Ppl like Rgv maniratnam shekar kapur did biggest disservice to aspiring filmmakers by telling they never worked anywhere just started directing and we do not realise the amount of homework these people did...i think more than being inspired a lot of them ruined their time n lives by blindly following rgv

I don't think film making is a science and i truly believe film making is a art because what we find is science how we use it is art in film making we using all arts together make a spectacular art not making science experiment getting knowledge is science using knowledge is art .....

After watching RGV's interviews with TNR , I learnt to write scripts .
High level what he said is :
1. Direction = showing what u visualise or what u dream
2. Cinematography = combining a series of moving photos (like gif).
3. Characters= pick n use choose whoever had put a strong impression on u in life.
4. Story = run a story with ur real experiences + use those strongly impressed characters+ add audience connecting elements .
Remember if u write ur life as is , it may become a documentary , there will be hardly 10 people to watch ur documentary , people comr n sit in a dark room to watch a lie that excites them , entertains them.
I too believe that film making is an art form because movie is a medium of expressing of what you feel which is the same case for art. If that art form needs to be successful then it becomes a study just like science which again puts lot of constraints for expressing the way you feel. True art form does not care of success or failure, it is an innocent way of your expression.
Filmmaking Involves Different types of Arts like Story writing, Music Composing, Dancing, Acting, Cinematography, Editing, Vfx artists, Makeup artists, Costumes Designing, Sets designing, etc. For example now a days most of high budget world class films has Huge VFX which is 65-70% of budget goes to Vfx shots only. Normal people say's VFX is also an art. But it is not. It involves so much of Science and Math. Physics for Simulations, Gravity, Rendering. Maths for Motion graphics. Calculating Polygons, Using Symmetry for modelling, Calculate Lights fall off for creating Realistic Scene, Expressions for Compositing, etc. Filmmaking is a Science of Using different elements of Arts.
