Many many years ago, 46 to be exact my then to be husband and I went shopping for engagement rings the one that caught my eye was a 5 claw, it was different from all the rest and it ended up being the one, and to this day I still believe it has an elegance to it that others just don't have.
I like the 5 claw, it's got an elegance to it that 6 certainly doesn't have and I agree with you, 4 claws can tend to turn a round cut square to the eye. This more emphasizes the shape. Thanks for sharing this. As far as placement, consider that in classical symbology, the top point facing "up" is emblematic of the power of spirit over the material elements.
Aaah Gasp! Suggesting a change in direction the direction of jewellery? Been on the 5 claw wagon for a bit but noticed it's a bit too new still, in my area at least. What would you say is the biggest differences in jewellery trends in London vs Japan?
Nice one... here in Glastonbury there's loads of applications for the 5 point star (pentagram)... especially in Pagan pendants or jewellery. And of course there's different meanings to pointing up or pointing down.😇😨😈
Fantastic videos. I really appreciate the amount of information you provide! Thank you! Maybe you can temporarily glue the collet into the punch for stability while filing. Then heat to release. Or even acetone. What do you think?
Not keen on getting glue on my tools but sticking a collet on to a peg of wood or something else will be helpful when filing it up. Its fun to experiment like that and find new ways to make stuff
It’s certainly special!! And there aren’t many on the market right now too~~ Just wondering tho… for solitaire style rings… would the 5 prone limits u to designs without a shoulder and quite a high profile? Otherwise it will look uneven? And the bigger the stone the evenness will be exaggerated? Just a thot :P Ps. I’m not well studied in jewellery, so terminology might be a bit off, but hopefully the meaning comes across
