4:45 those who are confused:
the apex pro (both tkl and full size) has special white switches with magnets in them for variable actuation. you can make them super sensitive for responsive games, or you can increase the actuation to make typing easier (more deliberate inputs). however not every key on the apex pro has white switches, the arrow keys, numpad and f1-12 on the fullsize have regular linear red switches which are of course stuck on the stock actuation. phazon is considering moving his movement keys on his keyboard to a location thats actually uses the white switches
so he wont play with arrow keys anymore??
Godly switched to only keyboard recently, he says he feels better with keyboard and can do much more than he could with controller back in da day
@Dan deffo not, keyboard inputs are way more clean and consistent
Just putting my binds out there:
A - left
W - down
E - up
F - right
J - light attack
I - heavy
O - dash/dodge
; - weapon throw/pick up
The binds look like _ - - _ _ - - _ which I find extremely comfortable as opposed to when all binds are in a row.. plus you get one finger for every input as opposed to aim up and down being one finger.. generally tho it feels more ergonomic cause it lets you flare your elbows as opposed to tucking them closer to your body
that seems very good but that seems so weird, and i think it would be hard to most to relearn the movement
i Currently use
W - Up
S - Down
A - Left
D - Right
J - light
K - heavy
L - Dodge
i - throw / pickup
Do you think its worth the switch? I feel like your binds might be better but idk how worth it is uknow
@@imrapid407 it is absolutely worth the switch, I also use ; for pickup and it helps dramatically. Using asdf or awef for movement is a good idea as well (though I personally haven’t found much success in it).
Smart switch tbh if I ever switched to keyboard I'd probably change to this form of set up.

@@imrapid407 I use that exact same layout and I think it works the best of all the layouts I've tried. It sorta gives that controller layout vibes with the "I" key being above the "k" key similar to wasd.
@@imrapid407 I’d say so long as you can input each input with one dedicated finger then it’s optimal.. beyond that find what’s comfortable and practice.. I’d ofc recommend my set up but breaking muscle memory may be too much effort for the reward
I use a hori fightpad xbox controller. The thumbstick is 8 directional instead of analog, and the edges are boxed in the shape of an octagon - meaning you can't slip an input - for example on Xbox One controller, sometimes when I chase dodge left, my thumb moves the stick diagonally down instead of fully left. The edges would slip my input sometimes. This fight pad I have is incredible, I move the stick to the left and if I move it far enough, the stick locks in one of the corners of the octagon and stops me from slipping up or down so I can't accidentally input diagonal up or down when I'm trying to input left.
Out of recovery jumps are the worst. The amount of times i died because of this and i didnt know it was on. When i found out it was an option i questioned why this is even here and turned it off faster than u can blink

@@pvpsushi in my opinion I feel it overall depends on the person and what their most comfortable using
I find this funny because for me, learning keyboard was easy. I use to play Adobe Flash games, even in multiverse, I've had the same exact settings. W.A.S.D and J.K.L Some of the Adobe Flash games used more keybinds for specific in game mechanics, but still had the same settings. I simply just applied the same knowledge, I did what felt the most normal to my muscle memory. Btw my weapon throw is H😂👍🏼💯
Very late to the game but after almost 80 hours on console brawl i finally got a keyboard to use. 3:15 i completely agree. Id always find myself on console doing sairs instead of nairs and the same with dair. Hopefully no problems with it just gonna be a struggle to figure out some good binds
mine is
w - up
a - left
d - right
s - down
left arrow - light attack
up arrow - heavy attack
right arrow - throw/pick up
down arrow - dash/dodge
shift - dash/dodge
these controls feels so comfortable for me
Same I thought I was weird for having arrow keys as my options and wasd for movement
Same cause then i also don't accidentally press other keys since the arrows are isolated from the other keys
Waiting for the day that Phazon ascends to a higher plane of existence, decides to never get hit by any attack again, pulls jiro to tourney and gets the gold medal
I used to use

But my keyboard ended up breaking i got a new keyboard (Red Dragon) but my original controls don't feel as good now so I switched to default controls

I play on controller and honestly I find it annoying sometimes cos of input delay, I also find it hard to do advanced gauntlet combos. Any advice on how to adapt to it ?
I had the same problem until I switched to keyboard, and within the first week I was getting all of the advanced gaunts combos that I couldn’t do for months on controller
@@gabecrockett8863 I have a friend who plays on controller and he’s diamond. He also mains the gauntlets and told me those combos can be easy to do once u try to do it more and get used to it

so i understand you are using the default settings, but do you dodge with your Pinky or what ? because my keyboard isnt american and a few keys are different
7:12 bro the buttons on my controller are so loose I had to switch the miss inputs where abysmal, especially since I had my dodge mapped to the bumpers

I hate the prioritize neutral option since you can just hold up instead, I’ve never really understood why there aren’t more players using that tech.

You prioitize neutral because players press both hold up and side keys to ensure they get the correct direction
Exactly, rendering prioritize neutral useless. You don’t need it because having up + no jump mapped to any one key means not needing to prioritize at all.
@@TheCubicalGuy that's exactly why you prioitize neutral. Weapons such as hammer, scythe and gauntlets hav directional input. It's important for a player to have full control over their inputs, especially with the fact that at a certain amount of damage your opponent starts drifting away from you
@@Onemandon1245 wait so what does having prioritize neutral on so that you can’t do with it off? I feel like what you’re telling me is entirely possible with just the up key.
I'm using controller and I don't know how to bind pick up or aim up buttons because I can't see the option for it. Can someone help me with this?

What actuation settings do you recommend? I have an Apex pro also and I'm not sure what to do there. I don't know if you wanted where the little plunger is higher or lower.

i use base 100% keyboard controls. If i use ps4 controller settings, i use:
x - jump
O - light
Square - heavy
/\ - pick up
and yes i barely use triggers cuz i like to mash (but not sig spam) i use shoulder buttons for dodge tho

shift to dash makes me unfathomably uncomfortable and i cant figure out why
My keyboard controls are like yours except:
Up key = aim-up & jump
Shift key = aim-up
blud never stopped yappin

I use the sames keys but my aim Up and jump is the same key because it feels weird
I’ve only used controller stick for years, noticed I can’t do advanced plays like gauntlets dlight - recovery. I tried keyboard for the first time recently and can do the combo there but my general movement has drastically decreased. Im just walking off the stage. Using the dodge button on keyboard is super uncomfortable/ I can’t keep up. I think I’m going to try using dpad on controller maybe that’s the answer

My game freezes for some reason. I have no idea why. I have tried everything i could.but nothing works. My older brother says that EAC is the problem. Since he says EAC is known for freezing games. If anybody knows how to stop BH from freezing. Let me know

I cant go left and press nlight or nair but when I go right I can do it fine wtf
for me i can not actavate my gc 100% of the time like on spear sidlight into downwight and downlight gc will only actativate 25% of the time or on blasters down light into sidlight into dash jump downlight gc will on ativate 50% of the time.

I’m surprised you use arrow keys which don’t have actuation settings on Apex. I use OKL; for movement and zxcv for attacks.
Just use a- dash s-heavy d-light f-pick up
