Timeless feels like casual Yu-Gi-Oh with these elemental handtraps
Which ones are standard legal? Are we talking about the evoke elementals?
@@JohnSmith-rr3jtYou must have never played ygo. Standard mtg is nowhere near that level of solitaire.
"Gotta pay the troll toll"
Great joke! Legend is an always sunny guy, who knew?
Wow, this is nearly 1 for 1 a Rakdos Scam list in Modern, prior to Fury's banning of course.
I know Timeless is suppose to be absolutely pushed digital format, but damn. This deck goes insane!
Awesome job as usual, Luca! Appreciate you tons! 🤘
I’ve always wanted to see this deck in action
Out of curiosity, what sorts of decks do you like to play when you’re not recording, just playing for fun?
Outstanding video! I love how not just play the deck, but rather speak out the possibilites and thouhgts that run through your head, This really helps the viewer understand the dynamics of the deck.
Fury is such a beast in this deck, and in this format. 4 damage split as you see fit is, with all these powerful monkeys and orcs running around, more often than not a 2 or 3 for one, and getting the double-striker body back immediatly is just insane.
The retro frames are pretty. Brings me back to my childhood, though I would be too broke to play most of these cards. Thanks for the awesome content.
Awesome video! Worth noting that you kept mentioning ranimating amped raptors or hitting them off Ragavan etc, but it only gets the "cascade" effect when cast from hand, reanimating it would just give you enrgy
I will always love the unique deck names that come from MTG
Love playing this deck! I tech in 2 Bonecrusher Giants for winning the value war in the mirror match and for killing all the pesky 2 toughness creatures running around.
8:24 I think it is better to do it from your graveyard since it can be saved with undying evil/not dead after all if you were to draw it. I’ve seen a few opponents accidentally give me a free fury because of this
I feel like people tremble when they the name of their opponent: LegenVD.
@legenvd great video! really helped alot with the mulligan strategy and the gameplan. Do you feel the lack of bowmaster in teh deck or fury makes it redundant?
Indeed, Fury replaced it for me as they fill a similar role. Could still be a great sideboard card against decks with Brainstorm or lots of small creatures.
I wonder what other TCGs with digital clients are doing this.
Rakdos Scam did well in paper, then got a ban. Now Arena just got the pieces for Rakdos Scam. Likewise, in Yugioh, TCG (format, in paper) strategies like Tear dominated then got hit with bans over time. Then Master Duel got their own turn at Tear for a while as well.
Happy Rebell Son noises
I'm playing a version with dark ritual necrodominance and flare of malice
What do you think about similar lists that run a playset of both "Nethergoyf" and "Mishra's Bauble"?
Approach was broken for me. Cast it, redrew it and cast it but it was countered. My understanding is if you cast the second one, even if its countered, you win. But I didn't
You got it backwards. If they counter it the first time but the second one resolves you still win.
Nice
All these Timeless decks seem like a scam to me. Interesting to see how they work.
I’ve gotta say that scam feels much less oppressive in timeless than in modern, I think mostly because of Lurrus and phlage which really offset the card disadvantage from scam. Lurrus zoo has felt like it has a positive match up against scam, with lots of high toughness. Also, scam can’t play the broken raptor either.
Any control decks coming soon in timeless?
I want to build this deck but it costs a lot of wildcards for someone who only started playing 2 months ago.
What are your settings , because everytime I cast grief for evoke I can’t cast not dead after all even if I have mana open
Need to make sure you have full control enabled for those turns, pressing "ctrl" or "ctrl+shift" will do that for you.
bro how you get furys for example, with mh3 or with wildcards?
The whole cycle of evoke elementals are in the "special guest" slot in MH3, so they do show up in packs but very rarely.
Opened around 100 packs and only got one evoke elemental. So mostly wildcards.
So that's why today everyone was playing this deck. I had never seen the card called Grief and today I have seen it a lot of times
the deck is well known in modern and legacy, as much as I love LVD he did not come up with the deck
Yeah not killing the kiki jiki game 1 is dangerous you cant let that card untap but it didnt matter in the end
I love going from Modern where Fury is banned to getting fuckin FURY'd in Timeless. Class move from WotC.
This deck is a true menace. Just unreal. Thanks for the showcase LVD!
"I Prefer this Art" yeeesh... nice title🤣
As oppressive as scam is… I’d rather play against this than Show N Tell garbage or “winconless” Azorious Control.
Show and tell is acceptable and has plenty of counters.
Azorius just ruins the game.
@@anannoyedpandajust wish it was restricted like D Tutor, etc. Depending on your colors and strategy keeping 3cmc I win cards at bay can be difficult.
Its telling when the bird part of a bolt the bird meta is a monkey
24:55 Flameo.
I maindeck roiling vortex just for stuff like this
Fully don’t understand why they banned this in paper only to turn around and port it over to arena…. 🤦♀️ with UPGRADES in the form of reanimate at that. 🤦♀️
Weird, when you copied Fury at 9:06 it changed into the copy your opponent was playing, wonder what happened there
I think it's because the default art coded in the game is the special guest full art version.
The retro frame is a cosmetic, which doesn't get applied to copies.
This set broke arena
The elementals completely changed modern when they were released. It's no surprise that it's done it here too.
Am I crazy for thinking this is an interesting matchup
just run leyline of sanctity. kinda makes like 70% of the deck useless
At this point I can't even imagine what the new player experience is like.
I love how the term scam first came from people thinking that this deck wasn't competitive and purchasing it was a scam and has since come to mean returning a creature from the graveyard to the battlefield when it dies
@@TheSmartCinema it was brought up on an Aspiring Spike stream a while ago. The deck started as WB using ephemerate alongside undying effects but the deck didn't do anything meaningful in the format so it was a scam to run the deck. The name carried over to the BR version when it transitioned to running Fury, Ragavan, Bolt, etc. then just became shorthand for undying effects.
Just because it came out on spike’s stream doesn’t mean it’s true. Imagine that.
@@lexist7 I guess that's true but it is one way to trace the etymology of the term as opposed to the nothing that you have offered
Man I'm glad I only play Brawl these days, not even touching 60 card formats at all. too much nonsense. tbh there's too much nonsense in Brawl too, but it's fun nonsense at least
@@Zevox144 I just instant concede, I'm not sitting through their 17 hour turns
@@th3TwistedLight Honestly i can't judge them too harshly, turns for land sacrifice korvold and necrobloom get kinda long. But the pop off isn't practically guaranteed at least.
@@th3TwistedLight "too much nonsense" "I just instant concede" yeah right brawl is sooo much better my guy.
Disgusting xD
"i prefer this art" and the proceeds to play the card with the worst frame imaginable... I'm not angy, just disappointed
First game scamming grief instead of fury on that Ragavan was almost assuredly way better
my heart sinking at the state of modern when you say it doesn''t have reanimate *yet*..
