What a tragic ending to the 12th clone of Epleo Puru. She wants to do so much 4 her master. She fights like a calm and cool villian who turns berserk when angry and when her Newtype powers goes crazy but she dies a true hero. The song that i am hearing perfectly fits her!
Ohhhh, I absolutely loved her in Gundam Unicorn and it broke my heart when she died... so you can BET that when she appeared in Super Robot Wars V, I beefed up her unit until she was as unhitable as Amuro Ray in the Nu Gundam.
Marida and her fight with Riddhe is not only heartbreaking, but it's a test case in how someone can be humanized vs. how someone can be dehumanized - Zimmerman took a clone and made her into a person; Albert Vist took a person and turned him into a clone.
Still watching all of the earlier titles, at ZZ now. I can't wait til I get to Unicorn and rewatch it with all the new knowledge I have of the previous titles.

The only Gundam pilot waifu. I was genuinely pissed off when they killed her. Seeing her pilot the Banshee was like holy crap she's more of a beast than the Gundam itself.
Looking back at her. Marida looks more like a daughter of Kycilia Zabi from the original Gundam & Origins. Because this is set 17 years after the one year war. Marida is 18 according the Wikipedia. So she was 1 year old when her mother died in the final battle. And only 9 years old during the events of Zeta. And 15 during Char’s counterattack. If you ask me, I think her being a biological daughter of one of the main antagonists of the original series would been better than just being a clone of one of the characters from ZZ.
The biggest spoiler for this show is that Marida was blind. She could only see with her own eyes. But now you see her the same way I saw her, dear reader. Maybe now she'll open her eyes.

Matida Cruz, an enhanced human whose fate is tightly bound to the mechanical womb of a cockpit that encapsulates her body while digging deep into her soul to draw out her combat potential as extension of man's vanity and greed. Maida is really Ple(pooh-roo is the pronunciation) 12, she's the 12th clone of a little girl who was blessed with advanced Sapience. It's a twist of fate that her template; Elpio Ple, an advanced Human had her dna used by the first man she trusted without reserve as he chose to use it to mass produce empty replicants; slaves that boasted her powers of discernment but not the sense of "I" that is its catalyst(he only wanted war machines that can read and thwart the intent of his enemies, not true Humand who can take away his sense of dominance). This lack of "I" is why clones could never grow stronger, just remaining stuck at the level of "psychic powers" the original unlocked while she was alive. This missing sense of "I" made many of them fall into the gravity of depravity as sex slaves when captured and broken by enemies of their old master. Unlike most other synthetically augmented people, Marida survived long enough to awaken Sapience of her own and this caused her to transition past the invisible wall that separates artifical Newtype from real and more advanced Newtype. She even got the opportunity to scool the artificially enhanced boy Banagher Links as he walked his own path of awakening full and real Sapience. Newtype is the title given to those who can "sense the Light(intent~desire or spirit) within the Human heart," it's the flame of life and light of possibility that fuels its rise. Only where we all grasp the warmth of this light can we overcome strife and optimize life quality to the point of breaking all walls of "scarcity" that drives war. That's what it means to be Human~Newtype.
I'm sorry, but I had to do it. I had to make you see what I saw. Pull you into My Dream. How could nobody else see it? I know you did, OP. Thank you. You had the same vision for the world that I did. It's the gayest thing in the world to love something that isn't real.
