I'll have to stop it there. Only ever heard Nordies calling it the Belfast Hornpipe. We call it the Sweeps Hornpipe and in all the music books there's no tune of such name. Did they need it because there's the Derry/Londonderry Hornpipe and they had none?
I dunno but iv always known it as The Belfast Hornpipe I learned it from John Sheehan from the Dubliners and James Galway who also called it the Belfast Hornpipe
