@@rr1621 But Ryan's easy-going image is now forever tarnished (IMO.) The curtain has been pulled back and we see the real Ryan. He and Blake should drop all this and settle with Justin privately.
I don't need PR smear campaign from anyone to know that Blake has issues with herself. Seen her interviews so many times when she tried so hard to be quirky but failed. Instead being likable she presenting herself as rude and way over the top. Her co-actors often times looked uncomfortable around her during interviews too. It was clear to see all of that. For so many years people glossing over her nasty behaviours thanks to her hubby, Ryan & her team. But now there's no way to save her public image. And without seeing evidence presented by Justin's lawyer I knew many of her complaints were ridiculous. Someone who took an honest compliment as an insult? Yeah, definitely something is wrong with her. The way she percieve things is way too off.
Also we should not forget that the NYT had a copy of this civil complaint long before they published the article. Therefore, they would have had ample time to do due diligence and chose not to. That shows malice.
As someone who has followed his career and read his books, like Boys Will Be Human, I was honestly shocked to see the allegations in the NYT article. It’s upsetting to think that such serious accusations of sexual harassment could be published without proper verification, especially when they can destroy someone’s life, family, and reputation. Calumny isn’t just an injustice to one person-it damages trust and the moral fabric of society as a whole. I’m relieved his lawyer stepped in to bring some clarity to the situation. I know legal battles in the USA can be expensive, but I really hope Justin sues the couples and doesn’t settle this out of court.
What stands out to me about this case is the allegedly doctored text messages. The publishing of sensational and often patently false stories about a celebrity or political figure is normal for many publications who seem to get away with posting drivel regularly and without remorse. I could be completely wrong, but I sincerely doubt that NYT is held to different standards under the law than The National Enquirer. Is posting crap information bad journalism? Yeah, it is. But then again, not everything is okay to publish, either. I don't know a lot about those laws, so this is really interesting. While on the subject of The First Amendment, what irked me about Lively's lawsuit was that she referenced so many small and independent journalists/social media content creators, who had organically formed negative opinions about some of Lively's remarks and behaviors during the movie press tour that many found to be hurtful and disrespectful to survivors of DV. Lively's singling-out of content created freely and in response to her own behavior (which was not meant to ruin her life, but rather to inspire a greater level of respect and kindness towards the target audience for the movie she was promoting) really seemed to me like she wanted to stop people from speaking freely about her or her actions. I know there is absolutely no way anyone could legally make this claim, but it's an observation from a civilian about a member of the elite feeling entitled to positive regard from the public. Thanks for the interview, and thank you to everyone who protects The First Amendment!
👏👏👏 My feelings exactly. She willingly decided not to address and actually to deny her responsability in her image downfall, worst of starts for a SH lawsuit. She should've never combined both. If she would've shown herself as valuable ally for women I'm sure the public would've listened but her approach has been 100% damaging, for herself and for real victims of DV and SH
Her image was damaged after the interview with Krjiesti Flaa. Everything came down after that. More videos have resurfaced and they are not fake, like blake ‘s texts shown in the NYT
Blake is entitled to be offended by the said videos or some behaviors from Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer CEO, but I do not think these complaints from Blake warrant a formal complaint to the California authority or lawsuit to damage Baldwin's career. Hope this serve as a sharp warning to studios and producers in Hollywood and advertisers to avoid working with them in future.
Thank you for your report. Well explained. BL had all the power on the set. I think NYT hasn‘t done due dilligence. Proof, which is out by now is not in her favour. BL has behaved in several occasions without respect towards others and walked „over them“: condescending jokes about her collegues (she called them monkeys), not validating victims of DV and saying she didn‘t believe Woody Allens daughter, beeing aggressive towards an interviewer. This doesn‘t Look good in the public eye. The rest we‘ll See in court .
Mr. Golderg is (surprisingly) incorrect when he states (at 3:38 ) that the Times would lose the case if the Plaintiff can show that the Times "should have known that what they were writing was wrong." That is a negligence standard, but the applicable Times v. Sullivan standard is not negligence but recklessness, specifically: "reckless disregard of whether it was false or not." New York Times Co. v. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964). Later in the interview though he does mention recklessness ( 5:36).
Wouldn’t they write an errata once shown they made a mistake? If they are not doing that, then they stand by those words so they should be punished for it.
Intent and negligence have taken a beating in frivolous lawsuits recently. But the New York Times has been less than honorable in their reporting for some time now. Competing with Internet news has caused them to compromise their principles. And that's the quickest way to hit rock bottom.
Blake knows her power…. Her and her PR team reached out to NYT. The same journalist who broke the Harvey Weinstein article on the “me too” movement is the same person who wrote the very biased unverified cherry-picked article, hoping to create a narrative to destroy Justin. I also think the journalist did it for a personal gain for her resume and recognition.
@ is it worth being sued for $250 million? That’s a risky move, I’d imagine they spoke to their attorneys before they published to make sure the they covered themselves.
Allegedly Blake's pr reps are friends with some of the journalists at the NY Times. Again thats alleged and the word on the street. Also suing a paper for defamation isn't easy so maybe they didn't expect a lawsuit or are not concerned about one and planning on it getting dismissed.
@HawaiianSkies no. The poster is correct. She filed a labor complaint in the civil rights dept of California. A labor complaint is not a lawsuit. About a week later he filed a lawsuit against the NY Times and then 3 hours later on the same day, she filed a formal lawsuit against him in federal court.
I wonder how much legal traction Baldoni‘s lawyers can get from the fact that they disputed the facts, but we were deprived of an opportunity to provide contrary information because the request for a response was made late on a Friday night and then went to publication two hours prior to the deadline.
What exactly had The New York Times done, it's not clear. It was an article written about him or it was just questions giving during a reporter actor interview???? I do understand the lawsuit.
It’s not about winning the case against the NYT, its intended to bring out all facts which will help Baldoni against Lively. The NYT will be forced to release all communications with Lively and Reynolds and their process of how they got the scoop.

I will support because I like Deadpool. Their disagreements are their own. I just like my entertainment

Blake was the first starting the smear campaign with sony and the rest of the cast
My question is, why would the NYT put a misleading, cherry-picked article out? What do they have to gain?
Because they want clout and power behind them. Their ego got in the way of truth.

According to legal documents, the NYT received a response from the Baldoni camp around 2am, which is why they ran the story at 10am.
