This was a life saver. No where in the manual is the take-up spring discussed. My tension was good on the spring but the spring was rotated clockwise and I was having fits trying to get the tension set correctly. setting the spring to the angle you guys showed in the video and I'm back in business. Thanks for the video !!
I have had this machine for at least 2 years and my machine has always made a loud clicking sound. Thanks so much for the video. It has made SUCH a difference!
3-16-2022 I have the DNU-1541 (no "S") bougth in 2013 ONLY had manual so no one to show me how to use it, I had at some point not knowing lossened up the check spring I just adjusted it back as this vidoe shows , ? is the thread suppose go to this side of that little hook mine does NOT, also when threading from the spool does it go thru that little pin on the very top or is that ONLY for the bobbin? Please Advise if you can THX
Steve, with regard to the tension knob to the right, what if the thread is tight coming out of the discs causing the thread to be tight when pulling the thread away from the machine when finishing a seam. Tension is good but just wonder about the thread being so tight. I do not have this machine but have that tightness coming from the tension discs. I have my upper arm at the highest position when pulling the thread out and still tight but not tight enough that thread breaks. Just wondering if that is a problem. Thanks for all you do for our sewing community keeping out machines healthy and keeping us informed.
I hear a ripping noise when needle is going in the up direction. I was told this is normal machine is pulling up thread from bobbin. Do I need to adjust my spring ?
Hello just a quick question Would a juki du1181n walking foot be a good machine for auto upholstery? New to this and not sure which machine to look for Thanks for the advice

A compound feed machine like the DNU-1541 or 1541S would be my suggestion over the dual feed DU-1181N.
Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!!!
