This is the truth. Stoner tamed it when there were far less electronic rider aids, in case any haters are gonna chime in with some old bullshit about who’s doing what on a Duc now. Yes, all current Ducati pilots are ridiculously talented, but Stoner was Marquez before Marquez was Marquez. (If that helps anyone younger understand it!) 👍🏽
Thats because Casey in my opinion is one of the greatest of all time ..phenomenal rider.
Who also impressed me is Lorenzo.
He really struggled for long time on it, but at the end he absolutely mastered it. They made a massive mistake when they finished the contract, otherwise they would get the title next season.
And same exact situation repeated with him at Honda. I never used to like him before but he absolutely earned my respect then !
But Casey still is the one for me.
@@ducedevlstear2471 they started to listen to his requirements but then it was too late before his wins for them he was doing well in races but either fell off or didn’t have the long race pace to stay at the front pack. Showed what a difference confidence makes tho. Not wrong with his talent or ability

And Márquez was 58 wins to Rossi’s 10 during their head to head wins against each other afterwards .. Ouch !
I remember coming across Moto GP because there was nothing going on other channels. My first ever live moto gp race turned out to be this one. I fell in love with the red ducati and I always remembered the name even if I didn't follow it later on (I was 11)

Couple things to look at behind this fight. John Hopkins in 4th, and some Frenchman called Randy de Puniet in 5th on the Kawasaki. Hopkins was a fair force in his prime, I miss him.
If he got sober and took racing seriously he could have been an alien for sure
Even Rossi couldn't tame the Ducati.
Mad respect for Casey
1. Rossi was demon on the brake. But I think Marquez is now the best on it.
2. Rossi had tried the last corner overtaking to Stoner before he did to Lorenzo 2 years later.
3. Rossi invented leg out style while breaking
4. Many people thought Stoner won because of the power of the Ducati. He's more talented than they thought. At that time Ducati was really wild just like the current Honda.
Donington should also be remembered with a great comeback

Then,we've Stoner as next successor and he won title from Rossi & Hayden in 2007 and then We've Italian Rossi & Dovizioso to tame the beast and even Lorenzo

Was like 250 vs 800 on straight line.
In corners it was 250 ducati vs 800cc Yamaha..
2 amazing riders riding thier bikes to the max. The ducati was no where near good as the yamaha around a track. But stoner managed it where no one else could. And vale rides the Yamaha like a beast anyway. You have to appreciate both

It's does matter who drives. Rossi was the one who can do this type of challenges with Yamaha-Bridgestone combination. Till the late 2015 all Yamaha were compititive. Hope to see the same with Michelin.

Incredible how Rossi managed to take the fight to Stoner on this track so many times, despite not only having an underperforming Yamaha with a slower engine, but also with worse tyres (Bridgestone clearly was the better compound for 2007 and onwards, Rossi still used Michelin in 2007). The way he outbreaks and switches lines to set himself up in the next corner is absolutely fantastic. Speaks volumes about his skill and class.

@@fightforjustice3744 Pretty difficult to win a race when you got an underpowered bike with worse tyres. Ducati + Bridgestone combination was all-conquering in 2007 but Stoner would be humiliated again from 'The Doctor' in the next two years. ;)

Nobody came close to challenge Rossi outright on his prime. Casey Stoner on his Ducati was a legend that'd always worth remembering. He held onto his stages like a true champion, he is to MotoGP is what Rafael Nadal to Tennis. Rossi may well be the invincible Roger Federer charm, but you can't back the champion until the last point is scored. masterful on a Ducati.
