Well, because being a teenager is one of the most difficult times in a person's life. I mean, just take a listen; as stereotypical as it is, society DOES try to force you to assimilate, to become a part of the routine. There ARE those boys and girls in the high school cliques, tossing names around like throwing knives... and, as much as adults try to help a teen adjust (everybody would adjust gradually and healthily into adulthood, in a perfect world)... sometimes, it just doesn't work. All of that can mess with teens. Throw in all of those changing hormones, specific social/mental/emotional issues, high stress from heavy (often unexpected) workloads, the thrills/spills of people discovering who they really are... where 'Murder Machine' might be a bit of an exaggeration for most, the maturing process takes a heavy toll on everybody. And, sometimes - even with EVERYTHING that people try to use to counteract the bull that a teen can be put through - that toll is heavy enough to make a teenager snap. It makes people freaky. Or, freakiER, in all honesty.
I listened to this when I was a teenager. I'm now 21, employed, responsible and respectable. the second I hear this song, I go right back to the 16 year old emo mess I used to be.
I listened to this when I was 15 and a freshmen in highschool. Now I'm 21, unemployed thanks to dropping out and angry at the government and the teens in HS. Even if I didn't drop out, covid would still fuck me over. I'm still an emo mess, xD
