Portrait with (water-based) Powerwax and Acrylics | POWERWAX Tutorial

- This portrait is painted in acrylics mixed with water-based coldwax (Powerwax from Powertex) to create beautiful textures and transparency in the layers. I added some rust powder too which gives the portrait a whole new dimension! I am definitely going to do more paintings in Powerwax in acrylics, and a new in depth online class will come out soon. Hi, I am Marina, a Dutch professional figurative artist living in the South of France. Although painting in oils and cold wax is my first love, I absolutely enjoy painting in acrylics and water-based cold wax, which gives me even more freedom to create. I have taught hundreds of artists how to paint in cold wax, whether it is with oils or acrylics

Very neat. What paper are you using?
I used 360 gr. paper for Acrylics, it buckled a bit but flattened when it was dry.

Thank you for sharing, want to try cold wax with acrylic I have to find it because in France where I’m living It doesn’t exist. Asking myself if cold wax water could be used with oil watercolor ? TY.
Bonjour Fabienne, j’habite également en France et en effet le medium a la cire froide pour l’huile est impossible à trouver ici, je le fabrique moi-meme maintenant ou je le commande aux Pays Bas. Cette cire a base de l’eau se melange avec l’acrylique et je pense que on peut aussi le mélanger avec la peinture a l’huile a base de l’eau mais je ne l’ai jamais essayé. Vous pouvez acheter le Powerwax chez Geant des Beaux Arts ou chez Powertex France

I would love to see more with the rust. I use a lot of metallic powders, but sometimes they are too shiny. ''

I ordered my wax and rust powder in Holland but almost every country has a ‘Powertex’ representative with an online shop. Where are you located?
