Yeah it sounds like he wishes someone had warned him about the lifestyle but he probably would not have listened either. The remix just accentuates how people don't really listen to the lyrics and meaning just the beat telling them it's positive or negative. I think the life is a bit glorified too but if you are a singer or musician than that's what you do just if you are a cobbler you fix shoes. Most don't even notice the Bob Dylan reference of the video either listen to all his sad songs but hey he's a Nobel prize winner I doubt Mike ever will be that.

This was the song that made me fall in love with Mike's music. I still remember listening to the remix on the radio back in 2017 and was intrigued by the lyrics enough to search up the artist. I fell into a rabbit hole of his music and artistry and have been a huge fan ever since. I got to meet him after his concert, and he was so kind to everyone at the meet & greet there. I'm hoping I can see him live again soon.

I just saw Mike posner’s on his 36th birthday, it’s been 10 years for this song. I listened to this version for the first time, actually people don’t know that this song is actually a sad song.
Now Mike’s life is totally different, to everyone who is going through a bad phase in life, be strong guys you got it.

Spot on. Lyrical music has a message, remixes do not. That's all EDM music for you. Completely unauthentic, and it just plays on people's heart rate by using scientifically studied sound waves that people are bound to enjoy, then they mix it up over and over again and call it a new song. They're all the same, and while I can't lie that they're catchy, they aren't deep or authentic enough to understand the message of the author/song.

Alot late but in a Logan Paul podcast. He talked about his money drying up from his work and even though he was releasing songs. They weren't hits. Kept getting lower and lower. Heard the remix when I was 11, now just listening to this at 19. A lot has changed, and funnily enough the two different versions of the song also reflect two different stages of my life.
I like his writing, i feel if he didn't fail after his first few singles we wouldn't have who he's become now. It's made him an amazing artist and humbled him into incredible writing.

The faster remix seems to glorify a life of risks and drugs and being rich and famous at a cost and not caring about how it affects yourself and others, but this just shows so many more emotions and regrets behind the decisions made and makes it seem like he actually cares vs the remix

I like both versions of this song to be honest. They both make you experience a different part of the story that’s being told in this. The remix is the “star” in this song pretending to be happy for his fans and him getting intoxicated to hide and temporarily get rid of his pain, and this version shows how he really feels inside.

Holy shit, these two songs (as I almost don't want this and the remix to be one) are like an 'amazing' depiction of addiction/substance abuse.
This song is reality, the sad hurtful (boring) truth about your life. The loneliness. The pain. The shame. The longing. The wish to just be liked or loved. Chasing something you deep down know you will never find at the end of the bottle/bag/etc.
However, then the remix shows us the other side. Even if you can see the reality, you convince yourself so easily that it is a 'fun' life. That this is the only way to feel any joy, that people won't love you outside of this life. That you will get that same 'good' high as you once got many times ago. That this time it will be different. Or to just forget that this time won't be different.
Whilst inside, there is still the pain, the emptiness, ever growing, ever demanding more, and you are just masking it with nice beats and words so others won't see it for what it really is. You have lost control, and you know it, and there is nothing you can or want to do about it.

Just watched an interview of Mike with some people i had no idea the remix wasn't the original. Its 2024 and this true authentic version has so much depth and emotion to it. The person who said the remix changes the meaning of the song is so so right. This version is a masterpiece!

I think the remix is more meaningful because it reflects more of what his current career is like. He knows that he's irrelevant but he still has to write music for other people that is like that. In the remix it shows that he's stuck if he wants to stay relevant while the original seems very generic for its type of music. (This is all in my opinion though..)
