YEAH SAME HERE!! Had no IDEA... there was some dumb hoax going around saying there was going to be a new band coming out called "RETLIF" with Richard's brother ROBERT Patrick (Terminator 2, etc) as lead singer.
Me neither. I bought this on two disc colored vinyl 6 months ago. I Had no idea it came out in 2016.

The music vocals and tone of this song are reminiscent of NIN in the early 90s. Love it. Definitely a paint peeling tear your hair out song.

@william noisebleed don't you mean LACK of DYNAMIC RANGE? I listened through spectrum analyser... ha it rarely goes lower than -0.2. It's just very very clever mastering. Loudness war. But, you're right! It does SOUND as though it has light and shade. I guess that ever since the release of Metallica's "Death Magnetic", where the lowest peak was
- 0.000000001, and highest peak was - 0.0000000005, mastering has become a brand new style of artform.

Not gonna lie, I'm was surprised and pretty impressed.
I was just watching a ton of older music videos from the 90s and early 2000s with my boyfriend the other day and we were lamenting the fact that artists don't seem to put as much effort into music videos as they used to. Of course music fans aren't watching music videos like they used to either, but I still think there's something to be said of musicians who have pride of ownership.

I am a big fan of Filter...when I first got ahold of this album...I listened to this track on repeat for several days..it is like catchy trance style that had me in a heavy trance for daze...:P At any rate...the video was very dark...I though the other one was dark as well...Take Me To Heaven...I think the band had more hits than misses...bravo!

@Floral Fire if you wanna hear something REALLY REALLY COOL, find online a copy of "ARMY OF ANYONE"... it's Richard Patrick, the DeLeo Brothers (from Stone Temple Pilots) and Ray Luzier (drummer for everyone)... GREAT album.
My life has always been defined by the anger, introspection and optimism from music like this. Do more.

Watching a video like this, it's hard to say I "like" it because it's nightmarish and creepy, but I think the imagery is a good fit for the song. From some interviews I've read, it sounds like this song is a reaction to all the senseless, horrific fuckery and hate that goes on in society, and brutal war crimes like what's shown here are certainly in that category. I had initially thought "Mother E" was supposed to be like "Mother Earth," like a statement on a broad scale about the world descending into chaos, but I guess it's more specifically a reference to the Mother Emanuel church shooting, and that just reinforces even further how much I like Filter and RP's adherence to keeping it real. Music is too powerful to be wasted on like, "hey girl/boy, get in my pants" and that kind of crap topic - I mean I suppose there's a time and place for that kind of thing, but I hate to see that stuff take such huge precedence in the media over more meaningful music like RP puts out. Sugarcoating just leads to complacency and inaction - it's definitely not pleasant to think about shootings and violence and hate, but we can't pretend it's not there or things will never change.

I doubt he’s sick of it. Being a part of the early NIN lineup influenced Richard immensely and he’s stated such. He’s also still good friends with Trent and considers him a mentor of sorts.
I do agree they are separate entities but they certainly have similarities as well, and that’s ok.

I too loved Geno in Filter but I can't agree with you, Rich is Filter like it or not, I wouldn't want to see Filter make Title and Amalgamut over and over again, Trouble with Angels is AMAZING. The Sun comes out is amazing too. When Brian left it sounded very different and when Geno left the sound also changed, different years, different sound, it's all good.
Scotti1- Morgan it's sad but true... I plan on working with him every record cycle and he gets wasted and says fucked up shit to me. I'm a sober person who takes my interactions with people seriously. The last thing I want to be around is an abusive alcoholic person. It's disgusting and I refused to have to live my life around that. I told him 100 times "it's your choice... drinking or filter choose!!! and he chooses drinking every time. saying "you're not the boss of me." I asked him last week "what do you think your life would have been like if you got sober 14 years ago?" he just started crying... he gets drunk and starts all this weird shit... I'm way to happy and healthy without him. Sorry. It suck's!! I hope he reads this because whenever I tell him the truth about his drinking he blocks me out. If you really want to help him!! intervene!!! get on social media and DM him. Tell him I'm public about it.. it might just save his life.
