    Hi Lisa,
I literally laughed out loud when you asked us to tell you how our skin has changed!. I’m 63 and have always had oily/combo skin, but as each decade passes it gets progressively drier. Hydrating the skin is essential as is hydrating inside! The journey is beautiful no matter what our skin does. Aging is a fragile gift we must embrace.

This is so interesting because it's glowy on me and now a holy grail! I have very dry skin and live in Boise, which is a high desert climate. I think it's amazing how products work so differently on people even with similar skin types. I'm sure skin care, climate, etc all play a role. Love your videos as always :)

I've always battled with dry skin and I have tweaked my skincare and learned what to avoid.
I never use a foundation the has hyaluronic acid in the ingredients.
The reason being - HA draws moisture from anywhere, above, below and surrounding areas. Therefore, it will draw any remaining moisture from my, already parched, skin, thus causing my skin to become even MORE dry!
During autumn/winter, I don't use HA as it just makes the dry skin worse.
I also, "sandwich" each application of my night time serums etc, between layers of nourishing/hydrating essences/toners. My need for extra hydration really increases during the colder months.
I hope this info is of some help to any fellow dry skin sufferers. You have my sympathy and condolences 😉
    Oh yes, I almost forgot - this foundation,obviously, isn't for me, 😂😂
Thank you for this awesome vid 👍👍👍👍
Love you so very much 💗💗💜💗💗💜💗💗
PS - Your hair looks sooooooooo beautiful 😍

Hi. What clean ingredient foundation do you recommend without hyaluronic acid as it seems like they all have it in their ingredients ? I never know what to get. The kosas is terribly drying I tried it too. Thx Karla

Chrissy, you're exactly right. I'm a licensed esthetician, and I only use it in the Summer months, because of this issue. I hate that it has become the "it ingredient" in everything now.

Appreciate this review. Age 40 is when I had to change my entire makeup routine because none of the products I had been using in my 30s worked for me anymore and that’s when I dove into the mature makeup world. Thank goodness for Angie at Hot & Flashy who helped me find great products that were a lot better for my more mature skin. BUT the upside is that your 40s are when you start to feel the most comfortable in your skin and you stop worrying as much about what other people think of you. Your experience with the Kosas foundation is very similar to what I experienced with their concealer. I have very dry under eyes and I just find the concealer to be very drying which emphasizes my wrinkles. My guess is that their products are much better for younger skin and those with more normal to oily skin.

@Amy Swygert that’s interesting how the Kosas concealer didn’t work for you, for me it was the opposite, I’d been looking for a concealer for my mature @62 years young skin for so long and someone recommended the Kosas concealer to me and it’s been working great for under my eyes without any creasing at all, I don’t set it with any powder products as I’ve gotten older powder is my worst nightmare, especially under the eye area, it’s really interesting how products work differently for some even if they have dry/normal skin type, I’m more normal skin type than dry, due to using great skincare products, I think that’s where it all starts once we get older, changing up skincare products first. Cheers from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺😊❤️❤️🐣🐣

I’ll be 65 in August. My skin has been normal to dry my whole life. Since 45 or so my skin became dry. I always wear a moisturizing primer under my foundation. Without it, nothing looks good including tinted moisturizer. I also use a heavy moisturizer over my serums plus a primer. Your skin does look beautiful in the Kosas. 🤗💕

Angie’s skin care program is the best ever! I’m 76 and it is keeping dryness at bay…most of the time anyway, occasionally get dry patches around my nose or temples which I believe is related to a little too much trentinoin in those spots. Do look into it. ♥️ Love your videos.

I bought this because everyone was saying it was great, particularly for drier mature skin. I'm 53 with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks but this foundation looked awful on every part of my face! It looked greasy (not dewy), cakey, sank into all my pores and lines emphasising all of them, never dried down so I couldn't touch my face at all. I tried applying it in all sorts of ways but it was always terrible. You're the only reviewer I've seen who isn't enamoured with it!

