  • This quick tutorial can serve as a guide for this plant medallion project. The design and methods of these pendants can vary in so many ways, including: types of plants, pendant size, style of border, mold material used. This is how I make mine.

      Thank you so much. I would love to be making more videos, but work so much in the vertical format for social media. Trying to figure out how to do both!

    Amazing video, this is exactly what i've been looking for. Thanks so much for sharing 🤗. I was wondering how you would make a mould of a whole object like an acorn so you have the whole piece (rounded all over) rather than a flat back? :)

    • @BlueDotJewelry
      @BlueDotJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So glad to hear it's helpful. This question is worthy of its own video, and there are a few different options, but basically, you can encase the item entirely in the mold material, and when it's set, cut an opening for the object to come out and the clay to go in.

    When you added the chain with the jump ring on them connecting to the pendant did you have to solder the jump ring ends?

    • @BlueDotJewelry
      @BlueDotJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do for security, yes. It's always the best idea. I know not everyone is set up to solder though. The alternative would be to use a gauge of jump ring that's heavy enough that it won't open on its own.

    Did you clean the white coating after firing before using the liver of sulfur?

    • @BlueDotJewelry
      @BlueDotJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good Q, but there is no coating. The white look is from the silver being unpolished. In this case I went straight from firing to sulfur and then polished as described.

    Thank you for your tutorial. I'm new to silver clay and wondered which kind of Sculpey clay is best? Thank you

    • @BlueDotJewelry
      @BlueDotJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I prefer Sculpey III. It's either soft from the package or easy to soften with the heat of your hands.

    I am trying silver clay myself, and its not turning orange in the firing process. I am using a firing torch. Does this mean the torch is not strong enough? Pls help me :(

    • @BlueDotJewelry
      @BlueDotJewelry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's hard to know exactly the problem, but if it's not reaching an orange glow I would say your guess is probably correct - torch isn't hot enough.

    can any color be added to silver clay the same way that mica powder may be used to color polymer clay?

    • @BlueDotJewelry
      @BlueDotJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few ways. Enamel is the most enduring, though most complicated to apply. Wax-based colored products can give color to the recesses, but should be sealed. Finally, liver of sulfur can give vivid colors, but can't be counted on not to fade over time.

    • @BlueDotJewelry
      @BlueDotJewelry  ปีที่แล้ว

      All of those are after-fire additions. Nothing I know of would survive the firing process.
