Been a viewer for around 4 year's but never comment. Just want to say a big well done Chrome! It's been a pleasure to see you and the channel constantly levelling up year after year. Proud of you dude.
Just make sure you build it for your next 10 year life as we get older we need different things in life and different accommodations to live comfortable
Man, Im so happy for you. Nothing like creating a new home. Been watching you for years. and your one of the ones that inspired us to go full time RV living. Got a small 25' class A, 454 CHEVY racing engine - that's small in comparison to some of the RVs I have seen. We look so tiny next to the other RV's. But we are cozy. Just got new tires. Had to reno the whole thing, build beds..
@vancity vanlife . Put the bed on wires and make it crank up to the top of the van and you can have all the floor space because your bed stores up at the top of the van.
A nice thing about having a fixed shower if you have the space for it is it's also a great place to hang wet clothes with all the rain we get in Vancouver. I've even seen some builds where they have a heat vent ducted into the shower. Then you can create a dryer if ever need to hand wash some clothes. You can also give cruzie bear a bath if necessary,
Chrome this is a fine vehicle and I remember when we bought a new truck, everything was ok no rust, no mechanical problems, yes it’s new and costly but well… sometimes we need to indulge and have comfort
I have a Sprinter 170 4x4. The most unusual thing i did with it was drawer slides everywhere. The stove slides out, the step to get into the bed slides out. Everything that goes in the garage slides out an huge aluminum drawers. I'm planning to come to island for July. If your around, you can do a van tour.
Awesome, I have watched you come along ways since oh gosh. I believe you had your mattress on 2 by 2 & a sheet of plywood with the plastic tubs underneath & 1-2 3 draw plastic dressers. That was about it. So not only how many vans you buy also your show #2 & remembering the size difference from #1. Wow ,you have definitely come along ways. We all love you Chrome & Cruz too. I am so happy for you Chrome
Chrome!!! Please make sure the top of your mattress comes level with or reassess into the flare at the lowest point to maximise your bed length we didn’t do this and lost 3in by making the bed high enough for my mountain bike to fit in the back.. Hope this helps 🤟 If your electrics are going under the bed make the earth cable in the back so you don’t lose amps . The longer your earth the more amps you’ll lose and run 50mm cable from front. Victron way forward with electrics
man i missed you bro haven't been watching for a min and next thing I know new shop new home. man so proud of you Chrome you are a true inspiration brother... weirdos for life...
We have a 4 ft wide bed. We set it 1 ft in from the back doors to allow for legs/feet down on either side of the bed and easier exit out the back doors. We also have a 3 drawer 'nightstand' at corner of the bed to accommodate various small items to be easily reached without reaching under the bed.
Congrats!!!!! Saw a van tour the other day where the designer build 3 "stairs" to get into her bed which she made higher than usual. The "stairs" were also utilized as pull-out storage..... I IMMEDIATELY thought of Cruz to ease his climb into bed with his short little legs😅
If you put your sink closest to the door, put the Tretravan shower at the end, opens into the doorway (because you aren't going in and out if you are taking a shower). Only have to plumb to one location.
The Espar heater in our sprinter lives in that spot under the passenger seat as well, its a perfect spot and warms the van beautifully! You will love your sprinter! Congrats!!!
Someone else said one heater wasnt enough for them and they did another one under the bed. Can i ask what area you live in? Like what kind of winter do you get?😂
What I *do* like about this van is the fact that to lengthen it, they extended the wheelbase (distance between axels) and not just the back end of the body.
Chrome word of advise from NL and fellow Sprinter owner. Change your engine oils every 15k km not every 30k km. It only benefit the MB dealer to do at 30k km. It will payback over long run. The chassis rubber protection is not water proof. Water gets in and it will rust where you cannot see it. Keep an eye on it. Cheers😮
Suggestion: 12V/24V DC Air Conditioning (possibly instead of a conventional roof RV vent fan). Chrome - a suggestion of something you might want to consider when planning and building your new home in your new Mercedes sprinter: BEFORE you cut some holes in your van’s sheet-metal - IN PARTICULAR - THE ROOF - YOU MAY WISH TO CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY OF INSTALLING one of those relatively new to the market (but they are out there) 12V or 24V DC AIR-CONDITIONERS. Again, these things run on Direct Current AND their power demands when running ‘on low’ after cooling down the interior of a van ARE NOT THAT ‘BAD AT ALL’ - definitely within the capabilities of what can be provided with a state-of-the-art ‘sufficiently large enough’ lithium iron phosphate battery bank AND a ‘Robust’ Charging System to keep them topped up. You might want to check this possibility out BEFORE you start planning on cutting those holes in your roof for a conventional in/out roof vent fan. There are even ‘split phase’ units which might even enable you to avoid having to cut a hole in the roof at all or the AC unit - though in the end I think you would still probably want to have and wind up installing an RV roof vent fan. But the air conditioner COULD PROBABLY do that job or you and you could have the best of both worlds and/or at least function as a second roof vent fan greatly facilitating interior ventilation/circulation
One idea that I love for a shower/toilet is AEONRV's solution. The bathroom in the doorway acting as a walkway/mudroom/shower/toilet. Can't wait to see yr build.😉
Congratulations on the van purchase. If you made your bed fold up against the back doors. You can use the space for a wet bathroom and shower. You could mount the shower head to the underside of the bed so when you fold it up the shower is ready to be used. Consider the space station toilet. You can also use a wet/dry vacuum system to have flexible hose behind a small door that you pee in and eliminate pee jugs. Happy trails my friend.
