Flipping Through 127 Layouts

- It's been about a year and three months since I last filmed through my layout stack and they've been piling up ever since! From March 2017 -June 2018 I made 127 layouts (plus a few more that I can't quite share yet!). I display 15 layouts on my wall at a time using IKEA DIGNITET curtain wires and clips, and then as I replace the older layouts with newer ones they go into this infamous pile. Since we are moving next week and I don't want to shove the layouts into a box, it's time to file them away chronologically into their albums so it's the perfect time to do a flip through. I hope you are inspired by a technique or two you see here and are excited to give things a try! Oh I Love what You did with those butterflies that You've sewn around on the page! I Love all these layouts in fact as They're so creative & eye catching! I mainly make vintage Junk Journals now but I do decorate them to a degree & the elements You've put together in Your layouts could easily be used to embellish the pages of My Journals! So much inspiration here! I even have a few scrapbooking albums that I haven't filled so You never know! Tfs

+Paige Evans Yeah Me too! :) I watch in awe when I see People who can make Mini Albums! I would love to be able to make those & so many other things I see People make & I'm just in awe! I also Love how lots of different crafts can be incorporated into Junk Journals or Scrapbooking. Like needle crafts or jewellery making or even decorative resins/resin moulding. And then how scrapbooking can be brought into Journal Crafting or into Mini Album making & vice versa. Thank You for sharing! :)

Wowie!!! Your layouts are breathtaking. I am drawn to your unique style. I was so inspired by your stitching on your work that I went out and bought a sewing machine. So any suggestions or tips on sewing on paper (or any sewing for that matter) I would really appreciate. Thanks for sharing, from Maleny Australia.
Honestly it just takes practice! I didn't do much to my machine except thread it with thread and get to sewing! Only after 12 years did I experiment with the other stitches it can do lol. I also don't worry about making stitches straight - just go for it and practice! :)

Some of your layouts are so dimensional... how do you even get them in a scrapbook? Your stack is super impressive!
Thank you! Only the first two layouts in this stack aren't going in albums. The rest fit pretty well, I can get about 40 layouts in an album :)

Ive never seen your work before, but I'm so glad I did. It's stunning. Can you tell us how you put these dimmensional pages in your scrapbooks?
Thank you! The only two that aren't going into scrapbooks are the very first two I shared with the dimensional flowers. All of the other ones are tucked into scrapbooks, they fit well :)
How do you put them in the scrapbooks? Do you use protective sleeves? Or, do you adhere them onto strap-held pages that are not covered? I'm thinking that protective sleeves would take away a lot of the tactile "enjoyment" of the page, but on the other hand I'd be concerned about them getting damaged.
Yes I put them in protective sleeves and then use scrapbook albums/binders. I guess you don't get to touch and feel them when they're in the pages, but you could easily pull them out :)
I love your layouts. Snapshot so many, but we dont have your paper lines in South Africa. Ive only ever done double layouts which goes into albums so when you look at it, its one flowing layout, everything matches and its all photos from the same event. I dont know how to do single pages and put them in a album and the 2 pages next to each other looks good? What if one has like a mermaid theme and the other page is like a kitchen theme.... how would it look?

I do have a question. I downloaded the stitched heart from the Silhouette store. I'm having a hard time with the file as they holes are not all cutting out. What paper/settings should I be using to get the best results. thanks so much!
Haha thank you!! I use American Crafts cardstock, a ratchet blade at a depth of 7 or 8, and a speed of 4. Hope that helps!
Hi, I can't get this to cut at all. I've tried so many times. It goes through the motions, but nothing is cutting. I used Bazzil, and depth of 8, speed of 4. I can see the red dots on the screen, I don't think i should have to trace it, right? I have designer edition. I've never had a problem cutting anything else. I would really like to get it to cut as I'm flying to a retreat on Thursday and wanted to take it as it would keep me busy without having to take a lot of supplies.
have you tried cutting anything since this cut file?
Paige Evans I have. I tried yours again 3 times on different papers and no luck. I’m using a silhouette that is probably 4 years old and have the regular blade.

Oh, well, I am going to have to try some embroidery and cross stitching on my layouts now. How beautiful! I used to do those but sort of gave up most things because I love scrapbooking so much. I have 20 years of my kid's lives scrapped plus a few other special albums. Still much more to do though, and this was inspiring.

Your pages are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing.I was actually wondering what your process is with picking different sized photos? Do you print your photos at home? Do you just decide which photo you want to use and then print it to the size you want? I find if I print them ready to go, I just have so many pictures from one event etc. that I never use and you seem to generally showcase one photo per layout. Thanks in advance Paige!

Your layouts are very creative and beautiful, thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed the video . When painting and stitching it would be easier to use white thread and just paint it as well, then you wouldn't have to use different colored threads as you said you did.
Thank you! I know watercolors soak into thread really easily, but I'm not sure about acrylic paint. I'll have to test it out :)

I use 12x12 page protectors to hold all my layouts and then store then in 12x12 scrapbooks :)
