For a reviewer who lives in a garage and does not get out much to interact with the world apart from a few friends who being stuffed penguins don't say much , you make delightful reviews. Thank you for the 80 hours a week you put into bringing some vicarious joy into our lives
I still can get my head arround the fact that today's Civics are much bigger than the Accords were back in the last parts of the 20th century, when I was a kid... Also, I really like the nerd-level of your reviews, showing us things you simply never see in other car-reviews. High quality content, as allways.
At least they're not crossovers yet? 🤷♂ LOL just kidding (kind of). I agree though, they've gotten much bigger and of course I agree it's great content
Damn B 36 at 12:40 that was cool to see. Also buddy was taking that turn wide because of the trailer behind him. Not all turns are made for vehicles with trailers.
As an old Airforce brat you brought back a lot of memories for me when driving past all those B 52's. I can still quite distinctly remember the sound of them taking off.
As you drove by the Air Museum, I realized that, considering your Air Force background, it would be fascinating to get a tour there that you conducted.
Sarah, looking exceptionally lovely today. I really enjoyed the calm discussion of EVs during the driving segment. This was a fine assessment of a model that will be taking up all of the parking spaces at Best Buy for years to come.
That underbody view highlights that the design was very well thought out, not something that is obvious when viewing the underside of American designed automobiles.
I did some research when buying my so's new cvt accord and there are no reliability issues with the cvt. Also if you do end up having an issue a brand new cvt is 1k which is much cheaper than rebuilding an automatic transmission which is 2k+.
They probably didn't use the turn lane because they knew it woulda been a bad time pulling that trailer. I've done plenty of moves like that to swing turns pulling a trailer because you do what you gotta do.
Grab a fridge magnet to test body panels. Many hoods are aluminium but not reported as such. Also this is the 4th best car for the money currently available. Change my mind.
At 12:40 in the video, you edited back to the view through the windshield just in time to pass by a parked Convair B-36 Peacemaker! A very rare sighting indeed. There aren’t many of these historic 10 engine aircraft remaining intact. 6 radial pushers and 4 turbojets. “6 turning and 4 burning” as they used to say. What an amazing and historic example of such an iconic aircraft. Very cool!
"The size of a healthy baby carrot." I will now forever use that as a unit of measurement for anything twice the size of your pinkie and/or 17mm.😂 Happy New Year to you and yours, and thank you for your insane amount of very high quality content this year! Maybe we could watch you having a well-deserved vacation this year!✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
12:40. Shout out for the Pima air museum! Great review as usual Sarah! Keep up the excellent work! I agree that those who want a manual would pay a bit more for it, just like the automatic transmissions back in the day that you mentioned.
I would add styled colour matched steel wheels if available. I liked your turtle neck top. I wish we had an aircraft museum that was as impressive as what you passed. Long loads require a bit more room on the left (sometimes), when turning right. I smiled with you on the shark/eagle joke. It is so you. Keeps me coming back.
Nice review of a people-pleasing daily driver. I owned a silver ‘99 coupe with a 5-speed. I test drove the automatic version first. The difference in performance and fun with the manual was huge. It should always be an option on the Civic, IMO. I spied Pima Air & Space Museum… a great tourist destination! Happy New Year and thank you! 👍👍👍
Hey. Sarah, Great review as always you’ve commented several times on the ‘fuzzy cardboard’ i’ve got it in my truck wheel wells and it’s really held up great three years 34,000 miles winters here in Michigan it still looks like new and it’s easy maintenance so far I’m a fan more time for the wheels and the tires. These reviews coming together nicely a great flow to them keep them coming🐧🐧🐧🔧🔧🔧👍
Hmm...that area looks familiar! My late father and I used to go to Pima Air & Space every year during the week of Thanksgiving. On the subject of EV's another reason some people won't switch is the insurance costs are some times higher than the gas versions. The reasons being EV are more expensive to repair or replace as well as since it is 'fuel efficient' they will be driven more which leads to greater chance of a claim. There were also some states (Arizona not one of them) that were (or purposing) outrageous registration surcharges for EV's to rescope the gas tax money they would lose otherwise.
I haven't seen a CVT yet worth getting. You're absolutely right about the manual transmission option. There are specific drivers with designs only for manual transmission, and I'm not giving my Honda with a manual transmission up any day soon.
Nice video, great info and perspective as always. I love how the left side muffler has a flange so if you want to you can get an exhaust shop to quickly fabricate a slightly louder muffler you can take off and put back on really quickly. Which of course you might do if you have the 1.5t and not so much the naturally aspirated 2.0
When I was looking at performance cars a manual was a must for me and that’s why I ended up with an FK8. It’s all about driver engagement for me not chasing lap or drag times. I’d pay extra for a manual over an auto any day.
