- Robin Weigert ('We Were the Lucky Ones') reveals that tennis, poker and water parks helped the cast bond for the Holocaust series. She says that the toughest scene was when the Nazi’s come to the family’s apartment and tells them they have to vacate the premises. Gold Derby's Charles Bright hosts this webchat.

If you read this, let it be known that this series strike such a cord in me. I felt so many emotions: shock, sorrow, love, humor, tension, relief. It was laden with such emotion at the end with the reunion that I wept. With all the talk both positive and negative of the historical realivance (sp) I think this would impact our young people with what these families went through. It is my hope that this story, this series will gain and keep the respect that it deserves. I just ordered the book as I hadn't read it
I just finished We Were The Lucky Ones. Wow. What a story and what a cast! Bravo, I loved Robin’s character. What surprised me was that I watched 7 seasons of Sons of Anarchy and I didn’t recognize her from that role in the seasons she was in, She was perfectly in character in Lucky Ones.
Robin writers what a wonderful interview she is comfortablely brilliant and a heart so big
Being Jewish myself, I tend to avoid holocaust programs. The reason being that it’s a traumatic experience for everyone who is Jewish. Watching holocaust programs tend to be painful to watch and bring out sorrow and despair. However, we were the lucky ones is a bit different. There are many moments of sadness, but it’s one of the rare stories of family that didn’t completely lose each other. Many holocaust survivors had no one left and they were all alone. I really enjoyed the show, but it’s still sad even if they didn’t lose their entire family to genocide, because I know they had to have known friends and maybe extended family who didn’t make it.
