    To find Quartiles use this formulas for grouped data
    Q1 = n/4,
    Q2 = 2n/4,
    Q3 = 3n/4,
    To find Decile use this formulas for grouped data
    D9 = 9n/10
    To find Percentiles
    P99 = 99n/100
    where n is the sum of frequency.

    13:50 The 4.25th position between 9 and 11 is not the middle of 9 and 11 (ie 10), but the .25th of it which is 9.5

    • @gregoryopondi3652
      @gregoryopondi3652 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, exactly. So what is Q1 in this case? 9.5 or 10? This is where I'm stuck.

    • @jayralph7165
      @jayralph7165 ปีที่แล้ว

      what the heck are you saying? it's 10 when you get the midpoint of the two values 9 and 11 by adding them up first and dividing by two you will get 10.. you didn't follow quite well

    • @mars7540
      @mars7540 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jayralph7165 its not 10, 4.25th postion cannot be 10 since the 4.50th position is 10. For example, 3.76th, 7.23th, 4.97th, you cant just go and add up the 2 numbers and divide by 2 to get your answer. The only time where you can do that is when the position ends in a 50th so like, 3.50th, 4.50th, etc etc. The guy in the video is missing a step called interpolating which requires creating the fractional equation of the differences. Hope people can see through this mistake.

    Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for an incredible introduction to Quartiles, Deciles and Percentiles using a Cumulative Relative Frequency Table. Although I have seen this material before, this is the first time that I have some understanding of how to calculate the deciles and percentiles using a cumulative relative frequency table. A basic course in Statistics would improve by overall understanding of this topic.

    Thx for sharing. Bt wrong answer for q1 and q2. the answer for Q1 and Q3 is not just simply find the median of minimum (or maximum) value and Q2. In you calculation, location of q1 4.25 and q3 12.75 are right, but (9+11)/2=10 is not the right q1. Correct answer should be Q1=4th+(5th-4th)*0.25=9+(11-9)*0.25=9.5.
    Q3=12th+(13th-12th)*0.75=19+(20-19)*0.75=19.75.

    On the quartiles, percentiles and deciles ,when a decimal point occurs, we incorporate linear interpolation Eg in example (16:00) 60th percentile = 60/100 (16+1)th value= 10.2th value= 10th value +0.2(11th value - 10th value) = 10 + 0.2(17 - 16) =10+ 0.2(1) = 10+0.2 =10.2 . This also applies to the rest of the examples with decimal points. We deduct the next number (11th value) to the found value (10th value) and multiply by the decimal point (0.2). 0.2(17-16)