As someone who only drives manual transmission and is looking at this segment currently 1 Sport Touring and Hatchback Touring both have the option of 6 speed manual. 2. Honda lies and says manual doesn’t sell. I live in Central Texas. Do you know how hard it was in 2018 to find a manual transmission Accord Sport? Currently looking to trade in for an Si/Sport Touring/Hatchback Touring, and yep you guessed it. Only 3 Touring models available in Texas… It is easy for Honda to say, manual doesn’t sell. The truth is, they just don’t make them in quantity, yet they sell out no problem. Every time I take my Accord into the dealership, I always get comments from employees surprised to see a manual Accord. Let’s not even talk about how Honda had ALL the 2022 Civic SI reviewers review the Orange Pearl 2022 Civic Si, yet in the market, there are 0,unless you want to wait 2+ months. Let’s not even talk about how US market SI is garbage when the Canadian market one is so far and away a better vehicle. Honda is really on my shit list 😡😡
I live in the pnw and optioned for a 2015 Nissan juke nismo rs awd with cvt. I've got some mods like intake and exhaust on it and in fwd mode I can do burn outs all day and even get 0-60 in 6.34 seconds. I would have preferred manual but being in the pnw I wanted awd and the manual is only in fwd. The cvt isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
0:27 I wouldn't consider that actual dual exhausts. If it has one pipe coming off the engine that goes nearly all the way back then comes to a Y (or almost a T in this case) right before the outlets, that's not true dual exhaust.
An Accord with a Jazz transmission... nonsense car to me. I tested that engine on 10th gen Civic and it was so disappointing, much funnier the 3cyl 1.0 liters 129hp, it was a cart Thank you Sarah for such a brilliant review as always and Happy New Year
I've seen quite a few Honda's with the underside panels partially detached from the body & flapping/dragging underneath as the vehicle drives by. Wonder what's up with that?
So, Sarah says ordinary streets and I see deserted highways. But I also see a B-36, so I understand the appeal of Arizona (also, in that climate early Civics last 25 years without dissolving).
Not sure if I missed it. With the new belly pans, how many screws do I have to take out to get to the oil drain plug? Do I have to contort myself to get to the oil filter? Can I add oil without a funnel?
The 10th gen uses 10 screws on the belly pan. Once removed, the drain plug and oil filter are front and center. Plenty of room for tools and your hands.
Big question...non-Si Civic vs Insight? As cool as the Civic interior is, I think the Insight is more clever and I wonder if the hybrid electric motor may actually "out-boost" the turbo in torque performance.
Jeb: I have an Accord hybrid. The battery is not able to supply enough current to the electric motor for it to make its full torque potential. When stopped, the gas motor is not running so if you want fast acceleration off the line, you have to wait for the gas motor to start to supply additional power to the electric motor.
I have a 19 civic hatch 6sp and I believe the hp and torque ratings r the same as this. Gen11 honestly is too pricey, unless Honda brings the fit back, there are no below $20 Honda anymore
One fact that no reviewers cover is that Civics are some of the most expensive cars to insure due theft. That should be a major consideration for anyone looking seriously to buy.
I think I've seen forums online saying that Honda underrated the 10th gen, whereas now the HP/torque numbers Honda claims are more accurate. My non-Si EXT does a 0-60 in a solid 6.6-ish seconds, whereas the 11th gen is getting around 7-8 seconds. Plus the 10th gen is lighter.
Happy New Year, and thank you for another great year of videos. May I suggest that you consider purchasing a Race Box Pro for around 300-400. They can do braking distance tests acceleration tests are quite small and clip to your windshield with a suction cup. It would be another bit of information for you to have and would not require you to change anything in the tests your already doing. It would just allow you to have some additional information you could provide the viewers.
Could not agree with you more re: offer the manual as an option and those of us who want it would gladly pay more like people did automatic transmissions back in the day. Like, PREACH, Sarah!
I live in the UK and with that level of underbody protection it would be a Fred Flintstone special after one winter. They must treat them according to the climate they're sold in if not that's shocking especially for Honda.
I'm taking the powertrain possibilities detailed beginning at 0:48 as proof positive of what I think we have all been expecting: Honda is planning to sell a new CivicType R Wagon with Real Time AWD, available exclusively with a 6-speed manual, and only in NSX paint colors! 🍾🍾🍾
Sarah, thanks for all the fantastic in depth reviews, but doesn't the Penquin get a day off to rest from a year of working? How about a nice Polar Bear friend?
Loved your review! I have the 2019 Civic Touring Coupe and only wise they would have kept the coupe. Realize that it is low volume but Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ are offered. Shouldn't Honda make coupe available in the CIvic or Accord.
1:23 Your pinky should be standardized as a girth measure unit. Anything less then one pinky in diameter (or length) should be considered as laughable and non serious in automotive industry.

