- From a recording made by Wayne N. Devereaux, former chief technician of the Salt Lake City Tabernacle Organ, of a recital played in 1965 by Alexander Schreiner in the Salt Lake City Tabernacle.
I would like to pay tribute to Dr. Schreiner!! As a budding organist in the 1960's his many published works got me through many a service!! Thanks AS, you were my Hero!! xo
Yes. The photo is from a very early pamphlet on the organ that was given to me by Wayne Devereaux. The top, front fluted ends, and it appears a roll top, were quite majestic matching the motifs in the organ case. And the original bench later switch to a "performance" bench for camera to see through.
It's put to the words of "Oh My Father" in one of the older LDS hymn books.
The picture of the organ in this one looks to be from before they chopped it down a little so that the organist could see the conductor better.
Pg 138 from the 1950 edition of the Hymns of the Church of Jesus Christmas of Latter-day Saints.
Which old melody is this exactly?
"Hark! Ten thousand harps and voices" (Tune: HARWELL)
