One doesn't hear singing like that anymore. That's just beautiful; a little bit before my time but I do remember Ed Ames as Mingo on the Daniel Boone show. He is 95 years old born on July 9, 1927. He's 29 years older than I am. I am 66 years old but it all seems like yesterday.
"When You Were Sweet Sixteen" and "If You Were the only Girl in the World" are two of the most beautiful songs from the early 1900's. So nice to hear them here by the Ames and McGuires!
@@MostlyBrenda Ah, this is amazing, thank you so much for letting me know! I knew there was an episode on which Teresa performed "There's Nothin' as Lonesome as Saturday Night" (one of my favorites) but I had never seen it before! Extremely rare! I like to see any rare Teresa Brewer and Joni James.
@@MostlyBrenda I really enjoyed the Chantels singing "Maybe" too. That's a beautiful song! Let me know if you make any other finds. How I wish a video of the Poni-Tails existed. They were on the Dick Clark shows but I don't think any footage remains.
@@TomElvisSmith DC didn't save shows like Ed Sullivan. Basically, he was a cheapskate. All lip-syncs and virtually nothing from the daily Bandstand was preserved. He didn't really save the Beechnut shows either, the videotapes were in the ABC archives. This 1958 show must be a kinescope from some local station.
This is great. two top groups of the 1950s singing songs of the previous generation. Maybe something like BTS and Girls' Generation singing Michael Jackson tunes... well maybe not.
How wonderful. Your videos are great and I would like to repost your channel exactly on a nice platform named Gan Jing World. If this sounds interesting to you, please respond to me. Many thanks!
Ed Ames had one of the warmest voices.
I agree!
I love this. Pure harmonies. No augmentation or computer generated voices. Talent.
These wonderful singers are now almost gone. Only Ed Ames survives as of 2023.
And now Ed's gone. 😪
@@1955canuck I heard. very sad news. May all of them finally Rest In Peace.

HES the only one alive in this video. All the McGuire sisters are no more and the other Ames brothers passed away years ago.

Alert! See "Dick Clark Beechnut Show (Full Episode) 1958" for rare T Brewer. 😇

@@TomElvisSmith Yes, the Chantels and the first version of "Tequila". A real find!

The good old days when music was music 🎶
You don't hear singers like them anymore sure miss them
I do, too.
Awesome makes me so nostalgic I want to go home and sit in front of the old magnavox on Sunday night
Seven voices in perfect harmony!
Thanks for sharing!
@Michael Tuz Eight?
Always great to see more of The Ames Brothers on here.
WOW
Absolutely REMARKABLE singing!!
Thank you 😊
Such a joy to hear these talented artists sing with such beautiful harmony. The songs are so enjoyable. Thanks for sharing.❤
Fantastic!!

Yes, may be not the same! 😅
Phyllis still fascinates me with her mafia connections. She went to her death with many secrets and never told.
She became very recluse later in life. Never left her Las Vegas mansion
