@@kevinkerwin4118depends what you have in your build already. If you're slotting Hammer Shot or Vital Sense then the augment is a viable alternative but you likely wouldn't run both. Cold based weapon but no build that uses Primary Frostbite. Is the arcane that bad compared to others, or is it just the case here because it's a beam weapon?
The corrosive cold build can use it, but only if you're using Mag/Rad progenitor, or you tack on more elements via helminth and augments. As just Corr/Cold, Merciless outscales Frostbite. However, in situations like endurance, Frostbite's easier stacking may be more user-friendly. For other setups that do not have Cold present on the weapon, there just isn't any cold present. You can bring it in from companions/etc. but I'd rather just not have to rely on that for basic setups on weapon functionality showcases, when Merciless works very similar. It is also in part because of being a beam weapon, making it both a blessing and a curse, since beams usually want status DPS, and raw damage dps usually combines with cold elements (viral) if not corrosive or nourish.
I have a Corrosive, Mag, Rad, Cold Glaxion using Frostbite on a Gloom Recrystallize Citrine and it is incredibly strong. With Prismatic Gem adding Heat, Toxin and Electric and Fractured Blast adding Slash and Impact it doesn't even need Serration in the build to absolutely obliterate Steel Path enemies once you have Galvanized stacks.
