You were supposed to add the protector first before cleaning in order to prevent more water stains while cleaning. And yes, this is true of you look up the OFFICIAL Ugg Cleaning Kit video tutorial
As someone who used to work for their warrenty center about, 10 years ago. I can say this would have voided the warranty on these. At that time there was no supported cleaning kit for them. And I had to reject many warranty claims because of treatments like this, as even if you managed to get even wetting, which is very difficult to do, hidden diffrences in the sheeps skin could become apparent due to diffrent asorbtion rates, something you have no control over.

Pro tip- waterproof your uggs or any new ugglike boots w silicone spray. You have to reapply eventually, but it helps keep them lookin good for months

I use socks to fill shoes to keep the structure when I travel or when I clean them...just a tip if you want to reduce waste.
Clean them with cornmeal😊. Brush cover in cornmeal wait about 30 minutes and brush everything off, then scotch guard. Enjoy the view.
