@ProjectShivoham why mushrooms ? In Bagavatham a story mentioned that demon name "vruttasura" While fighting with Maha vishnu, the demon blood drops touched the earth and that's how mushrooms born. Those who follow vedic traditions like brahmins or pure vegetarians will not eat mushrooms. Its poison and dangerous and this is also main reason its alien kind of type and it comes strictly under non veg food. The same story explained in one of the TH-cam video by Brahmasri shanmuka sharma garu channel.

Don’t be so polite about what is today known as biriyani. The maharaja Nala recipe compilation is the oldest recipe Testament in the world while the Europeans claim their few hundred years old book is the oldest. The 10 kings war and the dispersion of the vanquished to particularly the Middle East is well reminiscent in their DNA and cultures and the original biriyani is very much the gift of bharat

Hi Shivoham, I've been your subscriber for some years now, this is the first time I'm requesting a video and this is because I think this is a very crucial topic about our tradition and values.
The topic is clothing of Ancient Bharatiya and their thoughts on modesty and how they contrast with today.
I ask this because I think the modern ideas of modesty specifically for women stems heavily from the abrahamic view of modesty, and a coherent narrative with historical references can be very fruitful in this regard.
The reason I think this is an important topic to be discussed is Becz i think, like dupatta and extreme girl child preference in North West India, the modern ideas of modesty are also adaptation of foreign ideas by Indians due to the pressures posed by foreign invaders.
I say this because, if we see any ancient moortis of any Mata, we see that not only did they not cover their chests, rather they show them as plump as possible, showing that the breasts weren't considered as an object of sexual ideas then, and not a taboo to people of those times.
I think talking about this topic and bringing out at least the factual up and in the ongoing public discourse is an important step towards mental decolonisation.
Edit: just saw that you took up the topic of meat eating, this gives me hope that you're at the very least not afraid of taking up tough topics.

One important point to this beautiful presentation.
Combine ancient knowledge with modern for best outcomes
    1. Potato is a high glycemic index carbohydrates.
Replacing healthy vegetables with tasty potatoes is one cause of India’s Diabetes epidemic.
    Terrible is the combination of
    Aloo-paratha; aloo-puri; aloo-bhat (aloo-rice)
    2. Seed oils such as mustard and sesame seed are best if extracted “kachi ghani “
Today these are heat extracted and multiply pressed - causing formation of compounds that increase risk of inflammation (such as arthritis) and of cancer.
    3. White rice, white wheat (maida) and white sugar are processed to stay stable longer.
Loss of fibre causes rapid rise in sugar that damages many organs.
This is followed by a sharp drop in sugar causing rapid hunger pangs.
    Stay with whole foods

I fell what you mean, and I am in a similar situation, it is sorta like a 50/50, from the little I know the devas, only ate after doing a ritual, not just as a normal person would just buy it from a store and cook it at home. To focus on the ritual point, the only reason I can think of is that the karma of the animal or something is reset and it can be reborn again as human, not 100% sure on that but it rings a bell. At the end of the day if there is anyone I can trust to eat meat and only during a ritual and hopefully not consistently and will ensure that the karma of the animal will allow it to reborn into a human, it is the one and only Shri Ram.

How can you claim that Lord Rama ate meat? This is a misconception. Lord Rama never consumed meat. Due to 1,000 years of foreign invasions, meat consumption became normalized in India, and some scriptures may have been corrupted. According to the Puranas, in Satyuga and Tretayuga, only asuras and chandalas consumed meat. In Dwaparayuga and Kaliyuga, it was primarily anaryas and mlechhas who ate meat. During Kaliyuga, under the influence of the evil Kali, mlechhas became dominant and invaded Bharat, influencing many Indians to adopt meat-eating practices. Before Kaliyuga, meat-eating was not prevalent in Bharat, and Lord Rama, being an ideal adherent of dharma, was a vegetarian.

At one of these sites I have excavated burnt black gram from multiple pits and silos along with animal bones in Rajasthan.
Besides that, we have stone tools which were used for cleaving meat and hides by hunters from the paleolithic to mesolithic ages. The reduction in sizes of these tools also show the probability of smaller animals in later periods.

