    Hello How do you lock the steering column? For centering during reassembly

    Does the same apply for a Fiat 500L?

    I haven't had a diagnostic test but I'm pretty sure mine is on it's way out. Intermittent power steering failure! I'm in the process of taking it out and sending it to you. My car is a 2010 Pop.. Do you think the plastic covering underneath will have to come out to access the rack? Also noticed the air vent needs to come out as well?

    • @Ecutestinglimited
      @Ecutestinglimited ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. The vehicle we are carrying out the work on in this video is a 2018 500 Pop, so it may be a slightly different process in your vehicle. However if you are struggling to remove the whole unit due to the plastic covering underneath, you may be able to disengage the steering lock and remove the top half of the column which will allow you to drop the other half out of the vehicle. We removed one of the air vents in this video to provide easier filming access to the column securing bolt on the intermediate steering shaft, and it isn't a necessary step if you can access it with extender tools. Hope this helps!

    I need more information on exactly how the spring securing clips are meant to be released. This video doesn't give enough information. Are they turned or pushed or what?

    Does the same apply for the Fiat Panda turbo diesel. 2010? Thanks

      Hi there None Taken.
      This video is for the Fiat 500's EPS unit, however the Panda's unit is similar, so some steps shown in this video will be relevant. We would always recommend following the manufacture's guide for more detail. Thanks.

    As soon as they say 'just' on these videos you know you're in trouble. Like 'just' undo the connecter, or 'just' undo the clip. They tell you what to do but not how to do it! Until you know how the manufacturer uses electrical connections, you're in the dark about how to unclip them and a broke connector is on the way. I'm an engineer by trade (aircraft) so, I\'m not stupid, but it would be more helpful if a closer view was shown when undoing clips or connectors to save learning how they work by breaking them!

    • @bigcbradio
      @bigcbradio 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you can't figure out clips and connectors yourself without breaking something you probably shouldn't be working on a car anyways. Additionally, it may be best that they don't give specific details as each vehicle model and year may have different types of clips/connections.

  • @iandownie
    @iandownie ปีที่แล้ว

    THE VIDEO IS WRONG! AT 4:18 WHERE IT SHOWS THE SPRING SECURING CLIPS CIRCLED IN WHITE, THESE ARE NOT THE CLIPS! THE CLIPS ARE THE WIRE RODS YOU CAN SEE AT BOTH SIDES AND THE BOTTOM. THE SCREWDRIVER NEEDS TO BE TWISTED TO EASE THEM BACK.

    Had a fiat Panda which is more or less the same as these things and I had to have to steering columns in the three years I had the piece of shit.
    I wouldn't buy a fiat car if it was the last car on the planet . Fiat know about this fault but have done nothing to remedy it and my car was a 2005 car and loads of these had the same problem