I just turned 63. When I was in my 20s and 30s, my skin was an oil slick. The dryness struck around 40. It seems as if it happened overnight. Could also be the cumulative effect of using Tretinoin since my 20s. Hydration both internal and external is key.
The Kosas looks very pretty on your face. Perhaps trying a more emollient moisturizer might help.
    Great video, Lisa. ❤❤😍

Some things I’ve discovered about foundations: the sunscreen I use can make a big difference in how foundation looks on me, hyaluronic acid doesn’t work that well on everyone especially if the environment is very dry, some work and some don’t. I just hesitate so much to try a foundation based on what works on other people, but definitely not if the person has oily or combo skin. My skin is very dry but it has always been, even when I was a teenager (the upside was no acne!).

Hi Ginny, I agree about HA not working the same for everyone. I actually use Beta Glucan over hyuralonic acid. I have oily/combo skin and I just think the BG works best for me. I try to do my own research and test products to find what works best for me. However, some of these youtubers have excellent advise. I love Lisa. I will be 49 in July and ironically my skin is not drying it is oily and my pores look huge. I never had acne as a teenager or oily skin, but now I am having to use Tretinoin. Ugh aging is not always so graceful LOL :)

In your foundation reviews, you mention things like pores, settling, caking, air brushing, smoothing, etc, but we can’t actually see any of these things. Your skin looks beautiful and the same in every single video I’ve ever watched. 😉 If you had said this foundation was gorgeous and air brushing I think we all would have believed you. Thank you for this review! I just got this foundation and I had the same thing happen. I was surprised and a little disappointed. My skin has definitely changed. I use to be oily, but my skin has been changing in the last several years to normal dry. Dry especially around my nose and between my eyebrows. I immediately saw patchiness around the folds of my nose, on the bridge, between my eyebrows and under my eye area. These are the areas where my pores are larger. My cheeks and forehead looked great. Gonna try with a pore filler primer and see how that works.

Foundation is so personal! I like this foundation. One pump is more than enough for me. Have you thought about trying an oil primer for your dry skin? I find that when my skin is the driest, an oil primer works wonders. The idea of an oil primer is scary, but it works wonders on me. NYX makes a great one! I find it’s the only way for some foundations to look smooth on me. When you set with powder, you can tone down the glow it gives.

Hi, Lisa, I recently bought this because of how beautiful it looked on Emily Noel. I'm on the fence, too. I have dry skin now at 59, whereas I had combination skin into my 30s. 40 seems to be when my skin started to gravitate more toward dry. Emily did say that less is more with this foundation; it works better if you use a light application, according to her. Maybe prep with more moisturizing products will help, too. Hi Lisa, I'm 50 and my skin has definitely gotten drier as I've gotten older. My pre-makeup skincare used to be a moisturizer with SPF and a bit of primer. About 1.5 years ago I started to have major dry patches develop over the day, foundation settled into nasolabial lines, and it dried out and broke up and looked like it was peeling. It was a mess. Over time I found a great combination of very hydrating products for my a.m. skincare and now most days my makeup holds up well and my skin feels nourished and hydrated even at the end of the day.

Yes your skin does start to dry out as you get older. The collagen starts to break down in the skin and that is your natural hydration. So up your intake on water as you get older to hydrate from the inside out and you will have to get a thicker moisturiser to hydrate from the outside in.

I think this is a natural, not matte coverage? That's what the Sephora website says at least.
Given this has hyaluronic acid, and you live in Texas and now have dry skin, maybe try a priming or finishing spray and while your face is still a touch damp, put the foundation on? Otherwise that hyaluronic acid will just attract the moisture from your skin, bringing it to the surface and further drying it out (at least that's my amateur understanding of how the ingredient works🙂)
Or use a more hydrating/heavier moisturizer routine? Would love to hear how the foundation is if you were to try it with a few different products underneath. I love Paula's Choice spfs--there's a glowy one that's GLOWY, but very hydrating, which would pair really well with some of your more matte foundations.
(Although I tried the other Kosas complexion product, the skin tint, and could never make it work for me!)

