Dear Ross I am Bulgarian who lives in Hampstead London. This is what I can see is the truth but this is what I think is that you can make better movie in London. There is much more dangerous places in London than in Sofia. Here is normal every day people to kill each other and could you please film the British guy who stole my iMac for £2000. Not only Bulgarians stilling British as well. Is much easier to blame the others.
I have watched these people in a local citizens advice bureau staffed by unpaid volunteers. First they were only there to find out about what they get for free and help filling out the forms for it. The receptionist literally had to fight them just to get her pens and clip board back she lent to them. And when they gave up and passed them back on the threat of no help things appeared from the pockets of the entire row of them, elderly, adults and kids on the end of the row. They had picked up anything they could see lying around that might have any value. Utter scumbags.

I've cycled across Europe and have stayed with Romani communities a number of times, I even once was invited to a wedding. Most people were pretty friendly to me and nothing was stolen despite having an expensive bike and camera.
There is indeed a lot of poverty among many Romani communities. It's a vicious cycle, it isn't so different from what has happened in places such as Salford in the UK. Try not to be too judgemental.

I’m seeing all these racist comments about the roma people and all I’m gonna say is that not all of us are the same. Most are raised in the ghettos and are poor. Some are lucky to move out and live a Normal life. Being a gypsy in today’s society isn’t easy especially when you’ve faced racism your whole life just because of where you were from. We deserve better and are still fighting for justice. Me and my people will get the justice and respect that we deserve.
Roma women are also sexualised most of the time. White men tend to think that we’re some kind of sexy goddesses that they can fantasise about which is another problem that we face.

All projects which are supposed to help the roma people don't deal with the major issue. The Roma are not considered to be a functioning part of society, and in truth they don't consider themselves as a part of a nations society. Now this can be a vicious downward spiral. example: Employer wont employ Roma because Roma steal/dishonest/whatever > Roma without job is desperate, like any man, to make a living so criminality is answer > distrust towards other ethnic groups by Roma and other people > Employer wont employ Roma. not being part of a society makes it easy to fall into criminality. Remember this has nothing to do with skin color. it is the simple fact that one human group are not functioning in society. Why would anyone work for a better world if they will always be seen as shit. How much can people tolerate before they get enough. In the end a nation must chose how to deal with its own population and those who feel like they don't belong.

My great grandparents and my grandmother took off from Bulgaria for a America in 1936 or 37. My grandmother can speak Bulagrian but refuses to, English only in this house, she would scream. She won't even talk about the culture or anything. And if you ask her why she says its becuae I am an American. She takes alot of pride in that. She'll be turning 90 this year. I find it funny and kind of strange but I respect it.

She is wrong for deniying her roots. Also I can tell you that this video does NOT represent Bulgaria overall, actually it's a pretty beautiful country to visit. I am romanian and I've visited it at least 20 times, each time by car just using google maps and never had any issues. I can guarantee you that you would be 100 times safer in these slums than you would be in O block in Chicago. This is a tiny part of the country, which is overall beautiful and quite touristy. You should visit it once this pandemic s*hit dies down, especially since Bulgaria is in the EU and your dollars will go a long way, since the country is a lot cheaper overall.

Most of these short 10-15 minute clips are a snippet of a full-length episode; when you go to "videos" from the homepage of this channel you can search for the full episodes and usually it'll be there- but it's not always next to the shorter clips since they get uploaded at different days.