One of the reasons we call Sri Ram 'Maryada Purushottam' is because of his unmatched kindness and virtuous character. In my view, if he were a meat eater, people wouldn’t regard him with such reverence. After all, if we call him God, we believe he possesses superior qualities. It’s hard to imagine him eating the flesh of any being that he himself created.
In Sanskrit, a single word can have multiple meanings, which is why proper knowledge is essential. Simply reading random translations or commentaries isn't enough to truly grasp the meaning of the shlokas. For example, in the shloka "मांसभूतोदनेन," the word "मांस" can imply the fresh, pulpy flesh of fruits, and "सुराघटसहस्रेण" can refer to a divine elixir or even the holy water of the Ganges. Therefore, we can't conclusively say the word "meat" is implied here based on just one source or translation.
As followers of Sanatan Dharma, we should always seek the truth. I strongly believe that Sri Ram, Sita Mata, and Lakshman never consumed meat. I don't understand why some people are now trying to prove otherwise, but it's wrong to misinterpret such sacred texts.
Here are some references that support my view:
    1. www.scribd.com/document/616759423/Did-Lord-Rama-Eat-Meat
    2. th-cam.com/users/shorts0UET8LXQBvw?si=6_ZvlUN7kFLXHz8J
    3. th-cam.com/video/RbVYcD7m55I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=eGEDyQe9JSJXMz7O
    4. www.ramcharit.in/valmiki-ramayana-ayodhyakanda-sarga-chapter-52-slokas-with-hindi-meaning/
It's important that we don’t blindly trust any one's interpretation. Instead, we should do our own research and read the original Valmiki Ramayana in Sanskrit with a proper Sanskrit dictionary to understand the true meaning and context of the text.

Answer to this channel: You very deliberately go against the Veda's, All Scriptures, Dharma, and what is Sanatan!
Ahimsa is part of everything and its said to be the biggest, largest of Dharma. Even nowadays, scientific research and findings are very clear not to eat meat of any kind.
In Yajurveda 30-15 is clearly written:
O God drive away a gambler, friend of the dice-king; a person with evil designs for murdering cows; a cow-killer for gallows; one who for hunger goes begging to a man who is cutting up a cow; a leader of meat eaters bent on misdeed; the son of a depraved person, befriending a sinner! O God create a wise person who soon realizes the shortcomings in the acts performed; a person who is fit in childhood, youth and old age; one endowed with capability for this world and the next; a leader of the Assembly for drying up the resources of the enemy!
These are not the only man alike looking who are committing harsh crime against the Supreme. Killing in any Yagya or for it are forbidden, heinous and are not accepted by the Deva's. Devabhojan is fruit-plantbased and without harm its Milk and derived products are used. Douane, means only two of the four from the udders are neatly allowed to have by human as long they leave the other two for its calves. We are not allowed to take all four. So, quit misleading people that is done by those who do not belonging within the normal Varna-system which has nothing to do with western caste-system enforced upon all Indian people. You got converted and lost your roots to deviously mislead others. Nowhere in the Vedas or any scripyite such things like you say is written. We know to break us the Abrahamics has falsified text within our scriptures. Since the Veda is scientific, new research has supported these. Only the meat-industry wants to get rich and is misleading everyoneto consume what is very wrong for their body and system.

Maryada purushottam doesn't related to maryada every being-ottam
Whole hindu philosophy works on karma system. And according to karma system, borning as a animal is a bad fruit of your karma. So meat eating can't be against Hinduism. Also, it doesn't matter if our ancestors & even avatars ate meat or not. Because, culture & habits changes with time. Today, 24×7 meat eaters westerners too becoming vegan.
But, as a human, we also have human dharma towards everyone. So, if you compare old meat eating (self hunting & killing animal by ourself) with current meat eating (meat coming from meat farm & shops) is different. Earlier, humans kill animal in one way to eat meat. But today, animals get extreme cruelty before getting killed because of high demand & business. So, eating meat in today's time without knowing or checking the cruelty with alive animal is adharmik.
I myself is vegetarian but i will suggest to every non vegetarian to not forget their human dharma too. So, they should either pet animals themselves or buy meat from non cruelty farm while being alive.
Also, I don't like vegetarian & non vegetarian terms regarding hinduism because vegetarians drink milk which isn't vegetarian by definition. So, i like to use the terms - 'less himsak' & 'more himsak'. Because nothing is 100% ahimsak even veganism too.
Milk & unfertilized eggs - both aren't vegetarian food by definition but yes, they are less himsak food then eating meat. But regarding eggs, again, main topic should be, knowing about the cruelty or cruelty free life of hens.