This foundation did not work for me either. Skin does start "drying" with age. However, if it's any consolation, at 72 I have pretty normal skin with a dry patch here or there occasionally. It's never been oily and I do use a lot of skincare morning and night. It is drier than it was when I was 40 but I never label it dry, only normal, when considering foundations. But even with normal skin, this Kosas foundation did not work for me.

This just goes to show that not all makeup works the same on all people, we are all different. When I turned 40 the major difference I saw in my skin was acne, I developed acne on my jawline and it was painful cyst like pimples. I’m pretty sure it was some kind of hormonal thing and it went away but I’m 55 now with combo skin and in SE Tx where it’s very hot and humid, my skin has never been dry but there are certain products that will dry my skin out and I just simply don’t use those products anymore. Love your videos and you look beautiful as usual!

Perhaps your experience has something to do with how you prepped your skin? Maybe you now require more moisturizer. Would it work better on you or others with a primer first? Will you give it another try? I find I have better luck if I start with a dewy complexion before application.

When I turned 40 it was like I got old overnight, lol. No but really I feel like it happened very quickly. I went from super oily and not much wrinkles and skin concerns to super dry and crepe skin with lots more pores and wrinkles being much more noticeable and defined. But I have learned to use different products and procedures to help out with that and I have embraced aging because my father died at 59 as did my uncle at 62 and it's an honor to be able to age. I just want to age as gracefully as I can. It didn't think the foundation looks bad on you Lisa, but it did look dry. I was wondering if you recently started tretinoin or anything?

Oily in my teens through my 30s. Always have used or abused some sort of skin care but never used Tretinoin. Will take a pass on this I think. Over time my skin has become balanced and at 63 have very few wrinkles (jowls on the other hand is my current fight). One thing I have learned through the skin care content from TH-cam, I am not alone with my experience but I knew few people with my oily challenges when I was young. Made so many mistakes but in the end I am thankful for all my trials and errors as my skin is in great condition now and I will continue to be as disciplined as possible to try to look good for my age and will avoid foundation that feels drying.

Lisa, mine started changing in my early 50s but I had early menopause at 37. I had always had normal and oily in the t-zone. It still can get oily, but I'm definitely using a richer moisturizer and a soothing oil at night. I can tell you since my skin changed I can't wear mat foundations at all.

This skin change is a sign of your hormones changing. I went through this and also became irritable a lot. That was my progesterone dropping. Wish I had figured that out sooner! I encourage you to get some simple hormone testing to see where everything is at.

Early 40’s my skin got very dry and dull, it actually looked better without foundation. Nothing helped, no matter how good my skincare routine was. Mid to late 40’s got much better and now early 50’s my skin looks the best it has in years. There is hope!!! Through the years I changed the type of foundation I used to help adjust with my skin.

Hi Lisa! I'm about to turn 39 and my skin has undergone huge changes in my 30s. Throughout my life I had very oily skin, but very little acne. However, in my mid thirties I developed acne worse than I ever had as a teenager. I had to totally revamp my skincare routine. Now, a couple years later, my skin has normalized and the acne has left and my skin is no longer oily, but normal. It's the strangest thing!

OH!! please tell me how you were able to control the oil! I am 48 and as I age mine is getting oiler and my pores look huge! I never had acne but now I am having to use Tretinoin. It works wonders but my oil and pores are still an issue! any help is really appreciated!

    • @morgansides294
      @morgansides294 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@marthaspikes9669 Well, I'm not sure how much was changing my skincare and how much my skin actually changing but I think one thing I was doing wrong was that I was over stripping my skin in response to the acne breakout. I started using a more gentle cleanser. I'm currently using the La Roche Posay hydrating gentle cleanser after using a makeup eraser to remove my makeup. I've tried the whole cleansing balm thing and my skin just does not like it! I don't need it anymore, but when my skin was still normalizing, I also used rosehip oil drops at night to help with redness and inflammation. After cleansing I follow up with the Vichy thermal water spray. The rest of the products I use are from Beauty Pie. They are a great resource! Niacinamide drops for pores. Uber Youth serum, eye cream, and then the daily moisturizer and SPF for day and at night the Japan Fusion moisturizer. I have a couple of products to try when I run out of those moisturizers. Also I have really sensitive skin so I exfoliate with mandelic acid from the Ordinary every other day. I apologize for the lengthy response 😂

Hi Lisa! I have dry and mature skin (I'm 52) and I really like this foundation. I do prep my skin very well before applying though. I also live in a very humid climate (south Louisiana) and I think that may make a big difference since it has Hyaluronic Acid in it. I wonder how your HG foundations are working out for you now with the dryer skin??

