RM was a producer and Songwriter on 11 out of the 15 new songs on the album! Only songs he didn't participate in are filter, ego and friends. We should all start to give more props to him as a producer. Staff at BigHit has said before, no song goes onto BTS albums, without going past RM.
Of all 20 songs, he participated on 17, this man has such a high work ethic it's crazy.
RM is a great songwriter but he's not a producer.

Love what you do, guys! I've always been a fan of your reactions and enjoy watching you vibe to all the different music genres. I really love how you appreciate and support BTS as well.
However, It would be easy to misinterpret these songs as love songs or songs about a girl but the lyrics and meanings are far deeper than that. Most music is written based on external feelings and experiences because talking/writing about what you see or others will always be easier than self reflection and writing about your own insecurities, struggles and journey. This is wear BTS actually shines.
While the Love Yourself era may have started with love songs surrounding relationships, each album eventually matured into a focus on learning to love yourself first and foremost. Persona and 7, however, talk about the journey within one's self that eventually brings them to self acceptance and a true understanding of who they really are. Persona, Ego and Shadow are actually a part of a book series, written by psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, Carl Jung. In these books, Jung talks about the (painful but necessary) steps it takes to identify less with the way people perceive you (Persona) and face the parts of you that are kept hidden, either out of fear of being misunderstood/not accepted or something you,yourself, can't come to terms with (Shadow). Once you are able to understand and accept that you are the sum of both your Persona and Shadow, you will come face to face with your true self (Ego). It's the process of personal growth and wisdom (Jung called it "Individuation").
Sooo after that long explanation, I'm trying to say that the Map of the Soul era has very little to do with outwardly loving a person and everything to do with BTS' introspection, acknowledgement of both good and bad, and finally loving themselves and the journey they've been on (both separately and together). It's a love letter to their career and their fanbase.