My Q: Why in ManuSmriti times were Brahmins mandated to be vegetarian? 27:18 Was it already believed to be a pre-requisite for higher spritual upliftment by that time? Were there other social/ political reasons?
U mentioned that vegetarianism trend took hold after Mahabharat times so wondering what was the rationale for proscribing Brahmins with vegetarianism ( n mushroom avoidance) in times earlier?
Thank you for this work. Yr dedication shows. This piece is like Magnum Opus on this topic 4 curious minds.
I personally am a vegetarian n believe a global tilt towards vegetarianism is better for us 4 many ecological, ideological, geo-political reasons. But have always known we have eaten meat at various times thru history.

    🐟 30. FOOD & DIET:
There are THREE kinds of foods according to the three "modes" explicated in Chapter 18 of this “A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity”.
Foods in the mode of purity promote good physical and mental health. The adage "healthy body, healthy mind" is pertinent to this mode.
Such foods include, in approximate order of their importance: fruits (especially if they are tree-ripened), vegetables, nuts, legumes/pulses, grains, roots, flowers, tubers, bulbs, and of course, purified water (or milk, in the case of infants), supplemented with seeds and herbs.
To be included in this classification, the food must be LIVING, that is, fresh and raw (or at most, steamed or lightly sautéed, if one is residing in a cold clime). Most animals subsist on living foodstuffs, so to be considered healthy, the food must be both living and natural.
As with all herbivorous mammals, humans who consume a pure diet normally experience a bowel movement after each substantial meal.
Foods in the mode of passion promote indigestion (or, at least, are more difficult to digest than pure foods) and overly-excite the mind.
Such foods are basically the same as above, but with excessive amounts of oil, spices, sweeteners, salt and/or other condiments added.
To be included in this category, the VEGETARIAN* foods may be properly cooked, but not overcooked, and mildly to moderately seasoned.
Those who consume foods predominately in the mode of passion normally defecate after breaking their fast (i.e. the first meal of the day).
Foods in the mode of darkness cannot rightly be called “food” at all, and invariably cause digestive upsets, such as constipation or diarrhoea.
Such “offal” is either dry, stale, putrid, rancid, decayed, carcinogenic, overcooked (or even worse, burnt), processed beyond recognition, or the remnants of another’s meal (that is, food that has been leftover by a person who is lower in the hierarchy of society than the person who intends to consume it. For example, it would be offensive for a beggar to offer the remains of his meal to his king, yet the converse would be a rather gracious act of kindness). Again, to be included in this classification, the food is to be of wholly PLANT or fungal origin.
Ideally, the bulk (if not ALL) of one's diet should comprise of minimally-processed raw foods, such as tropical fruits or vegetable salads, the latter of which often consists of fruits anyway, since such foods as tomatoes, cucumbers and olives are, in fact, fruits, since they are seed-bearing foods. If one consumes a very high proportion of raw fruits, it is rarely, if ever, necessary to fast. Fasting is beneficial for those who partake in a diet high in processed and cooked dishes. Fruit-juice fasting is possibly the best method of fasting, especially for those living an active lifestyle. Unless one is particularly active, eating more than two meals per day is unnecessary. Ideally, cooked and highly-processed foods should be reserved for the final meal of the day, since the process of digestion itself consumes more energy than any other activity.
It is an undeniable scientific fact that humans are a HERBIVOROUS species (more specifically, a predominantly frugivorous, or fruit-eating animal). There is not a single aspect of human psychology or physiology that even suggests that we were designed or evolved to feed on our fellow animals. The primary visual cortex of the brains of hominids has precisely evolved to recognise the colourful fruits that grew in the tropics of the African continent. Only a veritable troglodyte could possibly take delight in the sight and stench of bloody animal carcasses!
