    What is Tendonitis? The good news is that it's a simple dynamic, relatively easy to reverse...and if you have tendonitis symptoms in multiple spots it's all the same thing (same thing in different locations).

    "What does it take to fix tendonitis? not this or this or this". Thats not very helpful or positive towards people who do have tendonitis. You're only telling them what can't help them without getting into details about what could. You should also elaborate about what type of nutritional insufficiencies can affect tendonitis. It's a bit vague.

    • @TendonitisExpert
      @TendonitisExpert  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hmm. How many hundreds of thousands of people annually waste time, money, effort, and hope on the common usual treatments that don't, won't, and can't fix tendonitis? (pain may or may not temporarily going away but that is not the same as a fix) People spend weeks, months, years, and decades on splints and braces and pain killers, rest, etc, because nobody explained to them why those strategies were doomed to fail.
      So I'm not sure why you think it's not helpful and in fact negative to tell people what doesn't work.

      Actually - it’s not about what you need to do. It’s about what you need NOT to do. the tendon will just heal itself if you leave it alone for a solid month (or longer). so avoid it’s use entirely - because that’s how the tendon was strained to begin with (over use).

    • @etayluz

      Sore tendon? Leave it alone long enough and it heals. Sore muscle? Strain it with no mercy so it grows and tones up.

    I really really appreciate the info you are giving out, I think many people underestimate the body's need to get enough nutrients for proper function, and many accept a very simple "caused it's overused" reason then proceed to only opt for a temporary relief without understanding the underlying cause is something else. Currently nearing my mid 20s, just moderately active atmost and looking at my symptoms, I assume I have Achilles tendonitis , trying to figure out where in terms of nutrition I could be lacking, there have been days the pain is 90% gone and somedays it comes back with difference in intensity of pain, sort of in accordance to what I ate, eg. Right after a day of a rather not very nutrient dense food consumption, it was much more painful then usual. I will be trying out the treatment recommendations you have listed on your site hoping to completely rid myself of this chronic pain.... Thank you very much, I was very close to relying on stretches, thinking it was gonna solve it. I also wear minimalistic/barefoot footwear, thin flexible sole & wide toe box, and was starting to doubt if that was possibly causing it, yet at the same time I can't go back to my old shoes cause those give me this other type of sharp footpain that I couldn't figure out which now after switching shoes has completely subsided. The explaining you have done has made me understand what to look at to find actual possible cause of the issue. Many thanks to you

    • @TendonitisExpert
      @TendonitisExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it's a multi-faceted mechanism with various moving parts. It's great you're paying attention and pondering. It's required if one wants to get the mechanism working correctly again.
      Barefoot shoes aren't a problem. Feet (and lower legs) that aren't working properly, is a problem.
      One could argue that the number one thing one could do for health (and health correction) is switching to as nutrient dense a diet as possible. Which is not fruit and veggies, and certainly isn't processed foods.

    I'm wondering, isn't stretching the muscles actually making them more relaxed and eventually removing tightness from them and the connecting tissue? Also, about rotator cuff tendonitis, I've been told that the rotator muscles are the one that keep the shoulder in the 'right place'. So when you have such tendonitis, those muscles start to weaken, because of the pain, inflamation and other factors, eventually bigger muscles start to overcome them, put more pressure and you end up with even more tightness and inflamation. That's why all the PT tell you to stretch and strengthen them? (Not really sure about this, it's just my conclusion after reading about the topic, but would be greatful if you can correct me if I'm not getting this right)

    • @TendonitisExpert
      @TendonitisExpert  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      " isn't stretching the muscles actually making them more relaxed and eventually removing tightness from them and the connecting tissue? That's the goal/hope, but for instance if the muscle doesn't have enough of the nutrition necessary to be able to relax/lengthen/stop firing, then you get less to no benefit from stretching depending on how short one is on said nutritional factor.
      "I've been told that the rotator muscles are the one that keep the shoulder in the 'right place'. So when you have such tendonitis, those muscles start to weaken, because of the pain, inflamation and other factors" THey don't weaken. Well they do some but primarily it's an issue of decreased ability to function so not able to produce as much work, and thus feel weaker. And, tendonitis is the result of what you describe, not the symptom.
      As a general statement, yes PT's go with the 'you need to stretch and strengthen' route. Some few PT's are better than others of course.

    • @TendonitisExpert
      @TendonitisExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lack was present before. The 'worse' things get, the more the lack increases (because the 'bad' things eat up more and more nutrition..or...they cause requirement for more and more nutrition). One doesn't have a bucket that's some amount empty, one has a bucket with holes in it (so one needs much more than a bucket's worth).

    how would one ease back into normal/weightlifting activity while following one of the programs on your website? Should I wait until all pain has resided and weeks after to be sure my tendons are healed? Or should I slowly ease back into weightlifting/everyday activities when the pain has decreased substantially?

    • @TendonitisExpert
      @TendonitisExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just ease back in, pay attention, see what happens, and adjust accordingly. You have to test your limits/assess your current state, and you'll have to do that multiple times as you progress. It gives you good data, good feedback.
      Pain isn't the problem. Lack of function is. As you learn how to improve your function (and decrease pain levels), you'll get a lot more confident about what you can do even if you're feeling symptoms.
      Definitely don't wait for all pain to reside. Having said that, don't do so much, adding new irritation to already irritated dynamic, that you make things worse. Always push the edge but keep yourself on a progressively improving direction.

    What should I do if tendonitis has been caused by massive work overload due to me writing my master thesis on pc and now, despite being in physical therapy and correctly diagnosed as tendonitis (carpi ulnaris tendons), I have a hard time doing the very light exercises I've been given because it feels like the full-time job I have now keeps my hands in a slightly aggrevated state at all times.
    I've done what I can to minimize the impact, pc work has on my hands. Full ergo set-up and wearing a wrist brace on right wrist while working.
    Despite all these efforts it feels as if I cannot get really started with therapy/exercises because when I come home with a 'slightly sore' wrist and then additionally do the exercises I am supposed to it causes more pain afterwards.
    I am thinking of quitting my job for a while to get this situation under control. I've been suffering for a 1 year in total now and trying to do the exercises for 1 month. How long should I keep trying until I know that it is hopeless ?

    • @TendonitisExpert
      @TendonitisExpert  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. How'd things go since then?
      2. Tendonitis isn't caused by a massive workload writing a master thesis.
      It's caused by the tendonitis dynamic, a progression of increasing muscle and connective tissue tightness, inflammmation process, and nutritional lack.
      Your body can't function properly and thus doesn't respond very well to the pt (presuming what you're doing in PT would fix the problem anyway, which it generally doesn't in the long term ).
      You're body can't function properly can't recover properly, and thus feels like it's in a constant 'aggravated state'. It is.

    • @TendonitisExpert

      Compartment syndrome, not really. That's more a direct result of so much inflammation so fast that it can't get out fast enough (and continues to produce more fluid inside the compartment).

      You're going the right direction already. Foam roll it crap out of it (not too much at once but a lot/regularly over time). Then see how much benefit you get and how long it lasts and if some amount of regular foam rolling keeps it happy. If that works, you're in the easy stage, great. Moderate and hard stages you need a more complicated direction, that's where I come in.

      I think that advice is absolutely nonsense. Will continue to use foam roller and hot and cold applications. After my first day rolling, I can already slightly feel a difference in the pressure around my knee.