Indubitably!
You'd be tickled pink to be one of her stuffed penguins. Imagine Sarah playing 80 hours a week with you, it be a wet dream come true.
I still can get my head arround the fact that today's Civics are much bigger than the Accords were back in the last parts of the 20th century, when I was a kid... The current gen civic is more closer to the 1994-1997 Accord in size
I know, I ama Toyota person and yeah, todays corolla is bigger than the older Camry XLE and more reliable.
They got rid of Accords in some markets, therefore needed to introduce something in the middle. If you want a small Honda car you get Jazz.
The mechanic score is a great addition. Very useful for someone who likes to do (at least some of) their own maintenance. I am glad you added it.
I agree. I keep hoping for a leader board too
Damn B 36 at 12:40 that was cool to see. Also buddy was taking that turn wide because of the trailer behind him. Not all turns are made for vehicles with trailers.
You have to be the busiest, most hard working automotive TH-camr. Thanks for all your great vids.
As an old Airforce brat you brought back a lot of memories for me when driving past all those B 52's. I can still quite distinctly remember the sound of them taking off.
And that B-36!
@@majbloodnok I saw that and had to go back and freeze frame it.
As a former AMS (Avionics, and now hearing impaired) tech on the BUFF, it made me happy to see the two tails there at Pima.
I saw the B52s and had to scurry off and look on Google satellite view at the museum.
Your commitment is much appreciated and admired. You deserve the best ever for 2022. 🌟🌟
Best in depth car reviews on TH-cam. Your channel’s quick growth is well deserved.
As you drove by the Air Museum, I realized that, considering your Air Force background, it would be fascinating to get a tour there that you conducted.
Great idea for on of her off topic V-blogs.
FINALLY!!! A real review of the 2022 Civic. Sara, thank you for not holding back.
That Honda e is one of the most interesting cars produced in the last few years.
Sarah, your reviews are actually informative and useful not to mention funny. Real world, and thank you for not counting the cup holders. Nice Job 👍
It will be interesting to see how that Honda CVT holds up compared to some others that we know about.
I did some research when buying my so's new cvt accord and there are no reliability issues with the cvt. Also if you do end up having an issue a brand new cvt is 1k which is much cheaper than rebuilding an automatic transmission which is 2k+.
Growing up I always thought manual transmission cars were cheaper. The thought of charging more for them is cray cray to me
Standards are no longer standard.
Manuals are so fun! Im happy yo say i can drive one! The new gen drivers wouldn't know where to begin with a manual!
They probably didn't use the turn lane because they knew it woulda been a bad time pulling that trailer. I've done plenty of moves like that to swing turns pulling a trailer because you do what you gotta do.
Your humor combined with knowledge makes this review👍
I have found what I only dreamed of, a content creator who lifts the cars! Thank you!
One of the only car reviewers (maybe the only one) in which the bottom of the vehicle is shown via a lift. Thank you.
May the new year be as fantastic for you as your videos are for us.
The little front bash guard is an actual tow hook missing on the 22 Tundra.🤫
Grab a fridge magnet to test body panels. Many hoods are aluminium but not reported as such. Also this is the 4th best car for the money currently available. Change my mind.
The lack of a two door is a huge deal breaker.. I Would never buy a new Honda for just that reason. Happy new year Sarah! All the best!
I doubt I’ll ever buy a civic but that was a great review. I liked that bomber graveyard as well.
Love the honesty with explanation for reference. 👍🏻
Gotta love these in-depth mechanical reviews 👍🏽🧰🔧👊🏽
Yes on the standard transmission. If it was possible to get my last two vehicles with a 5 or 6 speed manual I would have paid extra for it.
At 12:40 in the video, you edited back to the view through the windshield just in time to pass by a parked Convair B-36 Peacemaker! A very rare sighting indeed. I smiled with you on the shark/eagle joke. It is so you. Keeps me coming back.
Very helpful review! I would like to tour that airbase museum you drove past- interesting to see a b36 outside.
Nice review of a people-pleasing daily driver. I owned a silver ‘99 coupe with a 5-speed. I test drove the automatic version first. The difference in performance and fun with the manual was huge. Happy New Year Sarah! Enjoyed the review. I do have question: do you have a certain speed you use when you start the brake test?
I wondered that myself, I bet its 60 mph.
This is why I am Subscribed, you offer a fair, honest review and love your opinions.
Happy New Year, Sarah. Love your car reviews. Hoping 2022 is your best year ever.
happy new year sarah . i love your videos so informative and loving the puns
Honda looks promising and really not a bad price. 🙏
My brother had a civic back in the mid 80s with no 1st, or 3rd gear but still run like a champ! We drove the shit out of the half bubble!!!
Happy New Year Sarah!😊

