Just for the next time, you can use soapy water to locate a leak. Same with the tires on your car. When you apply the soapy water it will indicate where the air is escaping with bubbles.
It was most likely somewhere on a seam. Especially if it was an older mattress. As the other person said, soapy waters a great way to check for a leak! The seams are the first place to check!
