Level Up Your Woodworking Skills: Reinforcing 60 Degree Angled Joints

- I have to reinforce some 60º angled joints that I made on wooden rods. So, I use a drill stand and some tips and tricks to drill the tilted dowel holes to insert 8 mm and 10 mm dowels to reinforce the joint. Because I have to drill wood rods, and I have to drill with the drill bit at an angle and make angled holes that are perpendicular to the joint surface, this is a bit complicated task. But there was no need to makeshift an angle jig for the drill, because the drill stand was a nice angle drilling guide, and so everything worked perfect. You can see that I made some very nice 60º miter joints in wood rods reinforced with visible dowels.
In this video I show how I use the table saw to make the 60 degree miter joints on wood rods:

And here I show how to fix broken curtain rods making a simple doweling jig:

As usual, very nice work & wood working methods! 👍👍👏👏
Thank you very much 🙂
Have you stopped making videos?
Came out great !!
Excellent woodworking.! I have found dowels and glued joints to be MUCH stronger than screws etc! And with Trightbond 111 waterproof woodworking glue, they are even stronger!:) Anyway, love your tips, and thank you!
Nice job and great idea.
Very nice work 👍👍👏👏 Thanks
Very great awesome work 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
Recently Mathias Wandel did testing with dowels reinforcing tenon joints. Although the testing had problems i illustrated how the dowel holes weakened the wood. I have also see where people illustrated that end grain joints are not as weak as we have been taught. I am sure it depends on the type of wood your using but it would be interesting to see if the dowels helped or hurt the joint strength. Good video.
well done bro 😎👌👌👌👌👌👌
excellent
Amazing 👍 Where to buy a drill stand like this? I'm very new at woodworking, and I love the inspiration I get from you. Muchas gracias de Dinamarca ❤
(Aprendo español tambien) 😁
Thank you very much Pia. Then you can also watch the videos in my other channel in Spanish (Enredando no Garaxe) 😀. I have just leave another link in the description of this vídeo to the drill stand that I use in this video
I purchased mine at Manards. I don't recall the exact price, but it wasn't expensive. It works in many places where a drill press will not, and can replace a DP for many needs.
Well done! I am interested in how you clamped the dowels to glue them at those angles in the first place. Did I miss that video?
Thanks!
Thank you very much Terry. Yes, you can watch that in the previous video in my channel. Also, there is a link to that video in the description of this video 🙂
@@WoodworkingwithDIYtools hi, could you tell me how to make Y shape from square hollow profiles? I don't know the angles.