Hi Sarah. Curious to know from what speed do you do the brake test. Thanks for another interesting review

If you want a stick just buy an SI...

Sarah, did you pick your top and your fingernail color to match the interior of the car? If so, well done!
When I was looking at performance cars a manual was a must for me and that’s why I ended up with an FK8. It’s all about driver engagement for me not chasing lap or drag times. I’d pay extra for a manual over an auto any day.

9:19 someone in honda works as a part time magician, giving an illusion of a disptick in the name of rubber plug to fill in cvt fluid 😆
0:45 maybe a SH-AWD Acura Integra Type S?
How to say something without saying it- was just performed masterfully!
Great review, really enjoy your take on how easy a car is or isn't to work on. I got excited seeing that B-39 Peacemaker you drove past. 😁😁
I live in the pnw and optioned for a 2015 Nissan juke nismo rs awd with cvt. "That joke was **cking terrible" during editing "Let's keep it!" Gotta give ya kudos. Own that cheezy joke delivery.
12:40 Holy crap, that's a B-36. 😳
Yep, 6 turnin and 4 burnin!! They added it to the museum several years back, it's definitely a sight to behold.
Great review. I always hated how Honda would offer a manual transmission on the base model, but not on the touring model. My POS HRV is the same way.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳
A nice feature to add to GITB is where vehicles are manufactured. This Civic likely came from Alliston, Ontario, Canada, L9R 1A2.
0:27 I wouldn't consider that actual dual exhausts. If it has one pipe coming off the engine that goes nearly all the way back then comes to a Y (or almost a T in this case) right before the outlets, that's not true dual exhaust.

SARAH!!!!! (HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!)
KODIAK!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!😁

Where were you driving by that had all the cool old bombers?
simply the best review ever.
I remember BMW used to charge extra for the manual in the 90s.
Thank you for making this video! 😄
Manual is also available on the hatchback (Sport and Sport Touring trims.) Enjoyed the mechanical breakdown/overview.
I enjoy your videos, but if you would show where the oil drain and filter is as a few of us like to do our own work. Thanks and happy new year 🎉
What was the 6 engine prop driven bomber parked next to the B52's? Love your videos, keep up the great work. Happy New year.

"Six Turning , Four Burning" !
At 12:41 was that a B36? Interesting!
Happy New Year for the UK Sarah…
Six turning and four burning.
Happy New Year Saturday Sarah!!!
Great review as per usual.
Stay excellent!!!😎
Could not agree with you more re: offer the manual as an option and those of us who want it would gladly pay more like people did automatic transmissions back in the day. Like, PREACH, Sarah!
Sarah -You are lovely, fun and extremely knowledgeable! So enjoy all you reviews, rebuilds etc. Thank you and a safe, healthy and Happy New Year!!!!
I live in the UK and with that level of underbody protection it would be a Fred Flintstone special after one winter. They must treat them according to the climate they're sold in if not that's shocking especially for Honda.
I'm taking the powertrain possibilities detailed beginning at 0:48 as proof positive of what I think we have all been expecting:
Honda is planning to sell a new CivicType R Wagon with Real Time AWD, available exclusively with a 6-speed manual, and only in NSX paint colors! 🍾🍾🍾
Sarah, thanks for all the fantastic in depth reviews, but doesn't the Penquin get a day off to rest from a year of working? How about a nice Polar Bear friend?
sharks and eagles collaborating to put beans on pavement
Loved your review! I have the 2019 Civic Touring Coupe and only wise they would have kept the coupe. Realize that it is low volume but Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ are offered. Shouldn't Honda make coupe available in the CIvic or Accord.
Happy New Year! All the best for 2022!!
BTW, did I miss the Bolstering Test??
It's crazy to think that they charge more for the manual transmission. Here in Brazil, they charge way more for automatic transmission.

Finally I’m watching a video posted in less than 40 minutes normally I found it after twelve hours or so 🌚
