Really big thumbs up here for Laurent, who had the courage to fail publicly on the Internet during his first trip to the gym. I spent eight years looking through the windows from the outside before I had the courage to try climbing for the first time at my gym. - Dave
Great vid, It would be awesome if you'd film a video in 4 or 6 weeks time to see how Laurent improves. It's fun too watch a beginner who is physically strong and understands movement well.
Those are some seriously hard v1's and v2s! Laurent is definitely climbing v3s in Chicago. V4s are always tricky, but I think Laurent could have found v4 sends in my gym on his first day! Keep climbing Laurent!
This was a great episode! I like seeing beginners in channels like this once in awhile. My favourite part was the smile on his face when he landed after he reached his high point on the V2-V3 tag on his “last” go. That is one of my favourite experiences when i boulder. Looking back from the pad perma-smiling because I know I just unlocked the magic. I hope there is a follow up on this! Thanks Miguel and Crew for giving me something to cheer for today! C’mon, Laurent!
Really enjoy the lower grade focused vids, huge help for my own projecting. Actually got that purple V2 on Sunday for the first time, and finally got a red tag yesterday. Keep up the sick vids.
Sunday sends / Miguel Monday's another sweet video dude keep it up. I'm so pumped to be going out to Vegas this September, hopefully i can get a send or 2 on the channel then!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
True story-heard something weird, pulled my phone out of my pocket, unlocked the screen, this video was somehow playing in the background. Dropped a like and will finish up later 🙏
Wow this guy is going to progress quickly. I've never seen a beginner trust their feet so much. Great natural feel for movement too. Did excellent without knowing any climbing techniques or route reading.
I remember when Miguel came to my local gym in Tokyo a while back - grades around the world and between gyms are so different, and I'm elated if I do a V3 or V4 here! But it looked like Laurent had fun and caught the bug. He tried VERY hard and could progress VERY quickly. "One more try!"

Dude did wayyyyy better than I did my first day
Let's get Laurent in more often. It wouldn't be long before he's crushing v8s, dudes got that dawg in him
Let's do it! 💪
Some naturally athletic people can do indoor bouldering grade V3 in first visit. Outdoors they would probably struggle with V0-V1.
Yeah, it's tough being good at bouldering Day 1. Really have to be in tune with your body!
Short answer yes. Started at 10 and got on 3-4's
First?? Yassss
So not first.. 😭
Lol not quite
First
Dayummmm 🙌
