They always replace the case if there is any damage or potential for damage. In their defense in this instance, the case looks pretty heavily corroded and worn. You'd have to strip the whole case, solder on material, hand file & polish to spec and then replate it. In the end you still might not end up with a good result.
I love these restoration videos! By the way I still cannot find anywhere in your website a replacement rubber strap for my old Oris BC3. Could someone help? Thanks
Would it be possible to tell me how the alarm is heard because it seems that that was not fixed by not hearing it in the maintenance video? Thank you BCN
Mechanical watch alarms produce sound through a carefully designed mechanism involving a hammer and a gong. The repeated striking of the hammer on the gong produces a series of chimes or ringing sounds. The shape and material of the gong, as well as the speed and force of the hammer strikes, determine the tone and volume of the alarm.
It is the one the owner used with the watch when it came in. It is good to not replace the strap if it is not broken from an environmental perspective. But yes, the next replacement should be chosen with a better fit 😊.
Do you think that the case back opener they use is a little less 'professional' than your would expect from an original manufacturer? I also personally don't like the fact that they steady the hands with metal tweezers when replacing them, potentially scratching the paint/lume on them, just like the use of non-brass tweezers throughout, possibly me just being over protective of a quality and valuable vintage watch? The case refinishing is obviously 'secret' on this one, but otherwise I love these videos - a compact @WristwatchRevival video 👍

Those videos are absolutely epic.
The band is too small. But otherwise excellent work. How did you refurbish the case?
Nicely done! But what was done to the case?
would like to know this too. was it replated or replaced?
The original case coating was damaged, so we had to replace the case. It was not possible to polish the case.
@@Oris was it not a plated case originally, so was it replated? (thanks for the response)
You are right, the original case was plated. As the coating was damaged, we had to replace the case.

Looks like a brand new case, did the owner get the old one back or is it discarded?

ពីវ❤❤
Is it a new or restored case?
new case, i understand the original were plated.
Aw, I wanted to hear it
Nice overhaul, but the strap is too small for the watch, at least by a mm or so...

다 완벽하지만 가죽밴드 사이즈가 작아서... 아쉽네요
