The reason I know all the genres is because I truly love all that music and have been steeped in collecting music just like the stuff I make for 40+ years. Always do what you know. Never try to please others and do genres just for the sake of filling a niche.
Appreciated, it's sensible advice. It doesn't work though, as we are all different. I make music I like, inspired by the music I like. I'm just learning how Discogs call every genre variation for the sake of tags. If you think I've made even one track to please others (what others, 50 people who don't even listen to it), that worries me. Some songs must sound uninspired and insipid to you, which really saddens me 😕
