I have nothing but total admiration for his career as a soldier and then as a supremely accomplished writer.

Thank you sir for a great presentation. I first discovered Casca in 1983 while I was in the USMC . I went to the Blt. command Bld , while off duty. I was invited to a game of chess with our Officer of the day , a Marine Staff Sergeant at the time . While I was waiting my turn to play , I noticed a paperback in the office trash can . It was Casca The Conqestidor . I quickly scooped it up and into my cargo pocket it went . Marine Officers of The Day seem to enjoy conficsating " stealing " troops shit that they don't approve of . That was my first Casca read , and for the rest of my four years , when I was broke , and nowhere to go , I would break out a Casca read , and my evening was good to go .

He had several of the books and loaned them to me (I can't remember all of them now; I remember "Casca: The Samurai" was the first one I ever read). He got me a copy of the first book for my birthday one year and it's one of the best gifts I've ever received. I've only read a small handful of them, but they were always among my favorites!

He came across the first casca book and was hooked. He spent an entire summer working third shift hidden in the platform of the roof access door smoking joints and reading books. Starting reading this series back in the 80's when I was in the Navy. Loved the books, think they would make an excellent tv series for Netflix or Hulu. My daughter recently graduated from film school at SDSU and I gave her the first book to read. I told her if she ever becomes a big time producer make a movie or tv series out of this book for me! Just one more thing to add, if you love the military and history you'll love this series. Sadler uses his Casca character as a way to describe how armies fought through history, with some good humor and drama!

I know this is an old video, but a small correction is whilst Casca has his hand cut off, he sews it back on in the same book, the running theme through a few of the books is that the cult has his spear not his hand.

I first encountered this series in the early '90s at some base exchange in Italy while I was in the Navy. I was hooked. And when I got back states side, I hooked my father on it too. And he was nice enough to fill in the gaps in my collection. It's a shame it never became a series of films or even a TV series, but I imagine it was too similar to Highlander. But Casca did get a "nod" in that one TV series, "Roar", where their version of Casca was a near rip-off of Mr Sadler's original.

Excellent series, I now own all 54 books, Sadler started something I hope will never end, Tony Roberts is doing a great job of carrying it on.

Thanks Eden, impressive to have the full set. Are there any stand outs from Tony Roberts run. I'd at least like to try a few.

@@JulesBurt It would be hard of me to pick one book to recommend as they all have good varying qualities, so, I will recommend off of my likes. This book is a favorite of mine because the supporting character "Gus" who is Casca's side kick and is to be trusted without pause. Gus is also in a few more books within that time period. #42 Barbarossa

No he does not. He had many women, who loved him, especially when he was Viking. But he always left them before they discovered his true nature. That his except for his Viking wife, who was blinded and could not see him remaining young while she aged. The reason they separated was because he was washed overboard as they returned from the MesoAmerican civilization at Teotihuacan.

Sadler based on fantasy but Mathew 16/28 is based on reality Lord Jesus Christ said some of you standing here will remain until I return second coming.. Many many Christians cannot except these words from our Lord . But remember with God all things are possible.
