I grew up in New Orleans, and I’m old enough to remember “whites only” signs in the 60s. The city has had plenty of problems, including racism and inequality, but the thing I remember most is how black folk and white folk could always party together, Mardi Gras, JazzFest, second lines, Preservation Hall, WWOZ, Mardi Gras Indians, Zulu, the music and food … I owe everything I know about my cultural birthright to black people in New Orleans. I’m so glad I tracked down Joyner on TH-cam. This piece of music is absolutely brilliant! It made me cry. I offer my deepest respect for this artist’s gift. ✌❤🙏
