      Irresponsible parents. These parents haven’t owned up to their responsibility to train their kids. Biko, who is this government that is supposed to train your children? Are Government funds not from collected taxes? Very irresponsible. They keep calling Allah’s name? Why? Take responsibility for your actions. More fundamentally, why should you take money from the private sector to train children? These socialist ideas have led us to ruin. Many southern families are now having 2-4 children.

      What are resources? I challenge you to tell me what these “resources” are? Taxes? Oil proceeds? Solid minerals? I would like the Government to review the payscale and benefits for the civil service and elected officials. Perhaps parents marry their daughters off so there is are less mouths to feed. These parents don’t take any pride in their children.

      I'm against it because having a lot of people and on top of it young people is a wealth and a blessing. The issue is that the resources need to be managed better. Western countries would do anything to have our population and our youth.

      Is why you need NO religion at all.. religion only creates social problems (poverty) and war - but you won't so look forward to a terrible future, you all earned it..

    • @milesinnz
      @milesinnz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @J Audrey wrong.. if this was the case, please explain why there are so many wars in Africa, between Christianity and Islam.. why there is so much friction in all countries between Christianity and Islam... also why the poorest and most desperate people in the World, are the ones who are the most religious.. so where is your evidence... ??? But then religion is the invention of humans... so in that respect those humans who cannot see the nonsense religion is, are humans with problems.. are you one of them ?

    • @milesinnz
      @milesinnz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @J Audrey then you might like to think, why is it that people in the most religious countries are desperate to get out to more non religious countries where they cause turmoil in those countries, which is why there is a rising tide of resentment against these religious nutters.. and then I could ask, since you think you know so much, do you have the slightest idea of the history of religion and mythology.. I can't say I am holding my breath as the normal hypocritical aspect of people like you, is that you throw a few words out and then run, as you are incapable of debating your position.. and I thought I would put this in now, as I can't be bothered to waste my time posting again when you fail to make an intelligent response.. but I am very happy to be proved wrong..

    Nigerians need to change their mindsets immediately,this issue has reached critical levels and it's mind boggling to me that inspite of the glaring challenges over population will bring about, people still lay so much emphasis on child bearing,it doesn't cease to amaze me that people can't on their own look at the situation and decide to have one or two children at the most for the time being until the population issue is in check.We need an intervention and we need it now,our beliefs are creating situations that are not sustainable, keep culture and religious beliefs aside and become practical because having kids you can't take care of and who will just be frustrated in so many different ways when they grow up is ridiculous.

      You don’t know northern Nigeria. It is the basement of hard core Islamic fanatics. The Emir of Kano who is highly educated tried to educate them to embrace education and forward-thinking values but they ganged up against him. They created a lot of problems for him and the man was thus silenced.
      As things are today, Kano State government still routinely organizes mass wedding - an even that brings many women together en-mass for men to shop, compare and buy. Think about that. That’s why those of us in the south want a secession from the north. We don’t share the same values!

    Like one of the contributors said, we should start taking responsibility for the education of our children as well as the living condition of our families. Taking responsibility will help them to live above religious sentiments and do what needs to be done.
    Also, It’s high time the society stopped limiting the significance of wives to just pleasing their husbands and birthing children even to their own detriment . The dreams of a woman are still valid even in marriage ; FYI taking care of children is a full time job and a whole lot will have to be sacrificed to take care of many children.

Africa is the most resource-rich continent in the world, but the people are the poorest in the world. I am a father myself. I raised 5 children, part of the time I was a single father, my children were close to my heart, I only went to 4th grade, if a father can't earn enough money to support his family, he shouldn't force his wife to have children if the child is not getting enough to eat and is malnourished, their brain cannot develop properly and the child is unlikely to do well in school. The child cannot become a businessman, then the situation in the country will never get better.

    Some nigerians stay complaining about the government and not doing what they can do for themselves. The population is growing too fast, when the government refused to give stable electricity, Nigerians bought their own private generators for their homes and businesses. When the government refused to provide clean water, Nigerians got their own boreholes. When the quality of education in public school started depleting, Nigerians started sending their children to private schools. Please help yourself and don't wait for this nonsense government

    • @xaomioppo9620
      @xaomioppo9620 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      So you want to use generator and bore hole till eternity. You like the noise/environmental pollution? Plus it's expensive and killing off SMEs since expenses cut well into profit margins. Also bore holes can deplete underground basin water. The government needs to take and deliver on its responsibilities to its people

    • @ibukunoluwaishola1486
      @ibukunoluwaishola1486 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The government in Nigeria is literally non existent. So give birth to children you can take care of. Nigerians have to solve their own problems by themselves because of this. Nobody likes noise pollution but the alternative is not having electricity for large amounts of hours even after paying electricity bill. This will cause unproductivity and a lot of businesses depend on electricity to survive.