I’m 55 and at age 50 I had to revamp my skincare routine. The routine I was using made my skin dry. It was fine when I was younger but my skin changed. Once I changed to a more hydrating routine it changed my skin for the better. I do use retinaldehyde 3 times a week but my skin is fine with my hydrating skin care routine. I just hit Menopause recently. It’s been a journey. Good luck. ❤️

Hi Lisa and thank you for this review. One thing that concerns me with this product is the manufacturer put arnica in it. Arnica, from what I know, is used as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and pain reliever. Why it would be putting a cosmetic product baffles me. Something to think about for your viewers.

    • @joannogas4391

@Cynthia Galvez: I have to think that Kosas is thinking about all skin types when they formulated this foundation. In my 50's I was prone to hormonal achne. It was inflamed, and very sore. Occasionally it was bad enough to be treated by a dermatologist. So IMO putting arnica into a foundation is to help sooth these types of conditions and a couple of others I can think of.

I used to have oil slick skin until about my mid twenties. From there I enjoyed a glorious decade of totally normal skin. Then at 32, when I had my first (and only) baby my skin began to feel more dry but I could still categorize it as normal-dry. Then 35 hit and it all went downhill from there. With each passing year my skin got drier and drier. And that brings us to the present day where I'm about to turn 44 & I can now officially say my skintype is dry-very dry. Whatever was responsible for producing moisture for my skin is seemingly dead. Or at the very least quit the job (and didn't even give the expected 2 week notice) 🤭. My skin from top to bottom is dry, parched all day everyday now.

Oh my dear Lisa....yes you get dryer as you age! I probably have as many foundations as you have from Dior to drugstore and ALL of them settle in your lines, at least for me. No matter what application I use. Sounds like you're going to have to start experimenting on different preps for your face. You are still beautiful and do not look 39 years old.😍

Hi Lisa! Thank you for sharing this video. I just turned 40 last week…within the last 3-4 months the dryness is my skin is like nothing I have ever experienced. It was like my skin was peeling, and I have been using my same skincare routine for about 2 years. My dryness is more around my mouth nose area. I am hoping that this isn’t a regular thing. I have never been to a dermatologist, but have really been considering going, just to see what they say and see if they have any recommendations. I hope your dryness improves and that you have a happy and peaceful day ahead of you!
*I did want to share that I have started using Cure Natural Aqua Gel to help to exfoliate the dry skin, it does seem to be helping. I use it 1x/week and purchased it on Amazon after hearing/watching multiple other influencers use it.

Thanks for your review!! I’ve been so curious about the Kosas. Their concealer settled into my under eye lines. I’m 38. Have you tried the LYS foundation? I use your BK beauty foundation brush to apply and it is fantastic. I also love the Tower 28 skin tint-super natural, good coverage and SPF! Both are great for my dry/combo skin, neither cling to dry patches. Would love to see a comparison review to the Kosas cloud set powder vs the new Saie loose setting powder.

The only product that really got my attention and I purchased to try, from Kosas, was the powder. I also tried the Lancome Skin Tint and disliked it. It is the first time that I try a skin tint and it look cakey on my skin😳. Perhaps it was the powder I used to set the "foundation", but if I did not set the base, I would have look like a disco ball.🤷‍♀️

I did not like it and I'm dry as well
I've noticed the more companies try to add skincare products the iffier. It gets. Not all skincare play well together and HA can suck foundation into your skin as it brings moisture in. The skincare community is re examining HA. Personally I only use it for microneedling. That's what I've gathered from watching skincare professionals their experiences and my own.