Practically all cat owners know to feed their pets with animal flesh, as they understand that felines are obligate carnivores, yet they have not the slightest clue that humans are herbivores biologically, and that the consumption of animal products is gradually destroying their health.
Animal consumption is lawful only if there is a scarcity of ACTUAL food. However, to be fair, some races have adapted reasonably well to an omnivorous diet due to residing in regions of the earth where edible vegetation has been scarce, for millennia before the twentieth century. But even then, those races have been found to improve their health when their diet had been enriched with vegetation. Humans originated in the wetlands of tropical Africa and our source of food is necessarily to be found in such a climate. We humans must surely be the only species of animal life that migrates away from its food source! Who among you would not prefer tropical fruits over the “food” found in the Arctic Circle?
Unnecessarily killing and/or consuming animals is an ABOMINABLE action. It is not natural for humans to hunt animals like sheep, cows, goats, rabbits, chicken, and fish, and gorge on their bloody carcasses. Sheep, rabbits, and cows are food for carnivorous animals such as lions, tigers and wolves, and fish is food for marine and semi-aquatic species. Do humans live in the ocean? Of course not! Then why is it necessary for us to go into the water to find our food? Is that sensible? Not at all, unless, as previously mentioned, one is afflicted with true hunger (and even in the event that one is literally dying of starvation, one ought to, from a moral perspective, as far as practical, eat those animals that are lower in the hierarchy of sentience, such as seafood. Slaughtering a primate is immeasurably more sinful than feeding on crustacean, for instance).
Milk is intended solely for consumption by infants of the SAME species. Cow’s milk is for baby cows, not adult humans. The logic is overwhelming, but unfortunately, not all persons are capable of reaching such a base level of logic to understand that it is unnatural for a human to suckle on the teats of a cow or goat. Furthermore, like all unnatural substances, dairy products are harmful to human physiology.
Ideally, one should sit in a comfortable position and eat one’s meal with a RELAXED mental disposition. Consuming food in an anxious state of mind may cause digestive upsets. If practical, eating with bare (washed) hands is more conducive to the enjoyment of one’s meal.
“And God said, ‘Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit.
You shall have them for food.’”
    Genesis 1:29.
The Old Testament portion of the “Holy Bible”.
    “Let food be thy medicine,
and let medicine be thy food.”
    Hippocrates,
    Father of modern medicine.
*The term “Vegetarian” is used LITERALLY here, that is, “one who subsists on vegetation”. One who consumes vegetation and dairy and/or eggs is properly called a “lacto-vegetarian” or a “lacto-ovo vegetarian”, respectively. The term “vegan” is not directly related to diet, but to the philosophy of the avoidance of harming animal life unnecessarily. Animal killing is permissible only in the case of true hunger, self-defence, or in order to eradicate vermin from one's dwelling and work places. Obviously, veganism is to be promoted as the ideal way of life for all humans.
N.B. If you are reading this Holy Scripture, it is highly probable that you are familiar with the concept of the “Three Modes of Nature” (“trī-guṇa”, in Sanskrit). If not, it may be prudent to read or re-read Chapter 18 of “FISH” at this point. In any case, those who are, in fact, familiar with the three modes of nature have an extremely flawed understanding of how they apply to food and diet, particularly if they have studied the ancient Indian texts known collectively as “Ayur Veda” (“The Science of Life/Longevity”). Those persons invariably believe that animal products are categorized in the mode of darkness. However, that assumes that animals are actually human food, which they most assuredly are not.
The system outlined above is by far the most accurate, logical, and authoritative method of classifying food, and ought to be followed by anyone who is truly desirous of living a wholesome life. Unfortunately, even most vegans seem to lean towards less-than-healthy foods.