I seen some builds of people who do the class. B. RVs sprinters they use 80/20 aluminum. It reduces the weight and the amount of wood you use. Look it up on TH-cam. 80/20 aluminum
Been with you for a long time Chrome. What an exciting chapter you’ve opened up with the new van. I thought you were crazy when you brought us to that dump shop that was gutted and cold and empty but you had a vision and you saw it through. I have no doubt your new van is going to be epic. It’s already awesome but I can’t see your vision. CONGRATULATIONS 🎉
When you put solar on the roof, I suggest using VHB tape. I have 1200 watts of solar on my 36’ class A motorhome held on with tape and brackets I made myself. No holes in the roof to leak, and there has been absolutely no hint of the tape loosening up after three years do far.
I didn’t do a video, but I just used aluminum angle for the brackets and bolted the panels to the brackets using nutserts on the panels and bolts. I did calculations based on the tape specs and the surface area of the brackets that indicate I have well over a thousand pounds of bond on each panel. With the aluminum angle brackets, the panels themselves are only about 3/4 inch above the roof, so no air deflector.
All I keep on saying is, Wow! After each thing you point out. I'm so excited for you. I really enjoyed the trip over to Vancouver and very reasonable. Something to think about in my future travels
I'm super stoked for you Chrome you definitely deserve a major upgrade like this I can't wait to see when you get it all finished and take us along on your journeys Happy New year 🎉
Love ❤❤❤❤ the new van!!! Hey, I saw a shower that you mount the pan in the floor....take off the lid. Pop up the shower curtain...put on a Hook in the ceiling. No need for loss of wall or cavbnet space...was just inside the door to use for cleaning Dog Paws....Made me think of you two!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Please put your bed in overhead where it can lower down and you will be amazed also have a huge living area and queen size bed for expanding for 2 people to live for future if that happens....
Hey Chrome, love the truck! However, I’ve done much research about undercoating. I live in the Rustbelt in the States and have had my Tacoma undercoated due to the use of road salt and other corrosive agents used on the roads. Many references have stated the wax and rubber undercoating will break down over time, water and grime will get behind that material, and rust will munch on the metal behind that material and worse, within the chassis. You want to rethink your undercoating choice later and use a lanolin/oil based application like Fluid Film. Of course, removal of the wax stuff will need to happen. Not sure what Mercedes uses but just my 2¢. I love your channel and am excited to see what you do with the Sprinter.
Instead of the extended fuel tank, also consider under mounting an air conditioner, your water tanks or a shower recirculation system, and more stuff others will think of.
I think it's brilliant that you'll keep your bed side to side and not super big. We only need it to sleep. So it makes sense not to make it 3/4 of your build. You're gonna have so much more room for activities!
Chrome, the Sprinter is your oyster ! Have you seen the hydroninc heated floors for the sprinters ? Really nice option, far more comfortable over forced air.
Congrats, I have been following you since you moved out of your condo. You so deserve this, so have at it, and make a beautiful home for you and Cruz with all the bells and whistles you can think of.
Are you sure you want to lift the van higher? It already seems pretty high as it is because of the 4x4 model. If it's too high, it might start to make it unstable around corners, or high winds rocking back and forth. Also, when vehicles are that high, your headlights blind drivers coming toward you. I'm sure we've all experienced that. It's not very well appreciated or considerate, and it makes the situation a little more dangerous when you pass each other. One last note about a further lift, it might become a little tiresome having to "rock climb" up into the vehicle all the time, or rappel down when exiting...LOL. I'm very happy for you. In my opinion, you chose the best van manufacturer on the market. I'm looking forward to future videos.
Webasto has installer training, so as a dealer you're qualified to get this training. The trainer will come to you and install a heater together with you. And one of the things is that he will recommend against putting the heater under the seat, because of sub-optimal circulation. And will advise on better locations. Under the seat is great for certain electrical components if the batteries would be near.

Careful when 4 offroading I bend my Benz drive shaft on a rock in a water pond driving through was very costly fix it highly recommend a extra insurance package for the Mercedes vans there made off road but there no 4runners that's for sure. Still loved mine I had a 2014.
Hey chrome, I’m looking forward as you build your new larger home out. It’s all gonna be awesome but the most amazing thing about your new home will be being able to stand. That will be the biggest game changer of your new home and larger living space thanks for sharing. You guys always make my day. Be safe out there.🇺🇸♥️🙏👍🙂✌️🐾🚐🏔️🇨🇦
We have an S&B the best thing about them is when there is a problem they fix it. We had a problem 4 months after installing it and they paid Mercedes to fix the pump. The 2nd heater is the best thing ever. We wake up and push that button on the dash and then start our normal get ready process. Chrome. One thing that you will find out. Its a big space to heat up. I installed a heater under my bed. I have also installed a heater under the drivers seat which I use in winter when its very cold.
Congrats man. So happy for you. Without a doubt you have earned and deserve that blue beast abd I wish you the best of luck. We have a 4 x 4 transit converted into a cabin so I know how important these vehicle homes are…..
