    the problem in France is not pensions, it's public sector workers, France has the largest number of public workers in Europe, public administration and bureaucracy are everywhere, and these are unproductive sectors running at tax payer's cost! That's the real problem in France!

    • @Noorlander-ji1ok
      @Noorlander-ji1ok 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Exactly. France has 5.7 million civil servants for 30.1 million active citizens. It's way too much. A certain number are of no use and senior civil servants often have a lifestyle that drains public coffers.
      Another problem is the lack of job creation and employers' mistrust of seniors and young people entering the job market, even though they want to work.
      France is an overregulated country, which paralyzes initiatives, the economy in general and deters investors.
      I add that France is led by incompetent liars who embellish their record in the media, but the facts contradict them.
      Finally, for around 20 years, Americans and Germans, with the help of internal complicity, have done everything to weaken our energy independence and to undermine our industrial power.

    The video discusses a clichéd idea of happy French retirees, with all their health needs accounted for by a generous state. The reality is that there is a shortage of doctors all over France. As in Japan, where retirement age (before one is ready or willing to retire) is mandated, French retirees may begin to feel lonely and depressed, as they find that they need to be more active. Of course, the contraction of employment is devastating.

      Deindustrialization. 😥 More and more European companies will focus mostly on tourism, entertainment (Euro Cup, Eurovision...), luxurious products (LV bags, perfume...). A few companies can be still relevant, like ASML, Zeiss (lens), Siemens. Even BASF and BOSCH expand facilities in China, but not in Europe. Europe lost from smartphone, software, AI, Autonomous, EV/Battery, Space (starLink...), 5G... The list goes on.

      Yeah honestly this is not really what happened.
      The rare metals extracted from Africa are used in niche industries in France, you could argue that for some french firms those had huge potential but as of today, they are still niche in nature. The only product that the French extracted from western and northern Africa is mostly uranium and checking the prices the last few years, the African uranium was much more expensive than the Kazakhi uranium that the French also imported.
      The exploitation France had on western Africa was mostly for geopolitical issues that since the 2008 hasn't paid back in any meaningful way, they just want to keep their influence as much as possible.
      I am not going to support the French colonialism in any way, but the matter of fact is that the French colonialism wasn't even able to be profitable in recent years.

Poland’s problem is that when wages rise, those factories which relocated there will move to cheaper locations such as Bulgaria and Romania, or indeed to Turkey. Borrow to fund extravagant pensions... Hm... Do I sense superficial analysis, coupled with British Anglican morality....
    That is really not understanding the French economy, its biggest problems are over centralization and administrative burden. And since the liberalization of trade under WTO rules investment in small industry has been sucked out of the rural areas, and lot regions have deindustrialized. And high value services have clustered around administrative centers. This has exacerbated the issues of small scale and over specialization of most French businesses. This coupled with an excessive over protection of farm activities has made it difficult for the French economy to shift to a higher scale level.
    Also, a lot of big French businesses don't pay their fair share of taxes, specifically those that have ties to the State. Very often these invest in other countries to get monopoly rents to an absurd level.

    When Macron was elected the 1st time as President the whole of France welcome him and put alot of trust upon him. After the 1st term he ran for a 2nd term although the result of his 5 yrs of presidency was nothing to boast about. French decided to give him a 2nd chance. 2 years into his 2nd term he proved himself to be arrogant, so full of himself despite his very poor results as President. Macron can be rated as the worst President of the 5th Republic of France, he smashed the record as the most incompetent President ever in french history. His push to defend Ukraine is his worst mistake, crippling french economy and plunging the country into a dire state of financial difficulties. Under his presidency he indebted France to almost 3 trillions euros with no end in sight. Under his presidency he increased french debts to 3 trillion from 1 trillion in only in 7 years. Macron will further increase french debt in the last 3 years of his presidency. His "love story with Zelensky" is beyond comprehension. Ukraine is not even a EU member. Today he won the election, by tarnishing the party that was majority in the 1st round. He married himself to the far left to prevent RN winning the election. Macron have given up french sovereignty to the USA to become the 51st State of the USA. French now have to suffer the last 3 years of Macron's presidency. Not a blissful thought nor encouraging.

    And not a single mention of the war? French citizens' greatest complaints are about cost-of-living and inflation, at least half of which is due to the Ukraine war and the associated, largely self-destructive EU sanctions. While living standards deteriorate, Macron and the EU leadership he dutifully serves seem completely obsessed with their quest to expand their power and influence Eastward into Ukraine, at phenomenal cost and with no conceivable benefit to the French people. While Macron once sought a peace deal, he has become the war's biggest cheerleader, hinting at even sending the French army to fight the Russians in Ukraine. While the French are told the budget is unsustainable and they must cut pensions, there is unlimited cash to spend on weapons to send to Ukraine, all of which will have to be replaced.
