The FCI dog dance world championships 2016 took place in Moscow, Russia from 23 - 26 june 2016. The participants competed in two categories: freestyle and heelwork to music. This routine above was shown in the freestyle final, where only the ten best participants were competing.
Freestyle:
A freestyle routine displays the dog and the handler in a creative, innovative and original way, using music and intricate movements to showcase teamwork, artistry, athleticism and style in interpreting the theme of the music.
Heelwork to music (HTM):
A HTM routine should be done with the dog and the handler in close proximity to each other throughout the routine. On all moves, the dog and handler team should move as one entity throughout the routine, displaying heelwork and creativity in the many positions and behaviors possible in HTM.

I don't have the words to express how amazing this was. Yvonne Belin and Alice preformed brilliantly. I cannot imagine how it must feel to be able to teach a dog to do these complex routines. They are beyond inspirational.
This dog can memorise everything without looking at her human! So graceful and smart!

I know everyone thinks the army dog was better but remember they used vocal commands if you watch. This dog memorized the dance via music and few hand motions. The fact that this one could back around in the beginning and on some other areas without looking at the woman was amazing. So impressive and beautiful
Border collies are awesome at following non verbal commands. I had a bc\ lab mix. He could walk the direction I wanted him to go with just a finger point, sit lay down , jump. Bow with just simple gesture s ...And that was with minimal training

This owner used vocal commends too. You just need to watch close. Probably was real quiet.
army dog was 100% better. Story was better, choreography was better. This audition is forgettable but not the army dog's.

Просто какое-то невероятно потрясающее выступление. Очень сильно впечатлило, такое синхронное выступление очаровательной женщины и потрясающей собаки. Пересмотрев аналогичные выступления тацев с собаками, это самое лучшее и душевное. Бордер колли со своей хозяйкой здесь потрясающий тандем. Хотелось бы ещё их совместные выступления посмотреть. Просто браво женщине-дрессировщице и такой умной и послушной собачке!

The Italian pair's incredible innovativeness won my heart, but I gotta hand it to this routine: their co-operation is unbelievable. On several occasions during the routine Alice isn't even looking at her trainer, and the speed is amazing. Both pairs are brilliant in their own way.
Border Collies are the smartest and easier breed to train. In this competition one can see that Alice didn't have to stick to her master's side to get her job done. Alice's steps backward were perfectly aligned in the choreography and in sync with music without his master's vocal commands. Brilliant.
Could you come up with something less platitude? Is there a human being that does not know, Border collies are easy to train?

@L - O I agree this fact sounds weird. Some people are still convinced that because Golden Retrievers are trained for blind impaired people, they are the "easiest" breed to train. Others think that German Shepherds are also the "easiest" breed to train. Those people forget that it takes over 3 to 4 years to get a sure result with these breeds. I had a Puddle and a Westie I patiently taught them to walk by my side but with lots of efforts, love, patience and dedication. And still I would not dare to compare them to the smart Border Collies.

This breed is so great at this. I have tears running down my face, they do it to me every time, happy tears. I get so emotional watching their performances. They are just so amazing. This dog is absolutely adorable.

I can't believe I'm saying this but this dog and the military dog each have different strengths as dancers and I appreciate each of them in their own unique way.
How anyone can give a thumbs down for this performance is beyond me. Even if you don't like dog dance or if you wanted somebody else to win, heck even if you don't like dogs you can't disrespect the skills and training.
It's really nice to see how happy these dogs are doing all that routines.
This ain't gonna do with happiness. Just training in exchange of food.
@@AS-th5bi you really must not know about border collies. Trust me, working dogs like these LOVE having a purpose. Whether that be herding, agility, 'dancing' or what ever activity. They love treats too, but working is just as fun for them.
@@anzo3058 I completely agree. In the long run, treats alone will not make a border collie happy. If they get enough attention and purpose, they will be more then happy... even without special treats. These are very passionate creatures :)

Beautiful! I competed in one of the first international freestyle championships in the 90's. We could not imagine then a performance like this one, with dog working at such a great distance and doing about 50 different behaviors in a single routine. Fantastic!

The complexity of this routine is absolutely out of this world. Was prepared to be disappointed by people saying the Mali owned the Italian should have won but there is no doubt that this is the world class routine. Chills down my legs knowing how difficult it is to get that level of training. So worthy !

Wonderful performance, terrific training. I too liked the CPR dog and the originality of the idea, but this routine is far more technically better done and the dog is just amazingly trained. Deserves the first place, no doubt.
I never knew this existed until I just saw the army dog routine, and then this one. Both are amazing! What I noticed with this one was just HOW MUCH of the routine was spent with the two of them quite a distance apart, and with the dog's back to her, which, in my green opinion, puts this one a slight cut above.
Their TEAMWORK is astounding! They deserved the win, I think the issue is Alice doesn't have the same charisma as the Belgian Shepherd. So inspiring!
I can't imagine the hours of work and the tons of love between a dog and a woman, needed to obtain this.

Border Collies are an amazing breed that I knew very little about until I rescued my girl , Murphy. Her loyalty, intellect, problem-solving and empathy were such a wonderful gift. I learned as much from her as she did from me. My canine soulmate for sure. Forever in my heart!

Growing up as a kid we have always had dogs as family pets and when my husband and I got our Cassie, a border collie mix, from our neighbor, she was just a perfect dog for our three growing boys. She could do tricks, loved to run and jump and always ready to play. We had her for 12 years and still miss her energy and love bond we had with her. We are in our 70's now and want another dog and would get another full bred or mix. Very special animals.

i see everyone saying the army dog should of won and i did enjoy that more BUT technicality wise this routine won. you can see the dog doing lots more tricks and at further away distances and spinning lots of times and the dog still stays on track. the dog backs up to her as well so i believe this was better in range for judging i too liked the army one a lot tho.
Agree. I saw the word "dance" but that routine did not fit in with a dance routine. Amazing beautiful animal, though.
I don't get angry like some people do when my choice don't win competitions but my choice was definitely the army dog. The whole performance was just amazing from start to finish. I did like this one but of course I really like them all even though the army dog was my favorite.

I loved thr Army dog. It by far was the better. I used to train sled dogs, as well as show. The moves by the Army dog were harder tricks to master. The judges always have favorites, they always favor their breed or something similar.
The music, and costume was terrible on this one.
I agree, performing at a distance in sinc with the handler was what got this dog a win.
