I’m still in the cinema after watching Red White and Brass at the Sydney Film Festival. There was a Q & A with the cast, which included an original band member. They brought down the house. Everyone in the audience loved the film. A truly remarkable story that so perfectly captures the spirit of Tongan and Pacific Islander people ❤
Stayed in the same hotel with the Tongan team that night after the match - proper GENTLEMAN; and the band was there to greet them😂 Great music and dancing in the morning too 😎🏴
Yes, I too am here because I have just seen Red, White and Brass. The best movie I've seen in ages. So delightful, so hysterically funny, and as I live in Wellington, so proud!

Omg this is the brass band. I remember them I thought they were a legit band that had been playing for years and now made into a movie ❤️❤️❤️. I went to three rugby world cup matches in 2011 including this one France and Tonga.
They were a legit band. Apparently the church had a fledgling band, but they only decided to see if they could perform at the match a couple of months before the World Cup. I would imagine the band originally was much smaller than the one who performed here, so many were newbies. Also they didn’t have enough instruments to begin with. However it wasn’t totally from scratch. I agree it is pretty impressive that they managed to do this in 8 or so weeks. Interestingly it the father’s idea for the band to try to perform. The actors are the true life mother and father of one of the co writers. So they are playing fictional versions of themselves, which I think is pretty neat. The co writer also based Maka on himself.

Wow these are one of those moments where the real thing was waaaaay better than the movie!! Saw the movie, loved it! But the real Taulanga U band came to represent and they were excellent!!!!👏💯🔥🙌
Just watched the film on TV so had to see if it was on TH-cam. Amazing how here on TH-cam proved the film was based on an actual event. Would have been solid though if the film showcased the exact same music selection featured in this TH-cam but other than that I really enjoyed the film.
