It’s truly remarkable. I remember hearing her sing for the first time at a cabaret at OCU, when I was a Senior music theatre major. She was a transfer in her (I think) Sophomore year (maybe Junior?). Her voice was fantastic then, too. We all knew she’d be Elphaba someday. Her technique is truly incredible.
I know it’s subtle but I’m hearing some lil things in Alyssa’s placement in her voice and tiny differences (plus bringing back some of her tour riffs) since it was officially announced that she is taking over. She always sounds amazing but now it I think she is gearing up to be THE LEAD on Bway and she is GETTING. READY.
Haven’t heard the Broadway orchestra rock like this in awhile - they really nailed that down beat on “down”.
