  • In this golf lesson with Maverik, Henry and I teamed up to show him how to stop scooping the golf ball and achieve a lower launch angle.
    ⛽️🔥 Milo’s Favorite Drill to COMPRESS the Golf Ball: milolinesgolf....
    For those that tend to flip and scoop at impact, in this video lesson we uncover a few ways to go about creating shaft lean at impact and thus lowering the dynamic loft. With Maverik being a former baseball player, we also encouraged him to strike the ball and move much like he did during his hitting days, albeit limited as a pitcher. We also tended to his golf grip and talked about the differences we see from the baseball grip. We hope you enjoy this golf lesson, and many thanks to Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, Arizona for hosting us once again! www.dobsonranc... ‪@smashgolftour‬

    The issue with baseball players making a transition to golf is very difficult, me included we are taught to store so much energy in the right side then weight transfer stop locate the pitch and explode into the baseball then follow thru golf is a move forward kinda way which is a no no in baseball how many times at a baseball game do you hear a coach say stay back, it's what we call lunging, in golf you store energy in the back swing then move your weight to the front side and continue the movement forward at no point is there a pause at impact so bringing the baseball swing to the golf coarse doesn't work for some of us because we explode of the right leg with no forward movement staying back in the swing coming over the top and hitting the ground extremely hard and in my case causing hip,shoulder,back pain.This video is perfect for us baseball player it simplifies the golf swing once I worked on this and learned, I enjoy playing the game I rarely hit the ground thanks Milo

    This is brilliant instruction Milo. I've been working through your drills to build a more rotational swing, making progress but still a bit handsy through the impact zone. The alignment stick / strong grip / hands forward drill makes absolute sense so will take it to the range tomorrow. Hopefully it gets me over the edge 👍

    Milo -- great video. Thanks for positing. Question: do you agree that grip was an issue but also his shift/body movement to the downswing. That, his handle wasn't forward partly due to his lack of shift and turn with the body. Midway in the clip you urge him (a few times) to turn and move club with the body: which I think is evidence of his shift and body movement being an issue leading to the flip. Plus his backswing was probably too long (as you said), and he bordered on a reverse pivot. Do you agree? Just thinking about more than grip here.

    This guy talking about his shot going from a slice to a hook is exactly what's happened with me since I began playing 3 years ago. I also pitched for 15 yrs (stopped after college though) and can generate plenty of speed and distance, just need more consistency.

    I like the idea of not letting the extension stick come in contact with the bodies leading side. Does this hold true for all irons and woods during full power swings as well? Great lesson, thanks.

    Milo, this is what I don’t understand about shaft lean. Are you moving the shaft forward to deloft the clubface, or moving the shaft forward which opens the clubface and then squaring up the clubface?

  • @TheBirdieparbirdie
    @TheBirdieparbirdie ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What a luxury speed is! Imagine knowing that if you can ingrain the move (which is one hell of a chore, even for an elite athlete) you'll hit it as far as tour pro.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He was already hitting it fairly far, but his dynamic loft was holding him back from controlling the ball and getting maximum carry.

    Milo, you are the instructor, but I'd have this stud aim at the front of the ball instead of the rear. I think my swings is not as solid as it should be, meaning I sway my torso a bit, but I get a .38 cal. gunshot noise with my King Cobra irons when I aim at the front of the ball a little to the right of center. With my woods, I set up so that I can see the rear 2/3 of the ball & swing at that. Comment, please.

    Hi Milo, after trying this out I had a lot of shanks. Without seeing my swing, is the most likely reason a early casting motion of the hands/club?

    • @MiloLinesGolf

    Milo, some teachers say scooping is caused by the pelvis rotating faster than the arms, so you need to speed the arms up to sync them up with the hips. Do you agree?

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Pelvis extending and sliding ahead of the arms could be a cause but I generally find it to be an effect. Scooping often happens because the face is out of position and the player throws the head past the hands in an effort to square the face which causes the pelvis to extend and slide.

  • @henniebogan1966