Wonderful video, that's backed by logic, evidences & references than blind emotions.
Its Neo Vaishnavism by business community (with North Indian Brahmins) & Middle-ages (15th century) Vaishnavite movements that pushed vegetarianism as tradition mostly to other from Muslim society.
Shri Rama was a Kshatriya, Kshatriyas are allowed to eat meat due to nature of Varna (lifestyle+job).
This is why old Vaishnavism (only Brahmin Vaishnavites are to be veg as they have to uphold Varna) in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka (Vokkaligas), Rajputs (who consider themselves descendents of Shri Rama/Shri Krishna), North Eastern people whose rulers were married into Mahabharata clans etc all eat non-vegetarian/meat that's still cooked as per traditional sense.
The Military Hotel Style (in Karnataka) meat cooking tradition & recipes prepared by Vokkaligas/Gowdas, Marathis, Savjis etc & Coastal Karavali style by Shetty/Bunts is actually 1000s of years old (these communities too were Kshatriyas & have many Vaishnavites)

For some vegetarians who get offended hearing that our ancestors ate meat, please understand that before the green revolution, it wasn't uncommon for a farmer to reap less than what was sown. Much of the time, farners could only harvest the bare minimum needed for a profit, especially outside the Gangetic plain. Thus, eating meat provided a source of protein and source of food in times of scarcity.
Besides, it is an animals Karma to get eaten , as long as the eater doesn't overindulge. As for those offended that our Gods ate meat, do understand that those who are sacrificed for God reach a higher realm, if not Moksha. What living being wouldn't dream of that !

Namaste sir. Sea food or fish has an distinct place holder in the culture of food and medicines. Shouldn't it be an part of this video too?
Please clarify on this... Weren't they mentioned in many of the scriptures?
Consuming meat since vedic days derives an 'full stop' to many people. Why when and how part must not be ignored. So request you to make an follow-up video on this.
If possible please make an detailed video on "Charaka Samhitha" alone where everything under the sun & moon are mentioned for human diet and medicines.
    Thank you 🙏

The facts you presented about the Vedas seem very contradictory. For instance, the Gita states that it is the summary of the Vedas and Upanishads, yet Sri Krishna forbids Tamasic food in the Gita. Does that mean the Gita and the Vedas are contradictory? If something is rejected by Bhagwan Sri Krishna, how is it permitted for Shudras in the Manusmriti? Furthermore, if Krishna forbids it, how is it that Rama, another avatar of Vishnu, is depicted as consuming it? Aren’t both Krishna and Rama avatars of Vishnu?
Additionally, the Vedas teach that, according to Paramatma, every creation is like a child. This is why Shiva did not see any difference when replacing Ganesha’s head with that of an elephant. So, how do these teachings align? Please help clarify these doubts.

What do you think counts as tamasic foods btw. In what way is meat tamasic.
I say this because the verse regarding satvic/rajasic/tamsic state satvic includes fatty food.
Which food group is fatty if not dairy and animal/seafood. And no PUFA or MUFA's are not considered fatty simply due to their unsaturated nature.

10.59 on the subject of honey the different kinds are recognised by the honey bee varieties, "heggenu" is big bees "kirujennu" is smaller bees. Just mentioning 2 here. If you speak to old folks in villages or folks close to forests they can give more names based on forest landscape, where the bees nest, like bigger trees or shurbs etc. its a fascinating subject by itself since bees are such essential architects of natural environments

    I though madhu is honey
Madhu makhi in hindi. Madhu is also honey in malayalam
Thilakan is a name used for men in kerala.
The murukulu is muruk in kerala
The meat and hiney combination is there in egyptuan culture also. There its duck meat and honey. And the explanation i heard is that the honey balances the fatty duck meat . Dont kniw about that...but this is interesting none the less.
One more thing is, all cultures in ancient times used to perform some kind of saxrifices. In very ancient times it was meat undoubtedly, then in our tradition in vedic times ghee was used to add to the fire and later on you can see in some temples watermelons are sacrificed like an animal. And in kerala we always throw a coconut on to a rock hard and burst it. And we all crush lemon or something else when we take our new vehicle adter puja. These are all ritualistic sacrifice to god. And the great thing about our culture is that , just like the food evolved our though processes also evolved somewhat , and instead of sacrificing living things we replaced them with fruits or vegetables. This shows the evolution in our culture whereas other culture strictly follwed the 🔪 ings. Eg aztec ...we evolved at some point. The change is too noticable😊
