    Don't be fooled by his English or charm. The Bongo's have ruled Gabon with an iron fist since 1967. They stole millions while their people suffered and now the president says that Gabon needs help to develop their infrastructure, after all these years of producing oil.

    Oil is a blessing. Our president is trying his best to upgrade the economy of Gabon by creating various type of business therefore we will not depend on oil as a primary resource of income. i really proud Mr Ali Bongo for the work you doing by upgrading road and bringing fantastic shows to entertain our people.

    For a country that only speaks French, his English perfect, way better than the gibberish that our President Biya can be heard speaking in some videos. I'm impressed with this guy for taking the time to learn his English and also moving his country away from France to the UK by joining the Commonwealth

    • @andredoracle6326
      @andredoracle6326 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And yet he spoke pure gibberish in that clip after the military initiated the coup. "make noise, make noise, make noise, the people here have arrested me." The contrast with this interview is stark. I have scant knowledge about Gabon, but a single family ruling since 1967, and claiming near billionaire status as a result is unheard of in any Western regime. God bless the gabonese people, and may they reap the benefits of a more just governance of their oil rich country.

    The problem is subjecting people to untold poverty levels yet Gabon has so much per capita income. Equatorial Guinea is worse but Botswana has done tremendously well for her people. Good roads, water, government grants, free education, low food prices, etc. The Bongos have failed the Gabonese people.

    With 1.5 million inhabitants only, Oil can only be a blessing not a curse... I am Gabonese and the government should use the money from Oil to have a Skilled gabonese workforce and provide good job opportunities. Thus we will deal effectively with social pressure... I once heard when u have Oil, u can have everything but I'm affraid it's far from being the case in Gabon...

    I was born in the U S, and I just recently had a Y chromosome DNA test and it was determined that my ancestors on my father's side were from Gabon of the Akele People. After listening to the Gabonese president, I do not know anything about his history as president, but he definately has the right idea about Gabon's in particular and West Africa's in general need to properly educate the masses of people and develop a skilled work force and infrastructure in order to radically reduce poverty and social tensions. Another important statement he made, was the need for Africa to stop exporting raw materials and start processing them themselves. These things couple together will produce greater stability in Africa and put them in a position that will not only attract investors world wide, but will also make sure that business will be conducted in the best intrest of the People of Africa as well as the investors.

Saying that you have your right legally to become President in Gabon than Him who still refusing to take the DNA test. Now 7 years laters check what is his popularity in Gabon Drama follow

    Its easy to say that young Gabonese don't have the right degres, but did they have the choice when they chose it? i don't think so.. Gabonese are poor, the only education they can afford is the one at UOB where programs are those that he just qualified to be out of sync.. How many got enough money to pay private schools? How many got conections to get international scolarships? For this aspect im saying that his words doesn't make any sens.. But its fair to say that he said some right things too..

  • @kofidze

    This guy is bright, intelligent and appears to understand what his country needs or needed. So how did he allow himself to fall into the rabbit hole of selfish greed and not provide a huge educational/social/health infrastructure for his population of less than two million people. He says Gabon is over 80 percent rain forest so what happened to making his country food sufficient instead of importing food. With just a little more thoughtful and equitable use of the vast resources and true love and care for his people he would not have needed to rig elections, his people would have freely and lovingly given it to him. Most dictators are empty heads but not this guy. Pity.

    he sounds the right bells, he seems genuinely interested in meaningful economic change and reform in Gabon, but is there any reservation that anyone has about him basically being an hereditary ruler in a nation that has basically only known single-party dictatorships and I guess how much does that actually matter? But is there any real, meaningful political opposition in Gabon? Is the economic divide in Gabon very sharp? Hopefully a Gabonese person can answers these questions, the nation appears to have a very well maintained infrastructure at least in Libreville and I know it is not a very largely populated country I believe Singapore has more people, in fact Singapore seems to be a good comparison for Gabon and Equatorial Guinea for that matter, a history of single party and family domination and a well developed economic core but the wealth gap is much higher in Gabon
