By far the greatest flight video I've ever watched. Thankfully the technology is available while these beautiful birds are still part of our world.
Numbers recovering well. The Bald Eagle was delisted from the endangered status to "protected" meaning the population is large enough to recover and have healthy genetic diversity. There have been some great successes in conservation, many species are no longer endangered. Many are extinct too... some say if we let pandas go extinct and used the money to save species that... want to live, more could be done.
As long as America exists, you do not have to worry about Bald Eagles going extinct.
When I was a kid I always dreamed of flying around like an eagle. Then I watch this and I still wish I could fly around like that.

This is truly fascinating. The way it circles around time after time, losing altitude in a gradual manner, until it finally comes down to its handler.... while also saving/optimizing the number of wing flaps... very smart creature! 😮

His little head is just be-boppin back and forth looking at all the scenery as he's up there driving around, then when he's coming in on final approach its steady and and straight as an arrow, crazy awesome!
And doing up to 160 kph. I never realised the noise... in a Cessna the engine drowns everything out but here you really get a feel for it. Practically a living miniature fighter jet. And take a look at the side profile of the B2 bomber. It's an eagle!
As a 15 year old in Oklahoma, I started flying sailplanes and always felt honored to be circling in the same thermal as a magnificent bird of prey. Mostly red tail hawks. An eagle this size would have been incredible.
It really humbles you to see something like this, too, knowing that we think we're so superior with our technology, but here is a creature doing something by instinct from birth that takes a human being years of intensive training and education to learn. Just gorgeous!
Them flying is as natural as us getting up and walking but they are far more elegant and awe inspiring and Awesome than we will ever be.
I mean this was developed over hundreds of millions of years. I say it is still a lot more impressive humans developed entire civilization from scratch in several thousand years

AWESOME! This is exactly what it's like when I fly my hang glider. Hang gliding is the closest way to fly like a bird, even our landings are very similar in that we too have to flare and land on out feet. Thanks for posting.

It's crazy how when the eagle flaps its wings, you can tell by the air speed that the mic picks up just how much power this bird has. Just wild.
He seems to be able to do 45 mph with little effort and can accelerate to 80mph in level flight and that's with the added drag of the camera. He could easily do 240+ in a dive.

That's the best ability a living creature can have, to fly.
And on non-insects, nature needed more than 4 billion years on earth to develop this achievement to this quality. So we see 4 billion years of trial and errors, and selective pressure (survival of the fittest) - to be now in that phase of mastering flight in this perfection. For me, it really makes feel the perfection of 4 billion years development time.

However I don't believe completely in the theory of evoloution especially regarding the opinion that there exists an evolutionary relation between the species and that chimps are the ancestors of humans.

We lived there when I was much younger for almost 4 years and I spoke Dutch fluently but I was so young and I don’t remember most of it except for when my parents spoke Dutch words with me so a few words I knew only in Dutch and not in English for a while. Very nice video! I saw my first wild bald eagle nearby a few months ago and it was exciting for me. He is our national 🦅

*Notice the gyroscope head lol, but seriosuly, this is perfect Gods design using evolution, the turbulence in the air allows for the better sharper vision if the head is stabilized, the birds cannot turn their eye as their tiny sockets do not have developed muscles, the muscles were sacrificed to house huge eyes, their eyes are bigger than cats if you look at proportions, and if you increased their head size to human - the eyes would take up half of your face. So this combination is why all birds have such good head stabilization, even the chickens.*

@@decorateur2024 In natural way, a lot of birds who cant fly: Emu-bird , Kiwi, Ostriches, Penguins etc etc ... And in non natural way, all birds, who are raised with by humans, and never teached to fly. The first flight for every bird is stressful - because the bird is born with the instinct: never fall out of the nest. So birds who are raised by hand, and never get forced into flight, keep the instinct how the bird is born (never fall out of the nest).
But the first birds i mentioned - because there is no possible way that they can fly, they keep all the good reasons to be afraid of heights.
Summa summarum: there are a lot of birds, and a lot of reason for birds, to be afraid of heights. A lot of birds overcome the fear, and fly. Yes. But a lot keep the fear of heights.

There was a Bald Eagle during the American Civil War named Old Abe! He went into battle on a perch alongside Union soldiers from Wisconsin! He survived the war and retired inside the Wisconsin State Capitol. A mannequin of him watches over the Wisconsin State Assembly to this day! The Confederates used to take pot shots at Old Abe and call him "that damn Yankee buzzard!"
