The salary for a school bus driver here in Ontario, Canada, is $14/hr Canadian, which is $11.20/hr USD. And you only get paid for 4 hrs of work per day. So you make $225 / week.
That's pretty sad in my opinion. I work at a super market part-time and make more than that. I did recently applied to be a bus driver as a second job though. And the fact that some get paid so little despite all the training to have to go through, and being responsible for dozens of lives to make it to their destination safely everyday doesn't seem worth it.
I know that this video is 4 yrs old and pay is different state to state. Right now minimum wage is San Diego is $15 an hour. Bus drivers here should be making $25 an hour or more.
Not sure if it depends on the area but around Toronto, school bus drivers are paid a min. of $17/hour and as high as $22/hour + all those benefits and stuff. Now with things back to normal somewhat, extra driving assignments are available if the person takes on more work.
You can do field trips, shuttles, late runs. All to get extra hours. Where i work driving starts at 20$ an hour, youre guarenteed 20 hours a week, and you can get 40+ hours if you want a midday route, field trips, or shuttles etc
Yeah you have the option to do more hours if you would like Im applying to this job, cause it looks easy and pay is very good compared to any other job
Rodney Mclaurin well yeah i’ve been on those buses my self when i use to go to school 😂 I’ve seen everything But for a starting pay of $15? I’ve cleaned restrooms day after day, wash dishes day after day for $7.25
This guy is way too happy, he hasnt driven a school bus for 6 years.... I drive elementary and high school. My high schoolers have always been great...the elementary, oh HELL NO! Some of those little shits piss me off something crazy. Especially when they are wound up in the evenings. Thank God I only drive mornings now. The driving is fun though. If I had to just drive the high school I wouldnt have a complaint at all.
Hah. I'm a school bus driver in SC. I'm on $14.25 an hour, driving Special Needs. It's fun but definitely not something that makes much money. As for the paid holidays... You earn $14 an hour but they hold back a percentage to pay you over the holidays. So... it's not actually paid holidays as they don't pay you everything during term time. The dental insurance is free but only knocks 10% off the bill. The real heath insurance is cheap for the worthless kind and pretty expensive for the real coverage. Yeah... it's something to do while you get a pension or if you have a partner that works or if you have an extra source of income.
thats cool you drive a school bus im going to as well but not be a school bus driver im planning to buy my dream bus is a 1st generation bluebird vision school bus and will be used for personal use only
@@TexasCarWashChannel626 I bought a schoolbus and started to convert it then realised I needed to know more about driving it. 5 years later I'm still driving schoolbusses and loving it.
Work less than 30 hours a week, make ~$30K-$40K annually, simple duties, and benefits. That's better than most jobs if you ask me. I'm making $30K/year working over 40 hours a week with complicated duties.
It is a very Nice job. I wouldn't Work in an Office. I know it can be very stress full and angry passengers. But I Think it depends on where you work, it is not like stress full on the countryside as it is in a city. Now I am driving bus in the north of Sweden and in northen Sweden, norway and Finland we have something who is called cargobus it is a normal bus but in the back we have a Cargoroom were we put gods and cargo. When you drive that you need to go out and leave the gods on busstop and busstations.
