Not a rancher, not a farmer....what you are Dex is an intelligent self motivated achiever !! Your success won't be limited to simple titles, but rather by your many accomplishments and by the many people you help throughout your life's journey :) Keep up the great work brother !

I only started following you a few days ago but I've been watching one episode after another. I am so impressed by your drive and ambition. You also planned for your future. I can not imagine how one man has accomplished so much in only 50 years. I so appreciate your faith and your love for The Lord is so evident. I retired from the United States Air Force over twenty years ago and was fortunate to be able to visit your wonderful country several times between 1986-1990. I am also very concerned about our food system and just since the virus, I've started a backyard garden. In the near future, I want to start raising chickens and rabbits. I'm learning so much from watching your channel. I would love to visit you in person and learn more about the day to day operation of your farm. I have shared your channel with all of my homesteading friends here on TH-cam. Keep up the good work, I will never miss one of your videos from this day forward. LaDonna Woodley

Dexter we love watching your videos, and the definition of a farmer is someone who grows animals or plants for consumption, so you are a farmer. My grandfather was a very wise man and he told me that there are no failures, only lessons. and I think it is very commendable that you share your lessons with us, even though sometimes they are hard lessons. Keep up the good work your farm is looking fabulous.
    Best wishes,
    Jimmy

Hi Dexter. I had the same experience with chicken pox on my turkeys. I solved it with a good and save spray for horses to avoid flies and mosquitoes. I use this for all my animals (chickens, turkeys, dogs and cats). You can also spray the coops and hens with it to avoid feather mites. The product name is "Bronco" and sold for horses. It will keep your animals free from mosquitoes.

🚨 Hello 👋🏽 from Texas. Don’t be concerned with those who are giving negative comments. Most likely they are not doing anything theirselves to produce their own food or to help their community. You have taken tremendous strides and have done very well. Starting from scratch with no real experience or guidance is not a easy thing to do and yet you have done just that and made a great success. 🎊🎉🎊🎉
To help your fruit trees grow better and to make it easier to maintain your property I would suggest putting a thick layer of mulch/wood chips around the base of the trees. Also using a mulching lawnmower to cut the grass/weeds around the property will return the nutrients back to the soil enriching the soil even further than it may already be. One more thing to consider. I would spread clover seed around the parts of the property where the animals are kept. The clover will give nitrogen to the other plants in the area and will be a valuable food source for the goats and foul you keep. I would also grow a lot of Comfrey, clover, Malabar spinach and grasses to feed to the rabbits. You will notice a difference in quality of the meat and overall health of the rabbits. The Comfrey plant 🌱 also makes great natural fertilizer for your vegetable gardens. I wish you well in you business endeavors.

Though from your channels I am happy to let you know that you have truly encouraged me to try out mixed farming...... and I also want to copy you on your free range, and selective breeding....Thank you so much for the lessons you are teaching us.

Wow I’m so impressed with the progress of your farm🤩! I’m so happy to see your animals thriving and was so sad when you shared about the death of your RIR chickens due to heat exhaustion. I’m very glad to see you rectified the matter immediately by planting banana trees and ensuring it doesn’t happen again. I was also very impressed to see you planting vegetables and look forward to further harvests in the future. I cannot wait for when you integrate the fish once the water system is installed. You don’t look a day over 40 so I was surprised when you said you will retire in another 5 years! I find with turkys they are best in pens with half the run covered rpof half open so they dont get wet when it rains. Plus keeping them moved onto good ground and never on the same ground too long and rotate them through a series of pens until the first pen has recovered its grasses. 😁

Dexter. In your chicken breeding pens the 'Hot, Humid, Air' needs somewhere to escape to, heat rises as you know. You need to remove some of the corrugated iron on the 'back wall' of the enclosure at roof level. At least 24 inch/60cm of the iron wall, along its entire length, at roof level should be removed and replaced with screening. You require 'AIRFLOW' through the coup and not just ventilation from the front and ends only. You need some cheap battery powered Hygrometers (Temperature and Humidity) in all your enclosed animal rearing areas to monitor these parameters. Great video. Cheers.

You need a lot of air flow. The metal wall is blocking the air flow into the coop. Install ceiling fans....sit in the stall for awhile and see if it's comfortable for you. If it's too hot for you, it will be too hot for them.

Hi Dexter, I also have some chicken in my backyack. Before bring the chicken I already have plantain and banana in there. The chicken pecked through the plantain and banana plants and also ate their leaves. So to provide shade I planted mango and coconut trees for them. And I had to fence off the plantain and banana to save them. By the way my breed of chicken is Rhode Island Red.

At napansin ko po sir Dexter wala po kayo nilagay na steel bars in the walkway of breeding pen, its only a concrete, kpag tumagal po yan sir magkakaroon ng mga cracks.

Dexter, brother, you are on fire with everything that is going on in your farm. And those chicks 🐥 are soooo cute. Yeah, can’t wait to see your baby 🐐 goats sometime in the future.

It will be soo good if you try to breed parakeets and other kind of birds. you can do anything if you put your mind in it and pray to God. Love from India.😋

I've seen the reply's on the tin roofing and actually shinny tin roofing is good it reflects the heat of the sun! That's why so many home's in the U.S use it for roofing!

ok on the chicken house the small part of the roof should have a gap between it and the big sheets. that allows the heat to roll out. if not you have turn this design into a great oven. use a large hole chicken wire to cover the gap so the heat moves out easy, and keep it clean and dust free to keep the air free to move out even with a small breeze. if not it will continue to cook those birds. i live in Thailand and we use that design all the time. the bananas will help but not stop it.