    Parents ought to take charge and raise their kids properly, it doesn't always have to be western education and govt help. Basic morals, parents being role models of working ethics(be it farming, shoe making, keeping guard, bricklayer, barber, trader etc) will help their kids to be a blessing to their community. The problem is parents do not want to accept their responsibilities. Family units make up a nation, if they are not in order, you get a country like Nigeria. All the corrupt politicians are also family units, were they raised by their parents properly or taught to go fastlane and hammer by hook or crook?

    The issue is how does the country cater for the population. Solve the corruption problems and people will manage themselves automatically. Free education, free healthcare, improve agriculture, create employment and entrepreneurship. The government cannot force birth control on people. The culture will not allow it. As long as people see children as their retirement plan, nothing will change. Population control is population time bomb in the future. Look at Europe with the baby boomers retiring and look at China and Japan. They now rely on immigration to cater for their older generation. Japan is a dying nation. And China has realized the time bomb coming for them and they have reversed their one child policy, but the damage is already done. Africa should not look outside our culture to solve the problem. Africa is blessed in so many ways. Our resources should be made available to the people and care for all our children.

    The problem is the countries that surround Nigeria. They are very poor and the people feel like Nigeria can fix their own problem. But it can't. Nigeria doesn't really have the infrastructure to help people on the bottom. That is why the people on the bottom find themselves in worst shape than where they come from. And Nigerians find themselves being squeezed even more, so in return, they force to leave their country to find better pastures.

    Could be a blessing or a curse, but let's not pretend like it's an African problem. Europe had a population boom before it decreased, Asia also.
    It's a human problem, not a black problem. Mismanagement of funds supposed to be educating people and improving their skills is one of the major problems. Africa is merely passing through what Europe and Asia went through in the past now. Further development will decrease this problem, sadly African leaders are corrupt so I don't see that happening anytime soon.
    Human nature is funny though, in the future... 😂 😂 This very same Africans will also be complaining about low and slow population growth. We're humans, we cry about everything. Educate woman and offer them rights like everyone, and African cultures should stop overpowering women and treat them like humans. Balance and equality of power between men and women is how you balance population growth. I grew up in a poor community but my mother was fortunate enough to attend college, my grandmother was working as a maid paying her fees. She decided to only have child she can afford. Most of her peers didn't receive proper schooling and they had about 3 or more children they couldn't afford. Nigeria has huge potential, will be interesting to see how they solve this problem. Remove corruption, and Nigeria will be an African superpower. This coming from a South African. Good Luck 🇳🇬

      I genuinely believe that European institutions don't fear overpopulation. They fear economic development accompanies by population stabilization. Lets not pretend that these missionaries aren't already sterilizing unsuspecting women already. It's insidious tactic and disturbing. They encouraged China to establish the one child policy and now before they're population even reaches the same income levels as rich countries they face the burden an aggressive population decline. The Chinese government has acknowledged the one Child policy as a mistake and the fact that this reporter decided to use that same policy as a theoretical solution in a democratic country blew my mind.

    Religion and politics shouldn’t be mixed together!!!!... how come us Africans follow a religion that wasn’t ours to begin with
    We follow the religion more than the people who brought it in.
    I’m not saying religion is bad, but it has lead to a series of misfortunate events based on religious beliefs
    You can keep your religious beliefs, just don’t try to use it with politics cause it leads to many problems!!!....periodt

    We are not saying for Africans to stop having children, but it is not sustainable for every family to have 5, 6 or 7 children. At least try to limit the number of children to 3. The population would increase sustainably without depleting the natural resources.

      But birth control is contrary to nature and against God's commandment to people to multiply. Pro-life viewpoint is very suggestive to have big families, yes 6 or 8 children, however many that married people can produce. Reasons to have more children are universal and can apply to *ALL* families.

    @Ms. Kimani: I’d seen a few of your Pan African vlogs, & I applaud your work! I’m a Nigerian American, & I find this Population boom issue that you’re addressing to be, Cogent! The rampant birthing & large families have cultural & religious renderings that perpetuate this Scourge! The women & their children pay the ultimate price, Edith, as the men aren’t held responsible for the children they help bring into the world. Nigeria has No laws on the books to institute ‘Child support’, No mechanism for implementation of such laws, & Men or Women as may be have No employment opportunities to enable Compliance!
    Too many mouths to feed while resources are diminishing constantly! Erstwhile the primary mode of life N living was subsistence farming, parents needed farm hands just to keep up, and so traditionally men took multiple wives & unrestrained birthing as some of the children are lost to or were victims of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) as well as the effects of inadequate nutrition...
    ~ Fast forward to our times & we find fewer farmlands for Crops, younger folks are heading to Cities & have little or no interest in Agriculture, not many Job opportunities except for Civil service employment opportunities and that very Nepotistic! It’s crazy for the people in Africa especially Nigeria! There aren’t any Easy answers as I’m personally against Abortions, Child neglect and spousal abuses and abandonment!
    ~ Edith this time around, let’s not do a ‘One & Out’ and consider this matter resolved...Return to it time and again! Education, Employment Opportunities, Family planning requiring Sex education for Men and Women, and finally a spiritual awakening is perhaps the All encompassing Solutions that’ll afford the Answer!
    ~ what say you, Edith?😘👍🏽✅
