Great video! Have had the Deluge since it came out but had not yet seen the MIDI kit trick. I also have an old SP404 I never really got on with except as an effects box, so will pair the two now ;-)
Hellol Thanks for the midio and tge midi trick , which I find very interesting , but please let me understand better. Seams a way to address different midi channels in to the internal raws keybed of the kit . And seams also a way to visualize the name of the midi tracks , to see them with their instruments names- THis because Midi tracks cannot be saved wth the name of the synth right ? Not possible on th SYnth mode, thou Thanks for reading
I'm guessing it allows MIDI to come into the 404 on one MIDI port and pass through as MIDI output from the other MIDI port, similar to how a MIDI-through port works on a synth.
Hey mate, great vid! I was also wondering. Have you had any issues with midi clock sync when sending from deluge to sp404mk2? I can’t seem to get it to be as tight as when I send the clock from SP to deluge. I’ve using the clock nudge. But there just seem not be to be enough increments to get it as tight as I like. Any help will be much appreciated! Just got the SP and would love to keep it. P.S. this is in the context of the pattern sequencer not being in time with the sequencer on deluge. When I sequence externally it’s fine. But the thing is I’m looking to off load processing from Deluge. So I’m hoping to avoid adding midi tracks.. Thank you in advance! Regards, Dovydas
Question are you able to also program sounds on the deluge and feed it into audio in of the 404mk and add sounds from deluge sequences that you send from deluge to 404. Then use ext source to resemble into 404?
Yes you can. I’ve programmed a baseline on the deluge on the piano roll in a synth clip that is going into the 404 via audio in. Then also sequence the 404 pads via a midi kit (so you just add one more cable - a double quarter inch from the deluge to the 404) Then as long as ‘ext in’ on the 404 is set to ‘mix’ it will sample both the external source and the 404 together. You could also set ext in to ‘ext in’ and just sample a part from the deluge onto a 404 pad if you wanted to chop it
@@duskbeats9306 this is amazing my deluge should be coming in tomorrow and I cant wait to start trying this set up for I studio use and live! Seeing this made me finally pop the trigger I the deluge. Will this still work using a midi through box to say also sequence my synths via different midi channel?
@@8thmyth yeah it should. I don’t do it but you’ll need to play around with the routing. I think the routing would need to go from the deluge midi out and from there to the router then to the 404 and other gear. The other option is if you buy an external power plug or ripcord for the deluge you can use it as a USB midi host so you can reserve the regular midi connections for your 404. Have fun!

Let me ask you, if I get a MKii for adding FX to the deluge/digitone and then secondary as a sampler/mangler is there a better option for price point than the SP404MKii Other option was a dedicated pedal like a microcosm(roughly same price)
I suppose it depends how mangly you want to get. The model:samples can get very mangly but on the basis of classic FX with lots of parameters. Whereas the 404 has less knobs but lots of varied FX. I’m biased but I think the 404 is a fun instrument!
I use my deluge almost daily since one year and keep finding functions on it. Thanks for the tutorial!
My pleasure :)
Amazing exactly what I need for the 404mk2. Just cant stand the sequencer for longer work in 404. But this pairing just makes it absolutely beautiful
Thanks for the kind comment - glad you found it useful :)
Cool 😎

Trying to see if I could do this with the play or OXI. Thank you.
what are your results?
What is the usb midi through setting do?

damn i thought the deluge was like twice the size of sp
Ha yeah it’s really small and portable. I wish the SP had a rechargeable battery like the deluge
