It's actually pretty scary going to this show as Ben is exactly like Elvis. I am 23 years old and was unlucky to never get to see Elvis live but Ben Portsmouth recreates a show where you think for just over 2 hours Elvis is back.
I saw Elvis twice. Once in Las Vegas and again in Omaha. Ben is the only Elvis tribute artist that makes me feel like I am actually watching Elvis Presley again in person. I was able to see Ben Portsmouth twice this year. In Weatherford, TX and again at the Iowa State Fair and his performances were absolutely awesome. You are the best, Ben. Your voice is totally incredible.

I just saw Ben in Texas last week for one of his Christmas concerts, it was the first time that I saw him and he totally blew me away! In person you can really feel the magic that is Ben when he is performing! I got to meet him and he is the sweetest guy, so down to earth and caring...he took the time for photos and autographs, I got a scarf and he signed it, I will cherish that concert forever! xx

Just wonderful performing here. It feels very Elvis-like. But it's not just the singing or the outfits, or even the band. It's the amiability. THAT was Elvis's shining star. He LOVED performing, and he loved his audience. Sorry Sinatra, but Elvis WAS the greatest single musical entertainer in history. Ben Portsmouth is obviously Elvis's shadow. Very good!
few of the other ETAs because they're on the same video as Ben. 99% of the time, Ben's gestures, facial expressions are vintage Elvis - seem so natural. Personally, I think Ben could have a career as himself, he has that much talent and charisma. I've heard him sing in his natural voice and that's nice, but, if he had the right material, his or someone else's, and sang in this voice or something close to it, he could HAVE IT ALL! As Elvis, I like his hair parted on the side best -breathtaking!

But after the Letterman Show and now this, you're going to need more security standing by because you just started a stampede of loving fans who want to hug you. And the audience LOVED IT! Ben! does justice to Elvis! as both are great performers. Ben! also has that vibrato, and baritone...He has great ability on the Guitar and Piano too.Yes vocals and instruments.
There is not in my view a thing wrong with Ben's talent to capture Presleys essence.This he does uncannily well to the point that is astounding. As did the man who inspired him. He definitely has the voice. And his profile looks of Elvis & from the front even he resembles him quite a bit...
It was so much fun to see how you reacted to the gal jumping up on stage from the audience. Maybe it was part of the illusion. Or maybe she was truly drawn to you. Well, I'm sure she is smitten with you, no matter what. In any case, you handled her with outstretched arms and grace, like Elvis would have done.(And a little bit of instinctive male appreciation for a pretty girl thrown in.) Elvis would have done that, too. I kind of remember seeing footage many years ago of Elvis doing that.

Talking about needing security, at the Texas concert there was a police officer who made us sit down and not dance near the stage, (the stage was really high) we could only rush to the stage to try to get scarves...I got one! :) Also he was with Ben at the meet and greet to make sure everything ran smoothly, I guess I understand needing security but it was annoying to me...his fans would never hurt him! We love him! xx
Ben needs security, Elvis had it, Elvis was a black belt also. A ETA in Vegas was asked if he still went into the audience when he sang, he said no because some girl bit his lip, he got her off his lip and then bit into his cheek, he ended up having to leave the show and get stiches in his face of all places for a ETA. There is a video of Elvis teaching Karate moves, his hand is bandaged because someone held onto him and would not let go. That is the problem, lots of nuts in this world who love too much. It is why stars get stalkers, their heads aren't screwed on right. It only takes one. I don't think it was staged partly bc she almost wiped out then she would have sued someone.
I'm thinking of the "Hurt" video in Memphis, 2012. PERFECTION!! Too bad for Ben, all of these free videos are out there. I know, he needs the public exposure, initially. Or, maybe it's good advertising for the contests and other public appearances. Maybe he gets royalties, I don't know. I would gladly buy Ben's album, CD, if he has one.
