According to Tom Hanks he said, "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that."

If you want a powerful Tom Hanks performance, in another MUST SEE film, then "Green Mile" is in your future. It's in most people's top ten films of all time.

  • @BigGator5

Excellent classic. Everyone should watch this movie at least once.
Fun Fact: In the movie there are four actors/actresses who play multiple roles. Gary Sinise plays Lieutenant Dan as well as all of his ancestors. Mykelti Williamson plays Benjamin Beaufort "Bubba" Blue, as well as the waiter opening Dr. Pepper bottles when Forrest meets JFK as an All-American. Sally Field plays Forrest's mom, as well as a male reporter during Forrest's run across America. Tom Hanks plays both Forrest and his Confederate ancestor.
Bonus Fact: Inspired by Lieutenant Dan Taylor, the military veteran character he played in this movie, Gary Sinise co-founded a rock and roll cover band during the mid-2000s called "The Lt. Dan Band." The band often goes on USO tours to play for U.S. military personnel stationed around the world, and also plays various benefits for veteran-related causes. Sinise was awarded the Presidential Citizen Medal in 2008 for his charity efforts.

Very interesting! I wonder what the budget was for this film. It makes the ending even better knowing the story behind Dan is true

Jenny loves Forrest, she loves him too much, she’s afraid she’ll corrupt him because she doesn’t think she’s worth it.
It’s only when she became a mom that she learn what love really felt like and started to heal

Forrest Gump is one of the rare occasions where the movie is better than the book. The book is still good but it has a lot less heart and is more satirical and even cynical.
I have a movie recommendation...Stand and Deliver. It's based on a true and inspirational story about a Hispanic-American high school teacher and students. It is a wonderful movie.
    Great job on this video!
    Best Regards!

My Mom looked exactly like Sally Field when this came out, it freaked us out as kids, we thought she had a secret movie career. It made it all the more painful when she dies, I literally cried. I love that in literally every photo of Forrest his eyes are closed I also thought it was prophetic that Lt. Dan's "magic legs" were made from the same material as the space shuttle, the next year they're in Apollo 13 together. Tom Hanks is incapable of making a bad film, even when he plays a local idiot, he's absolutely brilliant.

  • @KarmzZY
    @KarmzZY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

This film is one of a kind. I think I now realize the symbolism of the feather! Forrest Gump is the feather himself. Forrest was alway on the move, just flowing through the wind. Never really knowing where life was going to take him next. So innocent yet bright and hopeful. Overcoming every obstacle that would come his way. Forrest was the light that everyone around him was seeking. I could say more but I think that's enough for now.
It won’t surprise me if the feather means something different to you. Regardless, what a powerful movie this was. Let me know what you think down down below!

Hey Dude, I really loved your reaction, and I agree, this is one you need to show everyone. There is another movie you need to check out, it's called Jojo Rabbit. It's now one of my favorite movies of all time. It takes place at the end of WWII and Jojo is a 10 year old kid in Nazi Germany. He's a part of the Hitler Youth and his imaginary friend is Adolf Hitler. It is so funny and touching because Jojo finds that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in the house and as his relationship grows with her, his relationship with Adolf falls apart. Also check out Only The Brave with Josh Brolin, an amazing movie that everyone overlooks. I don't know if you've seen the 2 Deadpool movies, but they're great too. I'm gonna check out more of your reactions.

Kids today only know Tom Hanks as the voice of Woody from Toy Story. Many younger folks don’t realize what an amazing actor he is.
I recommend other Tom Hanks movies:
    - Big

    - Splash

    - The Terminal
    - Catch me if you can

@ 19:55 The scene of Lt Dan pounding on the cab and yelling "I'm walkin' here!!" was a kind of reenactment of a memorable scene from a popular 1969 movie at the time called "Midnight Cowboy", except Dan's counterpart (Ratso Rizzo played by Dustin Hoffman) had a bad leg, a limp, but could walk and had pretty much the same lines with the cab driver. The music you heard then was the theme music to the movie.
In fact all the music pieces in FG were popular during the various events in the movie. FG has a lot of historical references. Did you catch the Watergate thing? LOL! There was quite a laugh in the audience with that one!! A nice video you made here.
Another good Tom Hanks movie based on a true story is "Apollo 13" (1995).
At the end you were talking about other genres. If you like scifi, I highly recommend "Interstellar" (2014).✌😎

I think we're all feathers, man. I love mama's philosophy: we have to do the best with what we have because, in the end, we never know what we're going to get. Life could take us anywhere.
It's crazy to me to that there are people who still haven't seen this (showing my age, I know). Having said that, I've seen a lot of reactions to this film, and this was easily one of my favorites. Believe it or not, most people end up on some rant about PTSD or some social issue or something, and it just always comes off as fake to me. I understand it's a tough one and that it throws a lot at you at once. And everyone's had their own experiences to deal with in life, but it hurts that most don't have the respect to just appreciate an absolute masterpiece for what it is.

    1. In the book Forrest isn't always that nice of a guy.
    2. With a college degree Forrest would have gone into the Army as an Officer. Like LT. Dan.
    3. The royalties for this must have cost a mint.🤑
    4. It's ironic that Lt. Dan tells them to take care of their feet. Especially since he will lose his.😱😭
    5. He actually saved Lt Dan twice. Once in the field and again to get him out of his post war funk and Dan turned his life around.
    6. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😋😍
    7. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis to the Black Panthers, Vietnam to the jogging craze of the 70's.
About the only thing left out was streaking but that wasn't touched.
    8. Tom Hanks is the GOAT😎
    9. Speaking of the GOAT he absolutely KILLS in THE GOAT "The Green Mile" You WILL CRY😭

7:08 There was a deleted scene where little girl Jenny runs her drunk daddy over with a motor-powered piece of nasty farm equipment. That's why she moves to her Grandma's place. It was decided that it was a bit too dark, too early in the film, so they cut it.

I understand that Jenny had a hard life at the beginning of the movie but she was still very young when she was took from her father and said she was able to go to college her grandmother must have took very good care of her. She's like her character turns very very very very crazy when the bulk of her life seems like it was better when she went to her grandmother's.

    Whoever walks without blame,

    speaking truth from the heart;
Who does not slander with his tongue,
