After he finished eating, he and talked for about half an hour. Genuinely punk, and that means challenging the system to be better for all, while being decent yourself.
He played my home town in B.C. the other night. What a great show. He signed my Burn It Down 45, and we talked about Dimwit of Pointed Sticks, who then joined D.O.A.. He said that he was his best friend. Great guy.
Jesus Joe lives in a nicer middle-class home than most people I know. It warms my heart to know DOA gives him a nice home at least. He deserves it after 40 years spent in beer and piss-stained nightclubs.
This man encourages me to not lose hope. Sometimes i think the older you get, the farther you get away from what you knew and liked to do. It never goes away. This man looks old as fuck and he is still making music.
Punk is more than just music or fashion. It's the empowerment of an individual to voice out wrongs and improve the world around them. He aged well and has done great things outside of music.
People forget (or don't know) that punk was born out of high levels of youth unemployment in the UK in the '70s, topped off by Thatcherism. Plus they were (and have always been, I'd say ) anti-racism - witness this DOA poster from 1978. openmov.museumofvancouver.ca/object/history/h20043814 Joe seems to have always had a justice streak. Although I have NO idea how he tolerates the council meetings.
This is also why all other real punks I know are vegan. They’ve always been the people dragging the world to rights, standing up for the underdogs (and dogs:) while raising spirits and fighting apathy 🖤

Thing is, he’s just wrong about politics. The fascists were left-wing. They were not right wing socialist of done a really good job of misleading people about what fresher, and was. Mussolini was a Marxist. He realized that other Marxist parties in Europe were backing the war they were going in a nationalist direction he saw this is the way forward. He believed that national Mark nationalist Marxism was the way to Build socialism and Italy. So he presented the big question to the Marxist party he belong to will you support nationalist Marxism or internationalist Marxism? The party rejected nationalist Marxism and he was booted out of the Marxist party. But fascism was Italian trade Unionism. It’s literally in the word fascism . The Nazis were also socialist it’s in their name as well however, their focus was on race unlike the fascists, the fascist were not erase based ideology. The Nazis were race based nationalists however, they were still socialist.
